I stayed in this hotel with my friends in July 2010. The hotel is ok for beach holiday, but nothing extra. Staff was really helpful and very friendly. Rooms are small but quite cosy. Breakfast could be improved as we got bored with it on third day and cleanliness as well.
Location is between Quarteira and Vilamoura so there is easy access to both of them.

Relaxing and comfortable stay at a delightful small hotel.Attentive and pleasant staff.Good location for both Quarteira and Vilamoura.Good local bus service to Faro etc.Visitors requiring a broad menu choice for dinner should perhaps choose bed/breakfast as the menu is a little limited although of good quality as there are numerous restaurants at Vilamoura marina(about 10 mins walk)which cater for all tastes.

Having read several good reviews prior to travelling we were pleased that the hotel lived up to expectation. The whole hotel was modern, clean and airy. The facilities were exactly as described and the staff were extremely friendly. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and this continued throughout our holiday. Great selection of food at breakfast and very reasonable prices for drinks / snacks etc during the day. Good location being close to the marina and town which offers a huge variety of shops and reataurants. Thank you all for making our holiday such a pleasant experience.

From Maria (the boss .. lol), Cristina, here right hand help, another Maria in the kitchen and all the remaining staff .. very friendly, cannot fault their service.
We had 9 nights in the hotel and apart from one or two noisy golfers everything was excellent. The golfers were soon quitened by a telephone call to Reception then the night staff took action .. well done.
Maria in the kitchen serves up first class normal food, ALL FRESH, all salads and fruit are washed before being prepared. No tummy upsets here.
The Hotel is very clean as is the bedrooms .. one picky fault, the silicone trim around the bath/shower could be renewed but apart from that no problems.
Only 5 minutes stroll to Vilamoura and all the nightlife but far enough away for peace and quite. A gem waiting to be discovered.
The Hotel does put on some entertainment 2/3 times a week for those who just want to chill out.
As for Quarteira .. would not rush back but as the hotel is so close to Vilamoura who needs to !
Overall you will struggle to find better unless you start looking at 4/5 stars.

If you want 5 star luxury and will complain that you have to get your own spoon for ceral at breakfast, then please read no more as this place isn't for you, and I personally wouldn't want anyone like you there with me spoiling a perfect holiday.

The hotel is a "Ronseal" place - it does what it says on the tin. It's clean, serves great food, is cheap and very friendly, perfectly located and worth every penny. It might only give you 2 choices for each of the 3 courses every night, (one night I had a perfectly cooked Red Snapper as the main course) but after 4 days of easily choosing to eat in there we decided we had to at least try somewhere else - just to realise that we'd go back to the hotel again the night after. Yes, and I'll be very honest, there's grafitti on the walls on the side of the football pitch across the back, and yes there are people (kids and young adults) using the skate board park after school and into the evening. Yes, the alley down the back would be a little intimidating at night, and yes it isn't on the beach or on the marina.

BUT (notice it's a huge one - like mine, but that's a glandular problem - honest !!!) At no point did we see gangs of hoodies, never did we feel intimidated, never did we think that the fantastic graffiti wasn't anything but works of urban art. It is so handily placed, a short direct walk takes you to the beach, abundant in bars, restaurants and very few people. To the other side, down the alley and across the car park next to McD's is the marina at Vilamoura. the bar in the hotel was very reasonable, 2.5 euro for a pint, 5 euro for a bottle of house red, and 10 euro for a litre of sangria (not all drunk in the same night I must add).

Overall, the place is very relaxing, very peaceful and nicely tucked away from it all, and yet only minutes into the heart of everything.

We were fortunate to get a great deal last year at the 5 star Sheraton Algarve, very nice, and very luxurious. But the staff were never as helpful or friendly, you couldn't quite relax as well, and the prices were more than double for everything, and it's got nothing around it. Comparing the two, there's one clear winner, the Praia Sol.

Will we be going back again - yes.

Our stay with Maria and her team at this hotel was first rate in every way considering the hotel carries a 3 star rating. The level of cleanliness was extremely high (and I am fussy, believe me) - the general care of the premises and gardens is extremely high and the care from the dedicated team of multi-tasking staff is unassuming and efficient. The hotel catering is the ultimate 'home cooked' meal. Fresh ingredients bought from the market every day, prepared simply and to order resulting in a'gone to someone's house for dinner' experience. I went with my husband, and two sone - 16 and 8 respectively and the close location to the beach, the port and the unspoilt old town, coupled with the lovely pool(s), pool table and air hockey ensured that everyone was happy. There was some in house entertainment which was fun and the ambience in the hotel was relaxing and welcoming at all times. Our visit co-incided with the dreaded 'ash cloud' and I can only say that Maria and her team could not have been more helpful and sympathetic. It is testimony to the ethos of this hotel that this perfect opportunity to maximise on travellers mis-fortune was not maximised upon - just the opposite. I would recommend this hotel for a romantic weekend (some lovely restaurants in the Old Town), golfers (great access to the all the courses but at a fraction of Vilamoura prices), retired couples as the location is quiet (no traffic or night club noise) and families (a really safe location away from the madding crowd but close enough to everything you could need to entertain the family). Well done to Maria - you run a great hotel, supported by a team of clearly devoted and loyal staff. Beccy and Nigel Turnbull xx

Lovely hotel, beach and harbour all within walking distance. Me and my husband were treated superbly when our flights were cancelled several times due to the volcanic ash cloud. We couldn't have asked for more, the staff and Maria were extremely helpful in a stressful situation.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys a warm welcome and friendly staff who are brilliant and worth their weight in gold.
