We decided to stay at this hotel after reading the tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. We had a superior room on the third floor overlooking the harbour. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony and watch all the hustle and bustle. The rooms have shutters so you could shut out the noise at night.Breakfast was adequate. There are some wonderful restaurants on the beach which is a five minute walk from the hotel.Beware of the restaurants on the harbour. They are overpriced and overcrowded. We hired a scooter for a few days and travelled all over the island. The roads were good and the views were breathtaking. We would highly recommend Ischia as a holiday destination. The only complaint we had was the Italians habit of dropping cigarette butts everywhere.

My in-laws are from Ischia and still have their home that they visit every summer. This year my husband and I went to visit with other family members and decided to split our time between a hotel and the home. I found Aragona Palace on Tripadvisor.com, and since the reviews were good and the price was right we decided to book for 3 nights. That was the best decision of our vacation! The hotel was everything we wanted and more. The rooms were spacious, clean and air-conditioned. We had a walk-out balcony to overlook the port and nightlife. We were right above a bar/restaurant which did get a little loud at night, but they were playing American music so it made me feel a little like home :-) The location is perfect, as the downtown port area is a block away, and the excursion boats leave right outside the door. Each room has cable and SKY TV, which allowed us to see English movies for free, and free Wi-Fi. The breakfast buffet was amazing (with the best homemade ricotta cheese I've ever tasted), and the staff was extremelly friendly and accomodating. Francesco in particular was a sweetheart. He took his time to help us plan daily excursions, was extremelly patient with our daily requests and genuinely cared about our stay. When our family came each day to visit us he was so kind and accomodating to them also. My mother-in-law has already recommended the hotel to one of her customers to stay based on Francesco. You know it's a good hotel when those from the island rave about it. Thank you Francesco!!

The Aragona Palace Hotel has very friendly, polite and attentive staff, is well maintained, clean, and superbly located. The breakfast is excellent and offers a wide range of foods along with any kind of superb drinks and fruit juices. The staff in the restaurant, like everyone else in the hotel are very helpful and will do anything to get you what you would like.
Location is always an important issue with a hotel, particularly in a resort like Ischia, and here the hotel really scores - very easy to walk to from the ferry or hydrofoil port and very well situated - lots of shops and restaurants are situated within a very short walk and, as you might expect, the 'port view' rooms look out onto a beautiful and busy port. We walked most places and only took the occasional taxi or bus ride.
Some people on here have commented on the noise late at night. We were on a third floor room and I have to say that we were not disturbed by the noise at all - once the shutters and the double-glazed balcony doors were closed. What was nice though, was sitting on the balcony late at night and watching the people and activity down below.
The roof top swimming pool is small but it is adequate for a dip. However, there are a lot of sun loungers there and the view from up there is stunning.
The rooms were looked after brilliantly well during out stay - as we were on holiday we did sometimes leave the room quite late and would also return occasionally during the day as well as some time in the afternoon for a small siesta. Despite this, our room was somehow, always cleaned and freshened up whenever we were out and most days this was done twice - after the night and after our siesta. They are a brilliant size, have very comfortable bed and pillows, come with excellent bathrooms and are absolutely clean.
The island of Ischia is also a beautiful island with lovely friendly people and offers a lot of what Italy is good at.
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and at the island and really miss being there - we would therefore highly recommend this.
Tips - we flew into Naples Aiport and took a bus to Beverillo (the ferry and hydrofoil port). You can buy a bus ticket at the newsagent in the airport terminal for €3 Euros or buy it on the bus for € 4 Euros. The bus trip takes about 30 minutes and is no hardship. Taxis are also obviously available but do agree a price before taking a taxi (about €19 Euros).
From Beverillo you can take a ferry or hydrofoil. The hydrofoil is more expensive and takes about 1 hour to get to Porto Ischia (Ischia Port) and the ferry is cheaper and takes about 2 hours. We chose the hydrofoil and, for us, this was by far the better choice - the one hour trip is just enough to enjoy. From Porto Ischia it is only about 800 yards to the hotel - only a few minutes, even with luggage and you see many people doing this - it would be particularly helpful if your luggage has wheels.
Eating - there are numerous restaurants offering wide variety of choice, to suit every budget. As ever, the restaurants on the water front and in the better tourist locations are a bit more expensive but all, invariably, serve excellent food and wine. Do also feel free to ask for what you want and how you would like it is as they are quite happy to be flexible. We often chose to share a salad, then share a starter before having a main course. The fruits that are readily available from fruit and grocery shops are lovely - peaches, nectarines, water melon, figs are all delicious. Do also make sure that you have plenty of tomatoes and fagioli beans - all fresh and delicious.
Clothes - we went in August and the weather was superb - typically a sunny 35 degrees most days which dipped a little bit at night. Being plenty light clothes, shorts, sandals etc. In the evenings, some people do dress up a little bit but this is by no means essential. Do whatever you fancy.
People - we found everyone to be very friendly and often got talking to people around us.
Sightseeing and travelling - there are a few nice places on the Island that are all very beautiful and interesting. However, it can be a bit tricky to get to them - bus can involve a long walk and can be a bit confusing. Taxis are on the more expensive side. However, we did go to Aragon Castle and, much to our surprise, spent half a day there. The views, history and spectacle on offer there was superb and is highly recommended. it is a longer walk from Aragon Palace Hotel but we enjoyed the walk there and would suggest that you do this, at least one way. The return trip can be easily done by bus, taxi, or water taxi (expensive but very enjoyable and worth doing at least once).
We also went to Giardini La Mortella gardens and this was also very beautiful and worthwhile. Bus tickets have to be bought from a newsagent before boarding so, if you are planning to use buses regularly, do buy a few tickets so that you always have them available. Taxis will also always negotiate prices with you a little bit.
All in all, we had a great holiday and highly recommend the Aragon Palace Hotel, and the beautiful island of Ischia.

