“We'll be back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2013

The ride up the unsealed road had the 4 of us wondering what was waiting for us at the top of the hill. What we found was a jewel! The Villa Bordoni was everything we wanted. The staff was excellent and so willing to help with directions and suggestions to fill our 10 days in Tuscany. The breakfast was excellent and Colin, the chef, kept us guessing what culinary delight he would grace our table with at night. David and Catherine have put together a world class staff and we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: We loved the Limonia room. The private outdoor patio was amazing.

We decided to go back to Villa Bordoni after a wonderful trip three years ago. We rarely go back to the same place twice, but made an exception this time round. Once again we were made very welcome and the food was excellent. We would definitely go again in the future.

An idyllic location, great service, amazing food and a beautiful villa. One of the best beds I have ever solely in. Can't wait to come back and drink more of the delicious Batar whilst sitting in the garden.

If you're looking for tranquility and beauty...along with excellent food and that personal service....we found this place to be a real jewel..we were't sure entirely what to expect when we arrived other than what we'd seen online..but it soon became clear that we were in for a week of pure relaxation and great food and wine, teamed with superb service. It was our honeymoon and we wanted to kick back relax, look around the local area and generally do very little. We found this to be the perfect place to do that. our room was lovely, it had a beautiful terrace overlooking the Tuscan hills and views were incredible. We had our own lemon tree on the terrace, along with a retractable roof, so if we wanted sun or shade it was all that the push of a button. The owners and their team can't do enough for you. After day 2, they knew what coffee we drank at breakfast and if we were slightly early then a coffee was always waiting for us before breakfast began. We'd visit again and again...the meals were so good...fresh local produce that meant we were hooked on eating in house a lot. The surrounding areas were lovely, so it was a great place to venture out and find hidden gems...
Definitely needed a car as it's quite a hide away which we loved! But once you get used to it it's pretty easy to find and well sign posted... We loved the fact that it was hidden away yet close enough to jump in the car and be in the lovely little city. Florence was only 40 mins away as were some of the other sights to see..so we got to do everything and still come back to the villa and relax without feeling we'd tired ourselves out too much! Can't recommend this place enough..it's truly beautiful!

Room Tip: If it's available ask for the Limonia room ( the one with the lemon tree...it's the only one...

If you want a central base in Tuscany, this is hard to beat. Set in the rolling vineyards of Chianti, it's a beautifully renovated farmhouse where each of the dozen rooms are decorated differently and with exceptional taste. Not just a hotel/restaurant but a clearly a labour of love for the owners. The vibe is informal but the attention to detail in all things belies it's casualness.

You certainly have to seek it out, it is well hidden in the countryside, but that only adds to the feeling of exclusivity. Some reviewers have mentioned they got lost finding it, but we found their directions to get there from Florence spot on. My wife and I stayed for two nights and ate there in the evenings, both food and wine excellent, as were all the staff. We took full advantage of the pool, which we had to ourselves as none of the other guests used it. I particularly enjoyed a stroll down the road at sunset, truly inspiring surrounding scenery.

We visited Sienna on our second day via the scenic route, the SR222. It took about an hour to get there although the road was so winding due to the hills it was like being on a rollercoaster. Great scenery though, well worth it.

Room Tip: Best to combine the Sat Nav with a map and following road signs. If there was ever a good place to g...

I have just returned from our honeymoon in Tuscany. We wanted a reliably fabulous place so we chose to return to the the Villa Bordoni. This was our third visit to the Bordoni but our first in their lovely honeymoon room with its view across the vineyards and hills. The decor in the hotel is as fresh as it was on our first visit five years ago, the rooms are stylish and well appointed with plentiful storage. The service is impeccable but friendly and the food delicious. My favourite meal is breakfast taken on the terrace overlooking the garden.
There is plenty to do in the area: exploring the old towns, sampling food and wine. You will need a car and I recommend a good map rather than only relying on a Satnav, a combination of both works well. Driving can be nerve wracking but the views repay the effort. I'm looking forward to returning!

Villa Bardoni was the absolute nicest place I have ever stayed in Europe! From the owners, David and Catherine, and their complete staff, Riccardo, Farida, Hugo, Malvena, Zaman and their classically trained London chef, Colin, it was spectacular! It is an old family residence that's been completely restored to the utmost in period pieces that are outstanding and comfortable! Nothing has been left to chance, including the gardens and pool area! The restaurant in the villa has an outstanding menu, and every night, David and Colin offered up special dishes to enhance the dining experience! It is a beautiful place that sits high in the hills above Greve with wonderful views of the Italian countryside! WE WILL BE BACK! IT IS THE BOMB!!!! Mike Carpenter

Room Tip: We stayed in the "chicken coop", separate from the villa, and it was magnificent, but all...
