It's the perfect location. Greve in Chianti is a quaint little village with just enough shops and restaurants to keep you busy in between touring the vineyards. It's also a close drive to Florence and Siena.

Fattoria Vitticcio is a very lovely farmhouse with clean, comfortable rooms. We stayed in Lucius (probably the smallest room with 2 twin beds) and were very pleased.

Simone, who takes care of guests, is amazing. He did everything he could to make our stay great.vi would definitely recommend staying here!

Travelling as 2 couples, we wanted to stay in Tuscany and had no idea of where to stay. We choose this place as their website was excellent and it looked exactly like what we were looking for - an experience away from the crowds in a relaxed, self contained environment.
We found it easy to locate and the manager (Simione - sorry if I spelt it wrong) was excellent. The accommodation was good with a kithcen that had just about everything in it . Tv stations only italian, but what do you expect. We found that in most self contained accommodation while we were away you needed to supply your own dishwashing tablets, detergents and rubbish bin bags. The laundry here was also a god send after away being on the road 5 days
The wine they produce is excellent and the house red was under AUD $8 a bottle. We also their wine tour on site which was also very informative.
A trip into Greve was about 5 minutes away by car and it is a must to experience the local markets.
The manager and staff recommended a number of areas to visit and restaurants to experience.
We travelled by bus to Florence which was about 1 hr 30 mins away and was a good decision given the traffic chaos in that town. Also went to Siena but made the mistake of driving there on market day.
San Gimigano is also worth a visit

Overall, we had a great week here, the weather was perfect and stay very memorable

Our family, which included a 20 year old and a 19 year old, stayed at Fattoria Viticcio for two weeks in July 08. My husband and I had the apartment Rosa Rossa which was clean, had everything we required in the kitchen and an adequate dining/ lounge area. The very spacious bedroom upstairs had gorgeous views. Our children had the Prunaio room which seemed a bit dark but was clean and met their needs. Having the two rooms worked very well as we were able to cook and eat together but were also able to have time apart. I contacted the property direct in December of the previous year and all my queries over the following months were efficiently and accurately replied to. There were no surprises on arrival. The property was absolutely stunning, the pool area was beautifully maintained and our hosts were friendly and helpful. Our son needed emergency medial treatment during our stay - Beatrice and Sarah were so caring and helpful which made the challenges of his short hospital stay a lot less stressful. This was our first visit to Italy and the location of Viticcio was just ideal for the many day trips we did and its proximity to Siena and Florence. The days we stayed in Greve were very pleasantly spent down at the quaint village and lounging by the pool. It certainly was an idyllic stay at Fattoria Vitccio.

We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful 4 day stay (we had to pay for the entire week per their policy, but it was still a reasonable cost). During our stay we drove day trips to Siena (south) and Florence (north), and Greve is right in between. Our first time driving in Italy and it was fine. The town of Greve was a nice size with a well stocked grocery store and little shops. It was so nice to shop the local stores, and then cook in the kitchen that was in our apartment (named "per Camilla"). The accomodations were lovely, but not 5 star. They really did not need to be because you are on a working farm - so no maid services or sparkling clean room - but we liked that it was farmy and quaint. Got a great tour of the winery and watched them bottle the wine. Also, the views from anywhere on the winery are absolutely amazing. You are totally engulfed in the Tuscan feel of rolling hills and grapes everywhere - picture perfect. We stayed in September, so did not use any air conditioning or the pool - but the pool was clean and very nice overlooking the vineyards. If you go, everyone there is very friendly and warm, especially the two cats that live there - they are so sweet and cute!

Note that this is firstly a winery, and secondly accomodation.

We loved the wine but were a little disappointed with the room we had. It was a little dark and musty, and the bathroom was a little old. But for E80 per night, it was a bargain.

We were there in September when it had got quite a bit colder. This place would be lovely in the warmer months when you could use the pool and the garden, but I wouldn't stay in colder months.

