“Excellent base for exploring Venice on a budget”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

I stayed here with my boyfriend as we were wanting to explore Venice but the hotel prices for the city and out on the Lido were just to expensive for our budget.

The hotel has a lovely, very modern interior and nice rooms. We have deducted one star as the staff refused to turn on the air conditioning as it was May and for the staff it wasn't hot enough to warrant it. But to a couple from Glasgow we needed it.

The hotel is set on the main road with the shop bars and restaurants right in the heart of Piazza Mancini. There are some liovely shops nearby and do hire a bike and use the great cycle lanes to explore. The Butterfly bike hire shop is just around the corner.

On the next street down (where the local bus route runs) there is a great supermarket called Ins. We got some really tasty food for our own salads, Parma ham, 19 cents for bottled water and some great wines. It really helped keep costs down so we could make the most of our time.

We travelled through to Venice regularly and you don't need yo book through the rep to go. Right across the street it the newsagents where you buy the local bus ticket. They also sell the water us tickets that are essential for traveling round Venice. €6 buys you a 3 day return bus pass that takes you from the bus stop right next to Ins to the waterbus port Punta Sabbioni. The bus is the number 5 and us every 15 mins. It takes about 25 mins to get to the waterbus stop. From there hop on a number 14 that will take you to San Marco ( for st Marks Square). The buses run right up til midnight to you can see the beautiful sun set.

I would recommend this hotel. We only had the breakfast each morning but it was tasty and had plenty of it.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the back. As the Main Street can get very noisy.

We've just returned from a two week stay at the Eden. It's a great hotel, with all the facilities you need. It's kept spotlessly clean, and the reception staff are very helpful. Breakfast is varied and plentiful, with lovely coffee from the machines. ,

Not perfect, a few minor shortcomings : no drawers in the rooms, hard beds, the safe in a dark, low corner of the wardrobe, and, excellent though the scrambled eggs and bacon were, some variety would be appreciated. None of these detract from the rating, though.

I was pleasantly surprised by LDJ itself. Very clean throughout, some lovely places to eat, and a fantastic beach with a pleasant path along most of its length.

We went on an excursion to Treviso, followed by a wine tasting - extremely good trip. We intended to return to Treviso on our own, since there is, from this week, a direct bus. However, that was one of the things we didn't get round to.

We went to Venice on the bus - €8 return. It's a long walk in from the bus station in Venice, but you go through some beautiful squares.

I'd definitely return to both LDJ and the Eden.

Stayed for a week in May, hotel is on the Main Street so excellent for finding restaurants and shops. Takes five minutes to get to the beach, just cross the road and down a side street. The hotel has it's own area with sun beds to use.
Hotel staff are very helpful and it's very clean, nice little pool area at the back.
The beds were very hard so that was a bit annoying, the shower was good though, nice and hot and powerful. Breakfast was ok, your normal continental items. Hot drinks machine is good, the hot chocolate is lovely!!
My husband and I did bed and breakfast so ate out every night, lots of restaurants to choose from and reasonably priced. Love Italian ice cream so was excited to be able to eat it again. Tiramisu is LUSH too.

Room Tip: Well we didn't bother with a balcony room, they are at the front and all you see is the main roa...

