We stayed here during low season and found most places in the area still open. The apartments are perfectly placed with a bus stop/ taxi rank, supermarkets, amazing restaurants/ bars and the beach just a short walk away. We had a studio room which was actually rather large with all necessities, oven, fridge etc, only thing we didn't have was a washing machine. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool area and found the room lovely and clean. The owner is lovely and very helpful, although she speaks little English, the cleaning staff and receptionist do. Everyone was helpful with directions/ mail etc. The area is lovely, ranging from traditionally Portuguese with a few English bars, roman ruins and a lovely gypsy market which is now at the other end if Quarteira. Great hotel, perfect location, fantastic value for money - highly recommended!

My 6 friends an I planned a trip to here, as my boyfriend is Portuguese, he was a great help.
Great area, great staff, clean and basic but everything you need! Close to everything, shops, cafe, restaurants, everyone that worked in the area were super friendly!
Had a great 7 days there! Definitely go again and stay at Kings!

I know people say 'You get what you pay for'
Myself and my partner spent 4 days in Kings Apt over New Years. We ordered a double room and added it as a Must Have but got a twin instead. We complained and were told they were fully booked up. The shower head was the wrong fitting for the wall unit so the water shot out at 90 degrees unless you took it off the wall and held it. We paid €10 at reception for 3 days broadband only to find that we could barely receive a signal, just enough to open an email (eventually) The self catering apt was spotlessly clean but the gas cooker wasn't hooked up yet and the electric rings didn't work (yes it was switched on ;-} )
As I said the apt was spotless, close to amenities and the woman in reception extremely helpful but it just wasn't what we asked for ...

Just got back(03/11/13) and my Partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. On arrival the reception was closed as it was a sunday. There is a notice board with details and a phone number for you to call but luckily the owner was there so we were shown straight to our apartment. We had booked a one bedroom, but we were given a very large two bedroom(No.7) which was next to the pool. The kitchen was long and narrow, still plenty of room and best of all a washing machine. It was well stocked with pans, cups, plates and so on. Also there was a coffee machine. The living room was very spacious with a dining table and chairs, armchair, bed settee, coffee table and tv cabinet with a small tv. Not much on tv, but you can hire an ariel. There is a spacious bathroom and two double bedrooms at the back. You don't really hear much through the night except for the squeaky beds. Also there is a vent which let light in. We put the cushion from the armchair in front of it, problem solved. We have read about people getting burgled, the owner does tell you to keep all doors and shutters locked when you are out and at night. You'd do this at home, so do it abroad, theft happens everywhere. There is a safe(15 euros) and we could lock the bedroom doors too as they have mortice locks. The room was cleaned twice in the week we stayed with clean towels and bedding. The staff there were very helpful and polite, the owners daughter(I think) was living next door to us.
The Kings is in a residential part of Quarteria, but don't let this put you off. Yes there is some empty/waste land there, but thats Portugal. It all seems to be a little scattered. A short walk down the small hill and you will find miles of beautiful sandy beach, shops, cafes, cash points, bars & restaurants. Some were closed as we went later in the year. If you want a good night out, go to the Irish bar(Baz & Minnies). They're open all year round. Go to the main road, head left, cross over and its about 750 yds on the right. Its on a little side street that leads to the promenade. We went on halloween and this little bar was decorated out to look like a cave, they'd shut through the day to do it. It was really good and everyone was dressed up. We went back the day after, it was still like a cave but the atmosphere there was great. Restaurant Picnic was very good for local cuisine, it doesn't look the best place to eat, but the food is fantastic and the people there are very friendly.
The bus station is about 500 yards away from the kings. Vilamoura is a short bus ride away(4.40euros for a return) but you can walk it in about 20 minutes apparently. Its about 6 euros for a taxi. Try News restaurant in the mariner, a little expensive but well worth it just for the desserts. Be aware, taxis are a little more expensive at night(only a couple of euros). Albufeira is about 40 minutes bus ride(8.50 euros return) and around 20 euros in a taxi one way.
There are little coffee bars all over the three areas, most charge 1 euro for a cup and its probably some of the best coffee i've ever tasted. Most sell cakes too, we had 2 coffees and 2 cakes in one for under 4 euros and it was delicious.
We are looking to visit again soon. I would definitely go to the Kings again, lovely apartment and lovely people. It isn't very disabled friendly though. If you have a wheel chair you will have difficulties unless you are on the ground floor at the front. I have a mobility disability but found it ok, even the walk up the hill on the way home.

Room Tip: We had apartment 7 which is at the back of the complex, quieter there.

Just got back from staying here last week. The place was in a little bit of a run down area but in no way a problem, with an easy walk to the beach, shops and places to eat. Don't expect King's to be a palace as we only paid £87 for 7 nights for the 2 of us,! but it was very clean and had all basic facilities (kettle,tv,bath, shower, toaster, cooker, table and chairs), the receptionist was very friendly (reception is only open from 9am to 1pm and 3pm to 7pm Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday). A swimming pool was also available to use. Be warned that when arriving out of reception opening hours (we arrived at 1am) that the gates will be locked but you will be able to phone a number (so remember to take a mobile with you) on the gate to contact someone who will let you know where to get your keys which are locked in a safe system on the wall by the gates.
Listen to what the receptionist tells you and lock your screens in you room during the day/night for security, we had no problems but be aware whether its home or here thieves are about. You leave them unlocked and your asking for something to happen even if you are on the third floor.
I would recommend this place to stay with no problems.

Just got back from staying in these apartments, and can honestly say was pleasently suprised.
Very spacious , large lounge area, large bedroom with balcony overlooking pool area. Front balcony also has sea view. Large fully equipped kitchen. Easy access to beach on 5min walk away. Bathroom has bath/overhead shower. Toilet, sink, and even a bidet. I would recommend these apartments to any one. ( this apartment is a one bedroom) The studios are a lot smaller.

Room Tip: 2nd and 3rd floor apartments have sea views.

booked late at a cheap rate so didn't expect much, once we worked out how to get in the staff were very good as was the apartment, we had a fully furnished 2 bedroom flat, it's the 1st time we have come back from holiday with only one machine load to do, swimming pool was very very small, don't really think it should be called a pool more like a swimming puddle, stayed for 9 days and had the room cleaned 3 times and the bedding changed once. towards the edge of the resort but only a couple of minutes towards the beach, you can see the turning where there are 2 very good restaurants and a welcoming bar.

Room Tip: rooms on the ground floor facing the main road are ideal
