We went here for the day in early October while staying at Ischia Porto. Fairly easy 25 minute bus journey (note: all bus tickets must be bought in advance from the ticket office) on a pretty crowded bus; be prepared for 20 Italian teenagers to shove their way on the push you into a 2 inch space in a corner. Bus drops you off at the top of the steps leading down to the beach, then you have a choice of cafes renting loungers and umbrellas at 5€ each for the day. I highly recommend picking a cafe and renting the loungers to give you access to drinks and toilets (no public toilets). We rented loungers and spent a lovely day in the sun and having lunch in a cafe overlooking the sea. The beach didn't look at all dirty to me despite what some reviews have suggested. Also had a massage for €5 from one of the many tiny Thai ladies wandering up and down offering massage. Only drawbacks 1) If you do not want a massage then the persistent ladies would become pretty tiresome, 2) The relentless hassling of beach sellers waving tacky bracelets in your face every 10 minutes. Don't get into conversation with them or be too friendly, or they'll try to physically put the jewellery on you and keep hassling you to buy it. We just said 'No' repeatedly and they went away. Overall, lovely beach, lovely cafes, lovely day out.

Wow what an expanse of sand and beautifully clear water. Plenty of free public bathing area if you don't wish to hire a sun bed. Easy to get to on the local bus.

Maronti is a great beach - warm waters, great swimming/snorkelling, good & reasonable restaurants lining the sands. The only thing that spoiled it for us was the relentless, and sometimes aggressive, beach sellers. We timed that during a one-hour period, every 3 minutes we were approached by someone offering: massage, jewellery, toys, zappolli, shower gel, dresses, teapot stands, sarongs, etcetc. A couple in the day would not have been a problem but as soon as you lay down to read your book, somebody will loom over you and crouch down to try and sell you their wares. This is a great shame as otherwise a lovely relaxing location with great facilities nearby.

We weren't impressed with the beaches by ischia town (all cramped and by the port) so wanted something different. A simple (€1.80) bus ride on the no.5 and we were in Maronti. Lovely vast stretch of beach, water was lovely and unusual sand (thicker grains like salt) from volcanic influence meant it was really easy to rub off when dry. €17 for 2 beds and a brolly - we had a lovely day.

This was a great location to visit, hire a chair and umbrella and relax. You can even get a massage on the beach. It's a 3 euro boat taxi ride (about 5 minutes) to sant'Angelo which is a must to visit.