A truthful and honest review of our experience!
Myself and my partner stayed here the 3rd week of May 2014!
The hotel team cannot do enough for you, they were young, friendly and very helpful!
The rooms were immaculate, cleaned everyday with the beds made up and fresh white towels.
Even if u got up late there is a door hanger to put on the handle to say 'please clean my room' and was done so promptly!
Free safety deposit box, air conditioning and fridge in the room.
The bed was quite firm :(
Wifi was free at the hotel, you need to get a slip from reception and put in the codes to your phone. If your iPhone is not active then it does knock you offline, which was quite frustrating!
Hotel settings were cosmopolitan, stylistic, vibrant, funky and modern.
We had bed and breakfast which suited us completely!
The breakfast was quite basic but nice, with cereals, yogurt, fruit, ham, cheese, chicken slices, toast, bread rolls, croissants, jams and butter. With choice of tea or various coffees!
Bacon and scrambled egg or hard boiled eggs were available too.
Approximately six weeks before our holiday we emailed the hotel and requested a room. We requested room 125, which was overlooking the square and we got it!
The balcony was great for people watching.
Friday and Saturday nights were noisy, luckily I took my ear plugs to block the noise out.
Whilst sat on the balcony we got bit by Mosquitos.
**BE AWARE OF MOSQUITOS!** Take repellents and USE galore!
The surrounding area was full of bars, restaurants, clothes shops, ice cream parlours and gift shops, spoilt for choice really and was really nice to choose a different restaurant to eat at every night!
There is a bank over the road from the hotel.
The beach was literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel, virtually across the road.
We had a half hour walk turning left out of the hotel to Tropicarium Park and Bodies Revealed Exhibition, which was very interesting. We went on a Monday which was quiet and cost us €30. This was entry into the Aquarium, Predators and Exhibition. All places were inside so great if the weather turned bad or if you had sun burn to get out of the sun for a few hours!
We visited Venice twice, by day and by night fall.
For Venice do not go with the tour operator, go to the tabaccaist opposite the hotel next to pharmacy for bus and boat tickets.
We paid €19.50 for combined bus and boat ticket.
The guy in there speaks very good English and can supply tickets.
The last Marco Polo boat leaves Venice at 7pm, so if you want to stay later you must use the other ferry!
If u require cigarettes the cheapest are €4 for 20 or €40 for 200.
We visited the Black Cat pub several times, which was an English Bar, a 2 minute walk from the Eden hotel, turning right out of the hotel, right hand side, lovely food & drinks!
Ice Cream Parlours are located everywhere, beautiful and plenty of flavours to choose from!
We booked the Thomson trip to Verona and Lake Garda which was on a Tuesday. Very early start and long 11 hour day but was worth it! Our guide was Stefano and was extremely knowledgable. There was a lot of coach travel and little time to spend in Verona and Lake Garda, but was worth seeing as we enjoyed both places and would of been impossible to travel this distance in a day on our own!
Do the speed boat trip on Lake Garda, costs €8 and very good fun! Take a hat and sun cream as was red hot and a real sun trap!
The Local drink was Apreol spritz which was very refreshing.
For Venice becareful where u drink the nearer you are to St.Marks Square it gets very expensive. We had 2 drinks each and cost us €30. So was €7.50 per drink!
As a warning always ask the price of drinks before hand!
We noticed cycles everywhere! Bikes are the most common way of transport.
There was not that many supermarkets.
A good supermarket was called 'INNS' very much like Aldi which was near the bus stops, take a right out of the hotel then left and down the main road.
Defiantly a couples and family resort!
Our Thomson Rep was female called Lesley ,who was lovely and very informative.
She even rang our room to confirm our trip times to Verona and Lake Garda the day before.
Overall fantastic first holiday to Italy and cannot wait to visit another part of Italy again!

Just back from one week at the Eden Hotel where the staff were helpful, especially the young lady at breakfast. It is very modern and spotlessly clean with a lovely pool (freezing due to time of year). Because you are on the main square, you may find the hotel a little noisy but the advantage is you are in the middle of everything so you cannot beat the location.
The bus to Porto Sabbioni where you get the boat to Venice or Murano and Burano (not sure if spelling correct), leaves from the main road behind the hotel.
When we go back we will definitely stay here again, forgot.... they also have sun beds on the beach

Just returned from our week away in May, The Eden is in a great location in the main piazza with a two minute walk from the beach. The roof top pool was stunning but only for relaxing not designed for swimming lengths a fantastic sun trap. The rooms were a normal size however the beds were a little hard. Breakfast was what you would expect from an Italian hotel. Overall a great break.