Hosts were very nice, and the place was very quiet. Very close to Greve town centre - you could walk down if you wished but it would take around 15 minutes. Great location for some country air and views, especially if you only want to go into Florence for a day trip - bus took about an hour.

Stayed 2 nights in the Monile room. Optional breakfast and cleaning facilities.

Great place to stay, authentic rooms in a working vineyard.

Nice pool (which we had to ourselves mainly) and friendly owners on hand to give advice.

Short walk to the lovely Greve.

Loved it!

We stayed for a week in September 07.

Greve is a gorgeous village and Viticcio was a great spot to base ourselves for the week. We didnt have a car so we just spent the week walking to and from the town square (where the shops are) and relaxing.

The owners are lovely and it was easy to book and arrange it all directly.

The apartment itself was perfect size for 2 of us. The bathroom was modern and clean however the kitchen wasnt really up to standard. We had to wash all the pots/ plates etc before we used them as they were so dirty. The furniture was run down - eg lounge was broken.

For those who hate insects beware - by the end of the week the spiders were getting progressively bigger (harvest time so the spiders were heading inside) and causing me great stress!!!

Overall the place was a great location but by the end of the week we were wanting a bit more luxury and were glad to be moving on.

  • Liked — Location - the countryside is magic
  • Disliked — The spiders and the dirty kitchen.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Our agriturismo has been carefully restored to its authentic Tuscan farmhouse style, equipped with all the modern comforts. The apartments are located in the main complex and have separate entrances and private outdoor space. Guests have access to a saltwater swimming pool and a large garden surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. The agriturismo is conveniently located in the tranquil Tuscan countryside just 30 km from Florence, the cradle of the Italian Renaissance, and 40 km from Siena, a stunning medieval town. A few minutes away is the charming village of Greve in Chianti, nestled in the rolling hills and surrounded by characteristic towns and sites like the 11th century Abbey of Passignano and the frazione of Montefioralle. Wi-fi, air conditioning, and satellite TV are available in all rooms. Viticcio has been making wine since 1964 among the rolling green hills of Tuscan wine country in Greve in Chianti, between Florence and Siena. The winery’s vinicultural production began with the desire to capture and embody the potential of Chianti Classico, and it wasn’t long before Viticcio wines became renowned for their true and high quality expression of the Tuscan terroir. Since then, the winery has grown to encompass 120 hectares of estate-owned land among the hills of Chianti Classico, Maremma, and Bolgheri, and it now produces wines from all three of these prestigious territories. Today we, the Biba family, carry forward the production of Viticcio winery, making wines that express the most authentic link between nature and man. We are driven by passion and enthusiasm to make our wines classic and elegant, yet with a fresh outlook on the terroir. Together with the indispensable help of our young and energetic team, we dedicate ourselves to producing high quality wines that express the Chianti Classico, Maremma, and Bolgheri territories with classic yet fresh style. We strive to produce wines that showcase all the nuances of this incredible terroir to its full potential. Our olive trees, too, are managed with respect and care, and the charming agriturismo is attentively curated so that our guests can experience the same authentic Tuscany that we love. Our team in the vineyards and cellar is made up of people who have grown up together in Chianti and share extensive experience in the field, as well as a deep love for the land. The respect and care we feel for our territory begins in our hearts and is transferred to the careful vineyard management and cellar techniques we practice. We honor the treasured traditions that teach invaluable winemaking knowledge, and we balance this with innovative technologies. Just as importantly, we respect the environment and recognize the essential need in leaving the land healthy and fertile for the next generations. Indeed, the vineyards have always been cultivated using organic techniques and natural treatments as much as possible. Since 2003, eight hectares of vineyards are cared for using biodynamic methods; and since 2013, our entire production has been totally organic. A wine’s high quality begins in the vineyard. Only by respecting the land are we able to grow naturally wonderful grapes to make an exceptional product. ... more   less
