Monaco & Quisisana Hotel

My wife and I decided to escape the dreadful English summer (2012) and have a week in the sun. Thomson Holidays were offering a good deal on a package to the Monaco and Qisisana in Lido di Jesolo. We had stayed there before, found it to be good value, so played safe and booked again. Firstly, I must say that Lido di Jesolo is a better beach resort than most of its Italian rivals. It is also bigger than most of its rivals and visitors have to accept that this is a particular kind of holiday that may not appeal to all. The Monaco hotel had made a few improvements since our first visit and the general standard of the place is very good. The location: excellent, on the beach, own garden, own section of beach with brollies, close to the Plaza Aurora and the famous Lido di Jesolo strip. You can catch the bus to the port for your trip to Venice just round the corner from the Plaza. The public areas: Good size reception, lounge and dining rooms - all very clean. The outdoor pool has not changed but is a good size with plenty of sun-loungers. The food: buffet breakfast and evening meal are outstanding. The choices on offer in the evening are a little out-facing but the quality remains very high. The wine list is extensive but it is a little pricey. The bedrooms: quite large by Italian standards. We were in the North wing this time and the room was a little smaller than the South wing but had a bigger balcony, a better view and the morning sun. The bathrooms are a little dated but big enough with a shower over the bath tub, large hand basin, loo and bidet. There is also a hair dryer. The reception staff are multi-lingual and very helpful. The whole thing is supervised by "the General" who ensures that everything runs smoothly and guests can be assured there is no rowdiness or misbehaviour tolerated. I would say that this hotel is geared towards couples rather than families but there is a small childrens pool. Overall, this is a hard act to beat.

Room Tip: North wing gets morning sun and the rooms can get very hot. Rooms in the North wing have good views...

We had a lovely stay at the Monaco and Quisisana (going with Thomson) in the June half-term week as a family with two boys aged 3 ¼ and 1 ¼. Our room was not massive, but had the extra bed and the cot we needed. Everything was very clean. The food at dinner was very good (especially the risottos and filled pasta) although starting at 7.30 was a bit late for dinner for the boys – we managed it by keeping them on UK time. Breakfasts were excellent, especially the chocolate croissants, pancakes cooked to order and fresh pineapple. The pool is not heated so a bit cool in June, although the sea is a good temperature for paddling.

Lido di Jesolo is a good location for a holiday with young children. The flight time is manageable and the resort is very flat. The boys enjoyed splashing in the fountains at Piazza Mazzini and we hired a four seater family bike a couple of times which went down well. In addition, Italians actually like children - unlike the British who tolerate them!

We also had a good trip into Venice as a family and used the public transport of bus and ferry from Punta Sabbioni, which was very easy. In Venice we just wandered the streets to soak up the ambience and also went on the vaporetto (the no.2 is better than the no.1 as less crowded and it takes you all the way round the central island). The only hassles are carrying buggies over canal bridges (they all have steps) and a lack of public toilets.

We booked our holiday at the Monaco & Quisisana last July. It read well in the travel company reviews so we booked and paid our deposit. Then I read the reviews, it's strange we seem to ignore the good reviews and dwell on the bad ones!! All I can say is the Monaco and Quisisana is probably one of the best hotels I've stayed at.

The bad reviews refer to Signor Giannetti at meal times. He stands watching over his domain and if you look closely he is very proud of his hotel and restaurant and he makes sure that everything that is served is of the best quality and is well presented. He did not seem at all miserable to us and in fact always greeted us with a buon giorno or buena sera and a smile, perhaps the people who made negative comments expected a song and dance and a touch of his forelock each time they entered the restaurant!!!

The food in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner is excellent and I would defy anyone to say they could not find anything they liked. The seafood is second to none. Even the most fussiest of eaters and the meat and 2 veg brigade are well catered for with a range of roasts and a myriad of vegatables and roast potatoes.

The hotel is exceptional, the rooms we stayed in may have been a tad small but they were kept cleaned and very tidy each day. They serviced our needs admirably. If you want to lounge around the pool on the odd day there is a charge of 3 euros for a bed and towel. They also have a private strip of beach with deck chairs which are free. Although, I would recommend the pool as your not constantly assailed by the hawkers on the beach ( I wish I had a pound for each time I said no grazia, the one and only time we sat there!!!)

All I can say to those who read the reviews, is the hotel and staff are brilliant!! Ignore the negative reviews and go and see for yourself.

Room Tip: We had side sea view room with a small terrace on the Monaco side of the hotel.

The hotel is extremely well placed for a holiday that requires a little bit of everything. The hotel grounds with sun beds and pool are all extremely well kept and very clean, there is a charge of 3 euros for the sun beds but that includes beach towels, there is a private beach section with no charge and the sea is beautiful. The hotel provides a beach bar that provides anything you should need during the course of the day. The restaurant is exceptional with a variety of food to suit all tastes both for breakfast or dinner. The service provided by all the staff is fantastic, very friendly and polite, nothing is too much trouble and they are all a credit to the Hotel making your stay that little bit more special. The rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard making it a pleasure to come back to at the end of a lond day. The evenings were spent in the wonderful shops and cafe/bars that were up and down the road for miles never ending and a little different as you walked along from everyday shops to high end designer fabulous choice for all.
I will definately be back for another fabulous holiday at the Monaco & Quisisana.

Room Tip: choose an end room with a sea view the balcony is so much bigger and the views amazing

We returned to the Monaco & quisisano hotel after many years and found the quality still excellent. From the charmining and helpful reception staff, the efficient dining room staff and all the support staff nothing was too much trouble. The food was fantastic, from the huge variety at breakfast to the wide range at dinner, there was something to suit all tastes. Very nice safe beach which was raked and cleaned every morning. Sun beds round the pool were very comfortable with a charge of 3 Euros per day but the loungers on the hotels own stretch of beach were free. Good heated swimming pool. Cleanliness of the hotel was very impresssive. Not a lot happened in the hotel in the evening as most guests walked to the main street where there was a great variety of cafes for coffee and drinks. All in all an excellent place for a good holiday.

My wife and I returned to this hotel after a previous successful visit some 16 years. It did not disappoint! The hotel is perfect for a relaxing holiday in a well run comfortable hotel. The buffet meals were fantastic offering numerous choices which would satisfy the most difficult and fussy diner. Mr Giannetti, who was pretty well ever present, maintains the standards through out the hotel and his staff were friendly, attentive without being intrusive, and were a credit to the hotel.

The resort, however has grown tremendously and not really for the better. The beach remains spotless but the bars, shops and restaurants were very repetitive and became very boring after a couple of days.

We will not be returning to the resort but intent to visit the same hotel group elsewhere in Italy.

i spent alot of time checking this hotel out before we went in september.I looked at all its good and not so good points and i can tell you honestly that this is a fantastic hotel!! clean, well run, superb food and excellent service.we got the dreaded room 109 from a previous review,it was ok, a little noise in the mornings with deliveries, thats about it.most of the bad points centre around an 80 year old man staring at his bacon cooking in the morning!!If mr giannetti wants to stand in his own hotel and stare at sea bass in a lemon sauce for 2 hours at night ,just let him.people commenting on how mr giannetti ruined their holiday is a bit extreme. If they had 20 drunken russian yobs tearing through the hotel every night (they do'nt).that would be the sort of thing to ruin your holidayTrust me people your safe and sound here in a great location on the beach.Looking forward to a return visit in the future!
