We had our wedding party in Vicchiomaggio Castle in October 2012. The service was good and delightful, all our hosts were satisfied. However, if you want to organize a party there be aware of the poor professional skills of the Caste’s staff and of the landlady as well. It was impossible to gather simple information, such as the number of available chairs and, once gathered, it frequently changed through time: emails were very rarely answered, therefore misunderstanding happened quite frequently. The landlady seemed to forget all agreements and anytime everything needed to be discussed again from scratch. Prices are market average but she found the way to add uncommon extra charges for services, such as the use of the location after 5:30pm (in any case no later than 7pm!) or the different price levels for kids depending on age. Finally, it must be highlighted that we did not feel to be trusted at all when she told us that the number of kids she noticed was different from the one we had declared. The result at the end would be good given the location and the service, however if you want to avoid useless stress during the pre-wedding period, we would suggest you to evaluate also other options in Chianti, which is full of similar nice places.

We visited the winery with a Trafalgar tour in September. Wonderful Tuscan location, tiny pours of 2 of their Chianti wines & a couple of bruschetta. The guide from the winery seemed very distracted & rushed us through the place. The following day we visited another winery with much better paced & informative experience. Maybe she was having an off day. ( I still did buy wine & EVO to ship home).

The Castello offers 3 weekly dinners, we did the wine tasting and olive oil. The wine tasting dinner started with a tour of the wine making process, which was fairly average. We were then treated to a glass of wine in the courtyard and accompanied by a setting sun, which was beautiful.

The dinner was fantastic - the food phenomenal, and the service was out of this world. They gladly refilled your wine glass of your favorite varietal. One of the waiters, sadly forgot his name (wine), was a great piano player and started singing while playing later on in the evening. He went from Frank Sinatra to Mozart to, believe it or not, Guns N' Roses. Great experience.

The Olive Oil dinner had great food, but did not have the great entertainment of the wine tasting dinner. The simple food was fantastic, and the setting is great for a drawn-out dinner. More of a romantic getaway than a kids-restaurant.
