“Modern hotel on the beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

Hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport!! Hotel is situated on the prom, meters from the beach. The hotel was quiet and the rooms clean and modern!

We stayed bed and breakfast!! Breakfast is nice! Orange juice, tea and coffee to help yourself too!! Food is buffet style!! There was cereal, toast, fruit, cheese and hams!! They also alternated between bacon and sausage daily!! There was always eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes available!

The beach at the hotel is sand and the sea is lovely! Hotel charge 12 euros a day for sun lounges and a brollie!!

Only real downside to hotel is there is no fridge in the room and no tea & coffee making facilities!!

Also when you check out there was no shower available to use if you have a late flight, which was disappointing! Staff suggested we use the one on the pool side!!

There are ample bars and restaurants on the hotels doorstep. It is a 20 minute walk to the Marina in Vilamoura!! And about 4 euros in a taxi, however there are enough bars and restaurants locally to keep you entertained!!

I would recommend this hotel, it is clean, quiet and in a lovely location

Had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. Our room was cleaned daily and everything was up to a decent standard. Nice view of the beach, if you get a beach view room, if you don't you're stuck looking down the back alleys of Portugal. Service was nice, the people there speak English and help you out with places to go, catching a taxi etc. Good location, however a little far from the main attractions of Albufera.

Breakfast was a nice buffet where you can stack up for the day. Very nice food, slightly oily, but it's fine, we are on holiday after all!

The evening/dinner food was slightly overpriced for what you got and unfortunately there was no free wifi available.

The double room that we bought was in fact a twin room, with two beds pushed together, so not ideal for the romantic week together.

Just make sure you get a beach view.

Stayed for three nights for a golfing and beach break. Recently modernised it is a clean and well run hotel with a great breakfast offer. The room was on the small side but of a high standard, more like a UK city centre hotel standard than a beach resort. The trump card is the beach 30 ft away across the promenade and the shady umbrellas. One small criticism....surely these should be free to hotel guests, 12 E a day per pair is steep if you are there for a week or more. Also pool only has around 30 seats so get up early folks. Perfect for couples, golfers etc. Appeared to be a grown ups hotel with few families around given the time of year. Very professional service with all we spoke to in the restaurant and reception, happy to book taxis and golf for us. Quarteira is perfect for a quiet getaway, plenty of restaurants and bars but not rowdy at all. A 20 minute brisk walk or 8E taxi ride to Vilamoura Marina gives you the best of both worlds.

Room Tip: Ask for a slightly more expensive sea view room.

Stayed for a week on half board. Hotel is spotless with a modern decor. Staff are both helpful and cheerful. Our room was on the 1st floor with a sea view . How ever the view was partially obscured by a large flat roof. The room was small but clean and modern with a shower and no bath. The room had no fridge, no free wifi and the room safe was chargeable all of which should be free for the price we paid for this holiday. Breakfast was very good with a selection of both hot and cold items self serve buffet style. The evening meal was not as good as again it was self serve buffet but with the atmosphere and noise of a school dining hall with kids running around etc. The food in the evening was not great in terms of quality or choice. No free tea coffee or water with dinnner with a scandalous 1,70 Euro charged for a water that u could by from the supermarket for .19 . Bar had a happy hour from 9pm - 10pm but again the atmosphere was dull as ditch water. Entertainment was the usual ''pub singer' murdering classic pop hits from the 70's. The pool area was very small but with the beach only 50 yrds away this was not an issue for us. We spent our time at the beach at the Coral Beach Bar sitting in their deck chairs under a parasol enjoying a beer and their free WIfi. The hotel charge 12 euros for 2 beds and a parasol on the beach. Don't bother have 2 beers for 5.60 enjoy the Free Wifi and deck chairs at the Coral beach bar instead.
Having said all that overall the hotel was a very pleasant place to stay in. I recccomend B & B and avoid the 1st floor with regard to a room with a seaview. Location is perfect for a relaxing bech holiday. Plenty of small cafe style eatery's along the strip which also provides a nice place to walk along day or night. Villamorra is worth a visit with its millionaires car park for boats. Plenty of nice bars and places to eat around the marina.

Room Tip: Avid any room on 1st floor if u want a sea view.

We have just returned from 5 days at this hotel. It is very modern and very clean. Our room was facing the beach so was a great view, but not noisy. Room was small but so clean and well appointed it did not matter. Breakfast was great with hot food, continental, cereals and fruit. They alternated bacon and sausage. We stayed in vilamora last time we were in Portugal. This resort is very close, but has its own identity which was very pleasant. You also get along more for your money. No shower room or facilities once you have checked out which was a bit of a pain. However it is a lovely hotel which is very good value, well recommended

Room Tip: Overlooking beach. Room higher up so don't get street noise. We were on 3rd floor and didn't...

We have just returned from the dom jose hotel. We stayed there for 1 wk with friends, we were bb. We stayed on the 7th floor which was very nice great to wake up with the sound of breaking waves. Rooms are cleaned everyday staff very friendly. The downside is pool to small not enough beds if you go to beach you have to pay 12 euros. No free wifi. There is very nice restaurants we went to mamias best pizza i have tasted also the alcavella you have to be there early to get a table worth the wait. I did enjoy my stay but if i go back to Portugal i would go to another island.

Just got back from a very relaxing week. Definitely worth the sea view, so lovely to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves breaking close by. This hotel is close to four star but is probably 3.5 because no fridges in rooms or perhaps size of pool.
Here's my top ten tips to help make a stay even better!
1. Book a high floor at the front so you get amazing views... And sun for most of the day.
2. Use the coral beach bar across the road for free wifi
3. And for drinks at good prices... Lager at €2.40 a pint, cocktails at €4.00 as opposed to €8 in Vilamoura and nearly that in the hotel.
4. No one is allowed in pool area until it's been cleaned daily. So no need to get up early, just bring your towels down for 9.00ish and you should be OK.
5. You have to buy your own drinks at dinner so we just had a bottle of water, others shared a bottle of beer. Then walk 25 metres and pay a third of the price at many of the cafés. Not much going on in the hotel of an evening so head out or bring your own entertainment
6. Great little shop round the corner, (turn right out of front of hotel and then right again. In the arcade is a great patisserie if you like your cakes) which sells big bottles of water for 85 cents. 5 minutes away is a bigger supermarket on the main road the size of a tesco express store.
7. Visit the fish market at the end of the promenade for a full on experience (bit like a giant mortuary slab with some of the produce still trying to crawl away!!). On a Wednesday there's an outdoor market on a car park just inland from the front, where loads of lovely fruit to buy.
8. We caught the bus to Faro town €4.10 single took 35 minutes from bus station on main road behind the hotel. Lovely old town, surprisingly quiet for high season. Visited chapel of bones and marina. Cobbled streets and nice shopping. Bike hire is cheap and a good way to see a lot of the coastline. Vilamoura marina to people watch is only €5 by taxi.
9. Highlight was definitely river trip/cruise run by transguadiana river cruises ( see other reviews).
10. By all means use the beach sun beds but we thought paying out €12 every day a bit steep. Should have probably just brought a parasol and fold up chairs from shops along the front!
We would definitely go back, especially now we have learnt about the area. The hotel is lovely and the staff friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms are south facing so better for drying towels etc. great for people watching of an e...
