We lived some years in the northern part of Italy and we have seen some hotels in that area. The L'Antico Borgo is really something special. It is a beautiful place, clean and managed with love to the details. The place is some kilometers away from the center but you can use the residential card, provided by the hotel, which lets you park for free or for a good discount direct at the beach.
Compared with other roads in the mountain area, the road to the hotel is really big, so don't be afraid.
The breakfast is delicious and the variety of food is far above the standard, even compared to higher rated hotels.
The only problem is the way of living in such houses. The hotel is close to other residential houses. Air conditioning might be helpful at lower temperatures but in summer, you need to switch it off and open the windows - such as the other people do. That means you can hear every word for around your room. That works, if everybody has a similar lifestyle. During our stay, everybody went to bed around 11 and 12. After that time, the whole area was absolutely quiet, no cars, nothing but silence.
So, if you go to the cinque terre area, we can recommend that hotel very much.

L'Antico Borgo is a really lovely guest house, B & B. The rooms are very clean and fresh, plenty of space, but some of them are quite dark because the house next door is only a couple of feet away. The breakfast is plentiful, coffee not the greatest but everything else excellent, making a very good start to the day. Lovely breakfast terrace with gorgeous view. The two hosts are very helpful and friendly.

However if you fly to Italy to holiday in the Cinque Terre only, this is not the greatest choice. Dosso is about 15 minutes drive above Levanto so It is essential to have a car, but that said the only time we used the car was to go to and return from the station. The train is the only way to get about in the Cinque Terre, the trains are excellent so by having a car you pay for that and then pay for the train anyway, which is not sensible. Trains from Pisa and Genoa are easy to negotiate. Obviously if this is part of a wider Italian visit then no problem.

Levanto is a very interesting and lovely town. Loads of faded, beautiful old buildings, cafes, restaurants etc. A quiet choice to visit the Cinque Terre.

Every recommendation says to avoid mid Summer and we can only confirm this. Really, really DO NOT IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN visit in high Summer, the crowds are horrendous. Such an absolutely beautiful place, it doesn't deserve to be so overwhelmed, and its hard to take in with such crowds.

Everything about this place was great. The drive up the narrow curvy road was an adventure. No trouble finding a parking spot in the tiny village. There's a parking lot at the top of the hill. Beautiful old building. Clean, comfortable with an amazing view over Levanto and the sea. Very friendly and helpful staff. Emailed ahead of time to let them know of dietary restrictions and they were extremely accommodating with the breakfast which was a really nice spread. Perfect little romantic B&B. Wish we stayed longer!

Great to stay there - and even in the summer you're very quick at the beach - we enjoyed it a lot.

We were travelling with friends over from Australia and we wanted to show them a special place in and around Cinque Terre. Carlo and Francesco made sure ous stay was perfect. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking Levanto is a pure delight with delicate cakes and pastries served each day, you do not need lunch!
Youe do need a car but the B&B provides you with a free parking ticket for Levanto where you can catch the train along the Cinque Terre route.
Perfect stay - Thank you.

Room Tip: No 3 or 5 with views over Levanto
