“A Great Experience - Value, Quality and Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2010

Our stay with Maria and her team at this hotel was first rate in every way considering the hotel carries a 3 star rating. The level of cleanliness was extremely high (and I am fussy, believe me) - the general care of the premises and gardens is extremely high and the care from the dedicated team of multi-tasking staff is unassuming and efficient. The hotel catering is the ultimate 'home cooked' meal. Fresh ingredients bought from the market every day, prepared simply and to order resulting in a'gone to someone's house for dinner' experience. I went with my husband, and two sone - 16 and 8 respectively and the close location to the beach, the port and the unspoilt old town, coupled with the lovely pool(s), pool table and air hockey ensured that everyone was happy. There was some in house entertainment which was fun and the ambience in the hotel was relaxing and welcoming at all times. Our visit co-incided with the dreaded 'ash cloud' and I can only say that Maria and her team could not have been more helpful and sympathetic. It is testimony to the ethos of this hotel that this perfect opportunity to maximise on travellers mis-fortune was not maximised upon - just the opposite. I would recommend this hotel for a romantic weekend (some lovely restaurants in the Old Town), golfers (great access to the all the courses but at a fraction of Vilamoura prices), retired couples as the location is quiet (no traffic or night club noise) and families (a really safe location away from the madding crowd but close enough to everything you could need to entertain the family). Well done to Maria - you run a great hotel, supported by a team of clearly devoted and loyal staff. Beccy and Nigel Turnbull xx

Lovely hotel, beach and harbour all within walking distance. Me and my husband were treated superbly when our flights were cancelled several times due to the volcanic ash cloud. We couldn't have asked for more, the staff and Maria were extremely helpful in a stressful situation.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys a warm welcome and friendly staff who are brilliant and worth their weight in gold.

My boyfriend and I have just come back, we thought the hotel was really lovely- honestly there isn't anything bad to say about it - Maria was lovely and always really helpful as were all of the staff members. If you go I advise getting Maria to make some shots because they were fantastic one of them was blue and set on fire in a martini glass :D and you had to drink it through a straw.
The hotel was very lively and most nights other guests at the hotel were at the bar and in the lounge area- there was karaoke and a live band which you couldnt hear from your room so if it wasnt your sort of thing you can go up to your room or there are some really nice bars in the Marina.
The rooms were pretty standard - the cleaners knocked every other day to change the bedding and towels, the pool area was lovely and comfortable pool was a bit cold but i think it was because it was the start of april.
We had a room at the back of the hotel and the sun would be on our balcony around 4 and stay there until it went dark.
We ate at the hotel numerous times and it was quite simple but really good food.
overall I thought the hotel was really nice.
There is a back gate at the rear of the hotel which leads you onto a path that takes you up to Vilamoura... the marina was really really pretty and you will see some beautiful boats..
If you go to the Marina to eat..... Definitely try the chinese resturant next to the sport shop opposite the 'Old Navy'

We will definitely be going back to this hotel it was Brilliant!
Room 104 1st- 8th April!

This is a fairly new hotel, the bedrooms are modern with a good size balcony and roomy bathrooms, unfortunately no 'fridge. The reception, lounge and bar area downstairs are well furnished and comfortable. The reasonable price is reflected in the way the hotel is run. The bedrooms are only cleaned every other day - otherwise they just make the beds and empty the bathroom bin - although on Saturdays and Public Holidays they don't even do that! I really don't expect to make the bed, clean the washbasin and have to ask for toilet rolls in a three star hotel! Bed linen is changed once a week and towels every three days. If you're staying more than a couple of nights do take your own soap and shower gel! The balconies at the front of the hotel get sunshine all day, those on the sides are in shade most of the time.

Meal times are generous but the food is not great. The breakfast menu particularly is a bit tedious with fruit salad, yoghurt, plastic ham and cheese and a hot buffet of baked beans, sausages and scrambled egg, the same every day. Again there is a very limited choice for dinner. Every evening there is a first course of soup or salad, a local main dish of fish or meat, and a piece of fruit or maybe a cake for dessert.

The hotel is located in a residential area, about a ten minute walk to the nearest beach. To get to the Marina in Vilamoura there is a public footpath, with access from the garden, which provides a short cut and again takes about ten minutes. This is OK during the day, but it is messy with litter and grafitti and as the only lighting is from the adjacent street is not a good idea at night. It's a long walk, using the roads, to both Vilamoura and Quarteira seafront.

The few staff are friendly and work very hard, turning their hands to everything. Presumably the three star rating is provided on the accommodation and public areas because the hotel only deserves a maximum of two for everything else.

We stayed in this hotel in early november 2009. We travelled with our 2 year old little boy and were the only people with children in the hotel. However this didn't matter as the staff were very accomodating to us and our little boys needs.

The hotel is beautifully decorated with good size rooms and bathroom. We had a ground floor room which had a large balcony which worked out as a perfectly safe place for our little boy to play. As although the room was on the ground floor we were above ground level so made us feel more secure.

The hotel is a short stroll from the beach and although before we went everyone talked about the alley we never used it. If you walk straight out the front of the hotel and kep right this road takes you staright to a seafront path. So we much preferred to walk along the sea front tha down some little alley way.

The staff were really lovely and very helpful even give us of menu food for our little boy which helped keep him happy. However the food was basic but what do you expect for the price. The menu was simple and so was the food but we were travelling on a budget so knew what to expect and with the strength of the euro against the pound helped to keep our holiday costs down.

One thing i would say is the swimming pool is freezing not sure if this would be warmer in the height of summer but during our stay we only braved the little pool.

The hotel is ideally located for a nice stroll into Vilamoura which has loads of bars and restaurants around the marina. We spent many and afternoon enjoying happy hour whilst the sun shone on the bar fronts. We didn't spend much time in Queteria although we walked down the sea front on one day it was very pleasent and had cafes along the front but we prefffered the beach nearer to Vilamoura.

The beach at this destination is excellent for children who love to dig in the sand, as i spent much of my holiday digging holes in the sand with my little boy.

Overall this is a lovely hotel in a nice location, with good amenities near by. We would maybe considering returning in a year or two. Oh and for the golfers around there are loads of golf courses around to keep you busy.

A tough hotel to find. We had a twin room which was clean with a view over the entrance of the hotel. In our room our heating / air con was'nt working and with it being Feb it was cold and wet. One of the lights in the room was also not working. There was a phone in our room but when I wanted to ring reception to get an iron I was unable due to no listing of numbers of reception ,bar and restaurant. The walls were paper thin, you can here everything in the room either side of you and fom above.
We took the back alley into Vilamoura the first night and I can see how it can be a little scarry so it was the last time we did, we got taxis too and from every night which were around €4.
The staff are very nice and the breakfast was a lovely continental, you also had the option of sausage, eggs and beans.
This hotel was good for the price we paid for it.

Spent sixteen nights at this hotel as part of a five week break in the algarve on a b/b basis. This is a very well maintained hotel and is spotlessly clean although there are few employees. The staff have to be very versatile as they serve meals, man the bar, clean the hotel and man the reception area. The rooms are large and airy with flat screen tvs and the bathrooms are also a good size. All the fixtures are in good condition. The room i was allocated looked into the local football stadium and also overlooked a skateboard and bmx track which would probably not be to everyones liking. however i thought it added an interesting backdrop. The hotel is in a very quiet location and is very handy for both quarteira and villamoura. I had read reports about shady locals hanging about the back lane to the marina but found no problems .The bar area /lobby is a pleasant area with two large plasma tvs with the full sky service.I found this hotel to be excellent value for money at nine pounds a night for b/b.
