We really enjoyed our three day stay in this hotel. It was a 15 minute walk from the train station while pulling our luggage (it was 10 minutes when we weren't carrying luggage). The hotel is right across from the beach and several good and inexpensive restaurants were nearby. Our stay included internet (no problem connecting) and breakfast (standard continental). The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The lobby is on the first floor so you will have to carry your luggage upstairs but the person at the desk INSISTED on helping us carry it. We had a triple room and it was spacious, modern, quiet and clean.

I felt that we really made the right choice by staying in Levanto instead of one of the Cinque Terre towns. Most of the other towns are quite small and really overrun with tourists. When we ate lunch in the other towns the prices all appeared to be higher than the were in Levanto. But what I most liked about staying in Levanto was that it had the feel that I was experiencing a real Italian town instead of one that was all geared toward tourists. On Saturday night I had to do laundry (there was a 24 hour laundry mat in the square right around the corner from the hotel) and while I was out I really got a feel for the local social scene. People of all ages (including families with small children) were out and about until late in the evening/morning.

I highly recommend this hotel and the town of Levanto as a base for visiting the Cinque Terre region.

The entrance to the Garden Hotel is a little underwhelming: a modest sign in the middle of the block, a generic apartment lobby, and the actual reception desk on the second floor. Service was efficient. Our top floor room was quite nice, with marble floors, ample space, and a great balcony with four chairs, a table and a stunning view of town and the sea. We used the minibar fridge to chill our locally purchased drinks! The Garden Hotel had robust WiFi.

On the negative side: Smallish TV was tough to control with remote. Breakfast was decent, but nothing to write home about. Very small, old fashioned (double door) elevator, but otherwise five flights to the top floor.

This is an excellently run hotel, which had a warm homely feel about it. The staff Damiano and Francisco were very friendly and helpful, giving us great directions, maps and ideas on what to explore. This hotel is very central, about 15 mins walk from the train station, and right on the beach and square. Our balcony over looked the ocean which was fantastic. We found breakfast to be good, with a range of foods including cereals, cheeses, breads, italian meats and gluten free choices. They also had fresh brewed coffee if requested.

Levanto is an excellent spot to base yourself whilst exploring the Cinque Terra. We would definately come back to this hotel if we were coming back to this region.

Room Tip: ask for an ocean view if possible, if travelling in music festival time (like we were) take ear plug...

I would stay here again. The location was great.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a view that faced the ocean with a communal balcony. Which was very enjoyable as we were travelling with another couple at the time.

Nothing was to much trouble for the staff particularly - Francisco.

The breakfast was fresh and some nice choices (only tinned fruit)
There is no elevator and you will need to walk up a flight and half of stairs.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the ocean.

This hotel was a great place to stay as a base to explore the area. We are a family with three very small children, and despite our children being up and noisy at 5:30am, the staff were always friendly and helpful. Levanto is a gorgeous little town and perfect for a young family. There are playgrounds close by and lots of gelaterias, which our kids loved. It is only a short walk to the train station and an easy train ride to the cinque terre. We did one day trip to the cinque terre and then another day trip to portofino, which was also perfect. Levanto was also a lovely town to explore and we could have easily spent more time just hanging out there.
So for anyone anxious about taking small children to this area, don't worry..it can be done and it is wonderful. Obviously we weren't able to climb to the top of towns or do long arduous hikes, but what we did was perfect for us.
The hotel room was fabulous and we loved having a balcony area, where we could sit while the children were asleep. We also were lucky to have a babysitter one night. She was organised through the hotel and she was wonderful and gave us a chance to get out without children one evening.
I would definitely recommend garden hotel to anyone staying in this area.

Very nice hotel. They speak good English if you can't speak the lingo. Good access to the beach and walks. Room nice and clean. Showers VERY small. Bed quite hard but I like them like that. There is a town clock that goes off every 15 mins. B'fast was ok notting out of the ordinary and no fresh fruit which is always a bug bear with me! Reception very helpful. It has internet access. The town is nice. Beach is stoney and a bit touristy.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room

We recently stayed at the property and expectations were well and truly exceeded. This small hotel is in a great location very near the beach. It is very clean and most of all the staff are fantastic.
I arrived in Levanto with no luggage....it was still in Berlin. Damiano and his team kindly followed up with the airline and courier numerous times until it was located and delivered. My issue was solved in their hands and they had no hesitation to go the extra mile.
In addition the hotel has bikes which are a fantastic way to explore the nearby almost private beaches adjoining this beautiful town.
I recommend staying in Levanto if exploring the Cinque Terre region as unlike some of the other towns it is almost free of the hundreds of tour groups.
Enjoy Levanto and hotel Garden!
