This was a great place to spend a week. Enzo is VERY knowledgeable about the area (he's lived in the Terni area all his life) and is incredibly accommodating in helping you get settled in. If you stay for a week, you get a free hiking tour with your stay. I presume most people choose the Marmore Waterfalls, as we did. It was well worth it, if for nothing else to hear him explain the history.
It's set up in the mountains in a quaint little village. The people are friendly and the house is really quite homey. Enzo provides you with everything you need to just relax or even make your own meals. In the week we stayed we were able to make the following day trips with ease:
Road trip to Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini
A nature reserve
Small town festival in Piediluco
A hike to Umbriano- deserted mountain top town
Definately a place to check out, especially for the price.
The rental is delightful inside, well equipped, and built into the complex structure that typifies an Italian hill-top village. It has a small area outside where we regularly had our breakfast and evening meals, with view over the valley to the tree-clad hills beyond... and where a cuckoo sang most days (hadn't heard one in years!)
Enzo (the owner) did all he could to make us welcome, and provided copious maps for local/regional visits and local walks.
Miranda was a beautiful, restful place to stay. Absolute basics can be bought in the village but for routine shopping the Co-op in Terni is both good and convenient. If there is any drawback at all to the location, then it's need to repeat the c.10-15 min tortuous (but lovely!) drive down to/up from the main road if you want to go anywhere else... but overall, that's a small price to pay for the privilege of staying in such a wonderful place.
