This place has a nice ambience, good size tables on a patio or inside. Everything is cooked fresh and to perfection so do not expect "fast food".
Ask for your drinks and Bolo de Caco ( delicious garlic bread local style) and they should arrive quickly and enable you to chill out while the rest of your order is prepared. Be warned, portions are generous there is no miserly British portion control at this place, Quality, courtesy and Madeiran generosity brings customers back again and again.
The house red is particularly good value and very drinkable with a wide choice of carafe size.
The medium dry Madeira was also particularly memorable.
The Espada or Black Scabbard Fish, was particularly fresh and good and available in a variety of fantastic sauces. Skewered meats faultless and delicious and chicken breasts in port another favourite.
At lunch time they offer half portions which is useful.
Note they are closed for a well earned rest on most Sundays but there are always a handful of other establishments open nearby.
