“Didn't want to leave!”
Reviewed 26 October 2011

This refurbished villa from the 1300's is run by a family that has a knack for making you feel as though you have come home. A staff that matches their values with warm, sincere feelings towards their guests.
The hotel could not be set more beautifully on a hilltop looking over the vineyards and olive groves. And splurge on a cooking class with David (the owner) which was a highlight of our 15 day trip. More fun, and education in a setting that has all the makings of a movie but it's real!
We plan on returning with a group that will surely make this an experience that should be repeated often....truly what a vacation should be.

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful and named after the vineyard they face

This was our second time in this absolute fantastic place. Everything about Villa Bordini is just a dream. The decor or the Hotel - the rooms and the bathrooms - all decorated with so much taste. The staff is so professional and friendly - the owners David and Catherine always charming and with a big smile!
Now back home, we trying desperately to find new beds and pillows, matching the comfort we expienced at the Villa Bordini.
We are in love with Tuscany and a great part due that beautiful hidden Villa Bordini.

Room Tip: Next time, we would ask for the garden room, as there is a small private terrace.

We stayed at Villa Bordoni during our honeymoon in Tuscany. I cannot write enough great things about this villa and the service! The owners, Catherine and David are very gracious and provide 5 star service. Our room was stunning and we felt right a home. The cooking school is a must and David is so much fun to learn from in the kitchen! Their staff are wonderful and make you feel welcome. We vowed to come back for our 5th anniversary!

We have been lucky enough to stay at the Villa Bordoni two years in a row, having got engaged there the first year and deciding to revisit for our honeymoon, so it's probably time it got the superb tripadvisor review from us that it deserves!

Tuscany as a whole is undeniably beautiful, but the Villa Bordoni really is just stunning. Small but perfectly formed, we have stayed in 3 different rooms in the hotel and even the smallest was a wonderful experience, with the most beautiful tiled bathroom I've seen. The decor in the rooms is superb and feels really luxurious - this year we splurged on a Junior Suite, which even had a huge roll top bath - the perfect thing to return to after a long day's sightseeing! Enjoy a nice drink outside in the beautiful garden before dinner and watch the sun begin to set - truly beautiful.

The restaurant is superb - definitely some of the best food and wine we have ever had (we even returned for one more night after we had moved on to another hotel about an hour's drive away - it's THAT good!). If you want another option for nearby restaurants, the recommendation for the nearby restaurant in Lamole was excellent - quite possibly the best steak and tiramisu ever and a beautiful setting to watch the sun go down.

The thing that really makes this hotel so special though is the attentiveness and knowledge of the staff. As soon as we arrived (very late!) we were welcomed with a nice glass of chianti, and throughout our stay the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. On asking for recommendations for some local towns to visit, we were sent off with a map detailing lots of tucked away little towns that we would never have found in the guidebooks and really took us off the beaten path. We also had numerous recommendations for great restaurants and places to visit for wine tasting and we genuinely felt that they couldn't do enough to ensure that we had a great visit.

Having read tripadvisor reviews before our first visit, we were prepared for the dirt track to be very bad, but we didn't find it to be as bad as we expected - particularly this year when lots of effort seemed to have been made to make it a bit smoother!

I really hope that one day we are lucky enough to return to Villa Bordoni - it's a place that holds many happy memories for us.

We spent three nights of our honeymoon at Villa Bordoni and loved it! The service was fantastic and so helpful. The little restaurant was delicious and very romantic. The rooms were very large with beautiful bathrooms. The location is in the adorable little town of Greve in Chianti - don't be worried when you drive up the windy gravel road to the hotel, it's part of it's charm because you really are able to get away!

As the second phase of our 50th Wedding Anniversary travels to Europe, we spent two
great evenings at the Villa Bordoni. Although the villa is a bit off the beaten track from
Greve, the view from the small, unpaved road is spectacular. The Inn is an upgraded
castle, and the modernization of rooms and grounds meets all expectations. We enjoyed
a reasonably priced Junior Suite, and the views, grounds, and overall experience were a
highlight of our times in Venice, Almafi, and Roma.
We had booked dinner reservations our first evening of stay, but after the excellence of the
first evening's food, swiftly added our second night. For a small facility, the villa offers a
great dining experience. The two owners, from Scotland, have two other restaurants
in Florence, and the chef's creations at the Greve location are as good as the Florence
site. We found the owners to be most gracious, interested in our enjoyment, and very
willing to share info. We came away with a super recipe for Tiramisu.
We have stayed in a number of converted castles, B&B's, and Inns in Tuscany and Umbria.
The Villa Bordoni ranks at the top of the list of locations which combine quality of service,
location, and value for amounts spent. We have no reservations in recommending the Villa
for a short or longer stay. We did not try the cooking school due to time constraints, but if
we returned would do so.
