We were apprehensive after reading a few reviews but decided to go ahead with the booking anyway. It was a last moment booking and already we were paying a fortune for the flight so the accommodation had to be a bit reasonable. And was a great decision to book it.

We reached there at midnight. The person at the reception was waiting only for us as he was about to finish duty. Yet he greeted us well and provided transit to our room as our room was about hundred yards from the main entrance. Room was a no frills clean one. Twin bed, an extra third for 5 year old, clean shower/toilets, air condition. The room was also next to the pool. That's all we needed. Next morning the breakfast was good. It had all the standard stuff you would expect. In the evening there was a live performance at the bar which was ok.

We were also allowed late check-out. Our toilet flush also broke down on the last day but was fixed promptly. The only annoying part is if you're living in rooms 301-320 you need to walk by a little villa which has an irritating German shepherd ready to jump on you if let go free. Thankfully it's kept inside a cage so quite safe to be honest. But still annoying.

The hotel is also a bit far but only €7-10 by taxi to nearest town is reasonable given the price of the accommodation.

All in all great value for money, good hassle free stay and wouldn't mind going back again.

I was very surprised with the Pinhal do Sol hotel, it was a 3 star, but l have been to many 4 star that don't compare with this hotel. It was clean, the staff was friendly, the food was good, we went on an all inclusive and the drinks were of good quality. There are two swimming pools, one being by the bar the other is at the other end of the hotel which is a bit quieter but it has no bar, one of the best things about this hotel is that it only has 56 rooms so it is a friendly place where you get to know most people that are staying there. The hotel is a little way from the nearest town but there is a bus shuttle to Quarteira and Vilamoura, or you can walk to both in about 45 mins if you choose, the taxi back is only 7 Euros. If l was staying for more than a week l would get a car, as you can easily cover the area in a week. There is a big market 10 mins walk from the hotel which is worth going to on a Wednesday.Over all l would recommend this hotel and if we go back to this area would stay again.

We booked this holiday and assumed that it wouldn't be that good for the price. The hotel is a good 10 minutes’ drive from the beach but they provide a free shuttle service and even if the bus is full they do enough trips to get everyone there and back. The staff are lovely, helpful interesting people who go out of their way to help you (all except Reuben- I found him to be rude and I felt he deliberately lost my orders for snacks and would ignore me if a Spanish guest arrived at the bar after me he would reach over me to serve them first). You can get lovely snacks from the bar freshly cooked. The meals were great there was always lots of choice sausages or bacon, fried boiled or scrambled eggs, beans, cooked meats, cheese, yogurts, champagne etc. Lunch you always had a soup, salads, rice, chips and two cooked meat and fish dishes or you could go to the snack bar and order from that menu. Dinner was like lunch but the chef served it to you. We never needed to queue and in 6 days it never repeated the same meat or fish dish. I really don't know what else you could expect from the hotel great value for money we thought.

My only comments for the hotel would be to run the bus later at night into town even if you made a small charge. Have milk in the room with tea and coffee so it is there when you arrive as guests don't know they need to get their own from the bar.
Boiled eggs are too well done do smaller batches more frequently so that guests could have a runny egg. It would be nice if the bar stayed open to all-inclusive till 11pm and included ice creams. Our room was cleaned late in the day 6pm which is always when guests what to come back to their room so it would have been nice if that had been earlier in the day. One last comment re-train Reuben as he lets your staff down!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone thank you for a really relaxing holiday!

After our hotel supplier let us down we were shipped out to this hotel at short notice, so to say we were a little apprehensive is an understatement. However, once we settled in we were more than pleased with the hotel. Yes some of the staff are a little "moody" but some of the staff couldn't be more pleasant if they tried. We were All Inclusive which I strongly recommend because it is a bit out of the way. Yes Lidel is 20 mins down the road and there is a shuttle bus 3 or 4 times a day taking you to the 2 main resorts, but for what you pay it is well worth it, especially if you like a good feed and a cocktail or 3 :-) The food was more than adequate, plenty of choices for everyone, I didn't have one bad meal there all week, and trust me I like my food. The entertainment was a bit lacklustre but that may improve as the season goes on. Just remember that if you do go All Inclusive, you are not immune to tipping, so tip them, you will probably see a major improvement on how they treat you!!! We tipped and we didn't have a problem with any of the staff (although the chef is a bit surly, but that's probably because he's a chef) Probably not the hotel if you have a single child, because once they get bored of the pool there is not much else for them to do, although there is a massive waterpark 10mins down the road. YOU MUST UPGRADE TO SUPERIOR ROOM !!! I cannot stress that enough. and the walls are very thin so expect to hear your neighbours snoring, talking etc.... So, to sum up... If you are a couple/group of friends who want to relax and enjoy a drink or 2 then this hotel is right up your street. If you are a bit pompous and expect 5 star treatment at 3 star prices then this is not the hotel for you, go elsewhere... We enjoyed the holiday , we enjoyed the hotel and we would stay there again no problem...

Room Tip: Upgrade to Superior... We stayed in room 212 and it was massive although the balcony's are quite...

Just back from a 5 night stay at this hotel. We were on a very cheap deal half board and to be honest I didn't expect much but if you are looking for time away chilling out round the pool this is great. The hotel was spotless the rooms were big enough and surprisingly it had air conditioning there was also a fridge and tea and coffee making. We were on half board basis the food was really tasty lots of fresh fish nice salads etc. don't expect a buffet extravaganza as the choice was very limited but it tasted good.
We had our 3 year old with us and she enjoyed the pool a lot.
The hotel runs a bus down to the beach and villamoura 3 times a day which is great for long walks and sunbathing.
I think the staff at reception could do with some people skills not once during our stay did they lift thier head and say hello.
Also the kids play area needs some tidying up or I think thier will be an accident shortly just a few bags of new sand putting down and general wash or hose down of the kids play toys.
All in all what a great hotel for a short break Only a couple of things let it down, but saying that we will definitely go back on a short break again.

Room Tip: We were in room 120 which is quite a walk but with your room key you are given a key to open the fir...

Nice clean comfortable hotel. Shuttle bus is free and takes guests four times a day to
Quartiera and Vilamoura. Taxi about 7 euro to Quarteira.
Or switch off completely and lie by the pool with nice little bar with snacks.
Breakfast nice and very reasonable rates. Will go back!
Close to aqua park!

OK the hotel is a little way out of Quarteira but its not a bad walk if you go via the bird reserve to the beach about 45 minutes. The hotel rooms are cleaned quite well every day and are quite large, if you want a double bed then email them and ask for one. The superior rooms have a fridge, iron and ironing board and tea/coffee making facilities. The restaurant isn't very big so obviously it will get crowded for breakfast and dinner. The food is fairly varied going from salmon, tuna, steak to fish pie and lots of fruit. Yes rice is on the menu with chips but there are also boiled potato's ask the chef, always salad available. Drinks are fairly good, champagne with breakfast, Manuel in the bar is brilliant, avoid the old chap, we called him one shot, you'll find out why! The girls on the reception desk are really helpful, anything you want to know or checking your pickup time just ask them. Nice quiet hotel at a reasonable price.