Room Tip: Higher port-view rooms are perfect as they give you a lovely view and are not too noisy.

Clean rooms, friendly and polite staff, good food.
Breath-taking views from the roof terrace.
The only downsides are that the pool bar is not manned (you have to phone down to reception) and the pool itself is on the small side.
A fantastic holiday.

Room Tip: Front of hotel rooms have amazing view of harbour.

This hotel was perfect! The location is great as it's right on the water near all of the ferries. There are plenty of restuarants and shops nearby, and the bus stop is only a couple minutes away for exploring the rest of the island. The service at the hotel was wonderful. When we checked in they showed us to our room, and provided us with complimentary welcome drinks and yummy pastries. They were also extremely helpful with suggestions on what to do and how to use the bus system. The view from our room was beautiful. We didn't spend much time at the hotel since we were only on the island for one night, but we did go for a dip in the indoor mineral pool which was really nice. The outdoor pool area looked great too, we just didn't have enough time to use it during our stay. We will definitely stay at the Aragona if we travel to Ischia again!

We have just returned from the idyllic island of Ischia. We stayed at this wonderful hotel which is located right on the port of Ischia. Our room with a terrace had a complete view of the port and environs. From the roof top pool, you have an almost 360 degree view of Ischia, including to Procida and to the castle. The staff was friendly, helpful and actually a lot of fun to interact with. Our room was of a very nice size, including a really very good size bathroom and stand-up shower. There is an excellent restaurant on the premises, including a full bar. The hotel is also mere steps from the heart of Ischia Porto and the dozens of restaurants, cafe's and bars. The beach is also just a few blocks walk. The central bus station for the island (you do not need a car on Ischia - the bus service is excellent and very inexpensive) is also just a couple blocks away. This is also true of the ferry boats to the mainland, to Procida and Capris.

Room Tip: Definitely go for a room with a terrace facing the port. We were on the 4th floor that has a huge te...

This hotel was exceptional in terms of location, service and beauty. The staff in particular get 5 stars. We are already planning our next trip back to Ischia and will definitely stay at this hotel. They made my husband's birthday very special, and we will never forget it. Grazie mille!
