Il Palagio

Nice apartment on ground floor with exits to front garden and backside conveniently located close to the pool. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Il Palagio is a nice starting point for visiting for instance Florence, Lucca, Siena, Pisa,Greve in Chianti. Also a very nice golf course is close by (Circolo Golf Ugolino). And for the shopaholics: 3 malls in striking distance.

For laundry services, a washing machine and dryer are available at just 5 euros. Also the restaurant is pleasant, with a limited menu and very nice wines.
Internet was down for our first week due to previous bad weather. When it was up again, it turned out to be rather slow. Absolutely something to be improved, as kids nowadays are 'on line', just as the parents now and then.
The swimming pool is nice, but with not enough beds, leading to 'conquering behaviour' of the guests early in the morning.
Only real downside is the weekend disco on Friday and Saturday. We were lucky to have experienced only one night of disco, starting around 10 pm till around 3:30 am. But it's an awful noise. Either you get the earplugs or join the party: hardly a way in between.

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment at poolside, which is away from the disco.

Cleaning was done only once a week. Our apartment (one week stay) was one bedroom.
It would be nice if somebody could clean the apartment thoroughly, apartment was quite dirty and shabby. No soap, shampoo, toilet paper, no detergent. Also outside, no cleaning, brushing, only lawnmower once;).
We can´t use electric kettle, it was dirty, pan was crappy, no wineglasses, thoug we were in Tuscany;). Aircondition was running, when you were out of the apartment, so you feel cold, when you came back.
Website Il Palagio; you see jazzclub, there was no jazzclub, only disco for youth (Friday,Saturday), no arranged activities, no swimmingpool bar. Restaurant was snazzy, I think most people didn´t eat there (one night we were alone there). Reception limited time, no harm for me. I was a little bit disapointed, but maybe this is the best place in Rignano Sull Arno? Surrounding was nice, and peaceful. Rignano Sull Arno was 2 miles away, there was nearest shop.

Working in the area for a week, this was a wonderful, calm place to stay. The food in the restaurant is very good, and quite reasonably priced. Very comfortable, large rooms (I had a shower with three heads!), terraces to sit out on, and all the rooms are different, so I can only comment on mine, with two large windows, a private terrace shared with two other rooms, which they didn't use.
Above all, the staff are super. I'd like to (invidiously) commend Maria, the breakfast server, with a smile that lights up the day, nothing too much trouble, even though on some days she has to cope single-handedly with large tour groups who come to shop in the discount malls (!) nearby. Most of the time the hotel is quiet, and I would particularly recommend it as a base for touring Tuscany by car. The surrounding countryside is stunning.

Room Tip: They are all different

We only did a one night pit stop here in the 2 bedroom apartment, for the outlet mall shopping, before driving onto Venice. Despite the other TA reviews, We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel and it's finishings. The staff were very friendly too. Certainly, you would need a vehicle to be staying here. If I had known earlier, may have considered this as a base for Tuscany. It seems that the hotel would be able to assist for hiking and wine tasting trips.

Stayed for three days in the middle of July. Was not aware that I had to ask for the room with shower. Our room did not come with a shower, thought that would be standard. The front desk time only stays for a limited time. After certain time is no front desk staff. The breakfast was very limited. The on-site amenities are limited. For example, there are no towels available at the pool. It was expected that you would have to use your towels from your rooms for the pool. The room is only cleaned during the middle of the week, and not every day, so these towels had to be reused. This place is for people who stay for extended periods of times probably one week or more as a room came with a full kitchen. I did not expect this. Just want everyone to be aware.

Charming hotel in historic buildings carefully renovated and modernised into a hotel. Very fresh and clean appartement in light colours. Large rooms. Situated in the calm and beautiful countryside outside Firenze. Good location for trips by (rental) car in Tuscany. Easy and quick to take the train to Firenze. Wonderful gardens and surroundings. Loved the rosemary bushes growing on the hill behind the restaurant. Visited in april and the pool was nice but very cool. Friendly staff working in the reception.
When showering, the water was flowing out all over the floor of the bathroom, but it was not a big problem. Two beds were comfortable, but the other two were like camping beds and did not have very thick mattresses.
Didn't visit the restaurant. Used the kitchenette for selfcatering. It was small but quite enough equipped.
Stayed with family (three teenagers) for 4 nights. One of our best holidays!

The 2 bedroom apartment we stayed in seemed relatively new. It is very spacious and comes equipped with a kitchenette. In fact, the 2 bedrooms are very spacious as well. Our gripes - the rooms are pretty cold for spring and one of the showers does not have a proper place to accommodate the toiletries. But I must say the service of the front office is pretty good - when I brought the kettle to change, the staff did it very willingly, despite the fact that I had it changed 2 times! And of course another plus point is that it is really close to The Mall :)
