We booked this holiday last minute and have to say that the hotel was pleasant. The hotel and rooms were kept exceptionally clean and beds made on a daily basis. The staff were delightful, always helpful. The hotel is quite a walk away from the beach, say ten minutes and the local supermarket some five minutes. The cabs are excellent and very reasonable. Being only B&B have to say that breakfasts were very monotonous, rolls, cheese, ham, cereal every day and no hot food choice. We did have dinner in the hotel and it was excellentt, nice choice and very tasty. So apart from that it was a lovely holiday. Unfortunately the only complaint I have is that the rooms had no balconies, so drying your towels was a bit of a problem, but hey ho,... it was lovely and the weather was just brilliiant. Would recommend it and have a good time.

Booked this hotel for a trip away on my own for a week - although in the end my friend came too for the first few days. And I/we had a great time! The hotel is small, very clean and incredibly friendly - in fact I can't praise the staff enough. The rooms, public areas and pool areas were comprehensively cleaned every day. Reception staff couldn't do enough to help, restaurant staff were friendly and efficient and bar staff second to none! A special mention to Marco, a brilliant, knowledgeable and professional receptionist and, of course, the wonderful Leandro 'barman extraordinaire' who makes the best cocktails in the Algarve (or so he'll tell anyone who listens!) and is full of wit, humour and local knowledge.
The hotel could perhaps benefit from a little modernising, especially the rooms and as is common with 'buffet style' hotel meals the food could be a little uninspiring at times (although anything individually prepared was always excellent) but these are only small observations.
All in all a great week, with great people in a great hotel. Thanks for everything. With lots of love, Louise rm 108

Booked this hotel last minute through easyjet and it was lovely. Very clean and tidy. Rooms cleaned every day. They tidy up, make your bed and clean towels. Staff exeptionally friendly and helpful. Booked bed and breakfast and lots of choice. Bread rolls, cereals etc. Evening meals lovely too overlooking the pool. Pool area really nice and clean. In quiet location but easy reach to supermarket, shops and a fab beach just minutes away. Highley recommended!

We booked this hotel as a last minute deal and we were really pleased with it. It was a bit out of the way, so might not suit everyone but we loved it. About 5 mins walk to the local supermarket and a few minutes past that to the beach and places to eat. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful, and the rooms were very nice and cleaned every day. There's a pool table, huge lounge area, bar, and the pool was lovely. Breakfast was included in the price and was fairly basic (bread buns, cheese, meat, drinks, cereal yogurts, fruit cocktail), but nice all the same. The fact that it was a bit out of town meant that it was nice and quiet, and we had a really lovely time.

I stayed here last September with my best friend as a last minute break. We were both 18 at the time. Initially, we both decided we just wanted to be somewhere quiet and just relax for our weeks break but this was a mistake; Quarteira is a VERY unlively area, the promenade of the beach has some good restaurants to choose from and the beach itself was lovely. For us, we were quickly bored of the area and went to Villamoura, a £5 taxi journey away for better choice of meals out and some ok bars too.
The Zodiaco itself was lovely; on top of a hill and about 10 minutes walk to the beach etc. The poolside area was fine and the water and area very clean. Our rooms were always clean when we returned, with fresh towels and clean sheets each night. The nights were quite cool so often the airconditioning wasn't overly needed when we slept. the bathroom standard was good as many hotels ignore their bathrooms but this was in no state of disrepair and was always clean.

With regards to food, (we were B and B) the Breakfast was ok, plenty of rolls, spreads, jams, meats, cheeses but not so much in the hot food area and the cereals were DISGUSTING! but this wasnt too much bother as the rolls were sufficient for us :)
we did however try the hotel's ala carte one night and enjoyed it so much we had it again. We were so happy that there was good food right under our noses! we were both very glad though that we did not do HB as buffets are very boring!

Tips: Go to the AquaShow water park (its just a name for the park) and also a Safari excursion to the north of the Algarve. it was amazing!!

overall the hotel itself was so reasonable and we were treated really well there, though we felt like the only English in the whole town!!! but you make your own holiday and if you bother, there is plenty to do in the Algarve.

P,S. Thanks very much to MARCO a receptionist there who was a good friend to us and recommended the right places to go. Lauren and Georgia x

just returned from a weeks holiday at the hotel zodiaco on the algarve. Had problem getting into our room on arrival, but once we had booked in we found the room had everything we needed, was clean & tidy. we stayed on a b&b basis, each morning the breakfast room was spotlessly clean, & the buffet style breakfast was plentiful. the staff at the zodiaco were very helpful & nothing was too much trouble for them, from phoning cabs to arranging excursions. the hotel had everything needed for a relaxing break pool table, tennis court & swimming pool. The bar at the hotel was well stocked, although anything purchased was charged to your room as they didnt accept payment for anything purchased. This could cause a problem if youre on a budget as you might end up with a large bill at the end of youre stay. But overall a good 3star hotel, close to the beach, shops, bars etc. The hotel had awide range of guests when we stayed from families to single travellers of all ages. I would recommend yhe hotel zodiaco to anyone looking for a good quality hotel who may be on a budget. I would certainly stay there again.

Older couple/ no children - last mintue break

After reading previous reviews felt I had to address the balance!! We booked this hotel as a cheap last minute short break so weren't expecting too much.

On arrival it is obvious that this is an older hotel but don't be put off!! The Reception staff were friendly and courteous and check in was straightforward. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Large, tiled bathroom with shaver socket, heater and hairdryer. Room was air-conditioned and had TV although only 1 English channel ( but we were in Portugal so wouldn't expect anything more!).

We never used the Restaurant apart from breakfast, however the Bar staff were polite and friendly. Breakfast was adequate with a choice of Rolls/Toast, yoghurts and fruit, cheese/cold meats, cereals and various hot/cold drinks. So maybe the cheese was thinly sliced as previously mentioned in a review but you could have as much as you liked so really not much of a problem!!

The Hotel is on the outskirts of Quarteira but it is a level walk of no more than 10 mins to reach the beginning of the Promenade and Forte Nova beach. A taxi into Villamoura cost approx 6 euros for a wider choice of shops and restaurants.

You get what you pay for and this more than met our expectations.

Go with an open mind and enjoy the Portugese sunshine and friendly people!
