“Good for the Price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2012

After reading reviews here before I left, it was with some trepidation that I rolled up here on the first night! However, despite getting a ground floor apartment, I got a pleasant surprise! The main room was large and bright, with furniture that was fine for the price point (see pics). Some other points:

1. The barbed wire: well, it's not exactly Colditz! In fact it's barely noticeable unless you look for it (like I did after reading about it here!). Given also that the much more upmarket Crown Plaza which is 2 mins away also has (even more discrete) barbed wire around it, this should not concern you. You can see some of the wire in the patio shot if you look really closely!
2. The place is stuck up in a residential area in between the swanky upmarket Vilamoura and the somewhat rough Quarteira. It's about a 15-20 min walk to lively areas in either town in opposite directions. We were advised not to walk around at night (especially the Quarteira side), although we had no issues walking back from the swanky marina after dark.
3. The staff were extremely helpful, organising day trips and providing info.
4. The indoor pool has a few tiles missing but appeared warm enough. The outdoor pool is surprisingly deep and indeed cold. However, once you get used to it, it seems almost warm!

Overall, it's great value and well worth considering if you're on a budget. Otherwise, I'd advise a swankier billet in Vilamoura proper.

Booked this holiday as a cheap break for a week in October. We arrived at 11.00 and was worried that we could not check in until 4, but was told our room would be ready in 30mins. Rooms where very clean but really do need updating but this is only a 3 star hotel. Pool area very clean and pool bar was open. We was told that the bar inside was to be opened in the next few days. I do think this will improve your stay. I noticed on the reviews that people commented on the barb wire, this is not that bad it is only a bit around the top of the fencing. Outside and inside pool where cold. I would go back again as for the price I paid I thought it was good.

Room Tip: If you have young children ask for ground floor as balcony walls very low

We went at the beginning of October for a week, and although we requested a high apartment and got as usual, the complete opposite ground floor apartment we found the room to be huge and nice and clean. Why do the operators ask you for preference and never deliver?

The place was deserted, the weather was high 70's early 80's throughout our stay.
They had a lovely little cafe bar by the pool where we were the main customers. No one else in the hotel seemed to even know about it!

The marina is also very near by though would most probably be a bit too far to walk in the high season as it takes about 20-25 minutes brisk pace. Plenty of taxis though.Marina is great and you see how the rich spend their money!

Down sides would be a few beggars here and there at night pestering by roadsides though if you ignore them they are no trouble.

The flight arrived at Faro and we had to wait for around an hour for another flight to come in so the minibus was full to take people to their hotels. Next time we would prefer to pay for a cab to take us straight away.

All in all the restaurants we tried, and it was a different one each night, all seemed to be very good. The price for a starter, main course and bottle of wine averaged out at around 60 to 70 euros for the both of us which I thought was excellent value. Don't be conned into a restaurant by the walking poster givers. Tell them politely you'll make up your own mind!

We normally go all inclusive but this was a nice change to be able to go out to a different place each night to try out the local menu.
All in all I'd say it was a very enjoyable holiday, but bizzarely enough it could of done with a few more people around the place where we stayed!

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are preferable though we didn't experience much noise on ground floor, so if you...

Had a great time here, room was clean and maids were in everyday. The pool area was very peaceful not many people about. Great location if you wish to be off the beaten track. Great little bar in area abut 5 mins walk away. 10 mins to walk to Vilamoura either via the beach or by main road. Great place just to get away from it all. Attentive staff not in your face. We have been to Vilamoura several time and found this to be a great base. Will be back.

Room Tip: All rooms have pool veiw. Ground floor are studio very comfortable all rooms with balconeys.

Me and my girlfriend actually stayed here last October. Only just doing the review now (Aug 12) because I felt guilty, as I use Tripadvisor all the time - you've got to give a bit back haven't you!

The area IS a bit rough looking and is definately not in a tourist area, but not as bad as some have said and I've walked through much worse places in England and Scotland. Just be sensible about they route you walk back after dark - do a reccy when the sun is out. All of the locals were fine, we had no bother at all, apart from some mild mickey taking of my attempts to speak Portuguese!

The hotel itself was like the Marie Celeste because we were out of season, but the few staff we saw were all friendly and helpful. Our boiler broke in the apartment while we were there and they got it sorted really quickly with no fuss.

We didn't use the indoor pool, but the outdoor pool is nice, with a small bar. There are also some (slightly decrepit!) tennis courts at the back. There had been mention of a library - we didn't find it, unless a small pile of old books on a desk is a library in Portugal. There is a really nice looking indoor bar, but this wasn't open (October), where there is a coin-operated computer with internet access.

The apartments are very big and clean and have plenty of furniture, a little bit old fashioned, but that's a matter of opinion I suppose. We had a downstairs apartment with a very large patio-type area that looked out onto a really nice garden. The kitchen was small but surprisingly well equipped, easily enough to make a proper meal, which we did a couple of times.

It's a fair walk to Vilamoura, but worth it, the harbour is really nice, like a mini Monte-Carlo.

I'd definately stay at the apartments again for the price we paid.

Stayed here with my son for a cheap long weekend away. Pools lovely albeit a bit chilly but hey ho. Rooms big and clean. Lovely big private terrace. Reception very helpful and friendly. 5 mins walk to supermarket and only saw barbed wire when walking round outskirts
Of hotel grounds which I appreciated for security and felt save leaving belongings in room. Lovely beach 10 mins walk away. Poss only downside was vilamoura 20 mins walk away which my 6 year old struggled with after a day in the sun. Felt safe at all times and had no problems at all. Will def return!

Yes, you get what you pay for but the description of these apartments is misleading and i wish we'd paid attention to the reviews on here regarding safety concerns. we were too early for check in so left our bags and went for a wander. There didn't seem to be an easy route from the marina to the apartments so on our return we asked the receptionist the best way,she informed us that at night we shouldn't walk as "it isn't safe". That coupled with the graffiti, barbed wire fences, no 24 hour reception to the rooms and also the mouldy bathroom in the dingy ground floor apartment helped us to quickly move elsewhere. We went to the dom pedro golf and could actually see the club hotel apartamento from our balcony but it could have been the other side of the world!
