“Wonderful Holiday!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

We've just returned from 8 wonderful nights at the Castello! Stunning views from the hill top location, wonderful food (particularly the Monday night dinner) and staff very welcoming and helpful. Our room in La Canolica was very comfortable and clean. The infinity pool was a lovely way to relax after sightseeing. Hope to return in the future!

We loved Castello Vicchiomaggio! We stayed there for 4 nights in May and loved the location, views from our rooms and the whole package! We stayed in the apartments and had nothing to complain at all! The weather was perfect and the whole experience of being in Tuscany was everything I thought it would be! Thoroughly recommend it!

Room Tip: Free Wifi is available in the courtyard/gardens outside. Not a problem as long as the weather is go...

We stayed here for two nights in June, and wish we had stayed longer! The rooms were updated, yet quaint, and the views breathtaking. Breakfast was a nice spread, our lunch was even better, but you must do dinner in the main dining room for a true tuscan feast. The food was incredible, as was the wine. The wine tour and tastings were fun and interesting, and the women who run these were lovely. The main highlight of our stay however, was the infinity pool overlooking the vineyards and hills. Such an amazing view, and the perfect place to relax. We stayed here without a car, and took the bus to/from florence a few times (about 2 euro each way, stop is down hill from hotel about 20 min walk), which was a 45 minute ride, and also took a taxi which was about 60 euros each way.
Overall, an amazing place to stay, and we hope to return!

The history was as incredible as was the accommodation. Our room was huge with views forever. It was hard to take it all in. The staff did everything possible to help make our stay as comfortable as possible. Weather was perfect. Sitting beside the pool under the Tuscan sun was very special. Breakfast was great. Would definitely stay again if lucky enough to be in the area again.

Room Tip: Request one of the larger rooms, they are worth the small extra fee

Ancient castle that is a great hotel and working vineyard. We didn't stay here but enjoyed the dinner in the castle dining room. We met some guests that commented that the rooms were great. The dinner we had was fantastic and the wine tasting turned into a few too many bottles for us.

We stayed at the hotel for five nights in late March 2014. The season hadn't really started yet, and the grounds were being prepared and manicured for high season. Nevertheless, we had very temperate weather, stunning views, and an overall fantastic stay.

Our room was in the newer building next to the parking lot. We had the room to the right of the entrance, which had a lovely seating area, patio with chairs and table, comfortable bed and roomy shower and bathroom. Many an afternoon was spent on that patio drinking some Chianti Classico and soaking up the sun. The view from the bathroom window and bed overlooks the Tuscan hills and vineyards- a fantastic way to wake up!

A special shout out to the wonderful women who run the winery, Ines and Nadia. We had several interactions with them both, and they are such fun people! We had a blast chatting with them, on the wine tour and beyond. Thank you for a wonderful time!

We just got back from Italy and had a fabulous 4 night stay at this hotel. Our only regret is not staying longer. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, authentic place to stay during our Tuscan experience. First of all, the location is ideal, surrounded by Tuscan countrysides, vineyards, and beautiful landscapes. We saw the castle from the road and could not believe we were staying there, because the scenery is so breathtaking. We arrived a little after check-in time, but they were still so accommodating. We felt so welcomed. Everyone was so nice and down to earth. Frederica, thank you for being so wonderful and so kind! Even our dear housekeeper always greeted us with a big smile and a sweet hello. We felt like family friends staying here.
We booked the superior suite and it was almost TOO big! Which we have never said about any hotel room in Europe that we have stayed in. The property and room were immaculate and clean. Water seeped through the bottom of the shower door, and the bathroom floor was very wet afterwards, but not a big deal. The bed gave a decent sleep, pillows a little flat, but the bedding was very clean and fresh. The views from the window in our room were unbelievable.
The grounds are so beautiful, we took so many pictures and still daydream of staying there. The infiniti pool was out of this world, the most beautiful pool and backdrop we have ever seen at a hotel. And the cleanest pool too!! You can really tell they put so much effort into their appearance and most importantly, their cleanliness. We felt very, very safe there. We are already planning our next trip, and would love to stay longer.
We did the Monday night banquet, which is a MUST. Remember to book ahead of time. You will not regret it! Begins with a tour of the winery. Wine portions were very, very generous. Food was delicious! Best meal of our entire vacation was that Monday night.
Check-out was simple and fast. This is definitely the best place to stay when staying in Chianti. It definitely exceeded all our expectations. We are recommending you to all our friends. Thank you again for such a wonderful time
