Grandeterra is a hidden gem in the green hills of Tuscany, tucked away on a quiet hillside with the most spectacular views.
The hosts Bruno & Fabio were very helpful during the booking process and provided us 'non drivers' with details of how to arrive and where to find public transport links from Florence. The bus took less than an hour to transport us from a busy city to the most idyllic Tuscan setting. The nearest 'large' town is Greve which unfortunately is over-run by America, British and German tourists, but luckily Grandeterra is situated on the hillside above Greve, past a small walled town called Montefioralle.
Bruno came down to Greve to pick us up in his car and drove the short (but very steep) 10 minutes up the hill to the B&B. Our hosts made us feel instantly at home and comfortable and left us to settle into the fantastic room.
The house is a stunning piece of architecture, designed and build by Bruno himself. Bruno was happy to show us around his own home as well as the B&B rooms which are individually designed with simple features and very comfortable beds.
We spent most of the time relaxing in the terraced gardens around the property - the only sound was birds and the leaves in the slight breeze. It's the most relaxing B&B we have ever been to, with amazing views and great hosts.
The highlight of our stay however was the home cooked meal, prepared and served by Bruno. The meal was very reasonably priced and we enjoyed it in Bruno's dining room along with the host. It was possibly the best Italian food we had during our whole stay!
We will definitely be going back to Grandeterra - it was a great find.
