“Views are smashing”

Went in for a drink to start with and ended up smelling the food and ordering some great lamb. It was a slow cooked dish and was tender and really good. We had a lovely night here and found the waiter friendly and with views of the sea it has it all.

“Great ambiance, food not convincing”
Reviewed 16 October 2012

You really have to distinguish if you go there for having a drink or if you want to have dinner. For a drink, it is great ( I would give 5 points!) You are sitting directly above the sea with a great view, there are tropic flowers and plants in the garden, the interieur is very stylish and modern. The service was very friendly and keen.
But avoid it for eating! (I would give 2 points!). It is not bad, not at all. But it is nothing special neither. And for "ok" meals, prices are definitly too high! We had a traditional Espetada which was very well done (and dry!) even if we had it ordered medium cooked. The same with the tuna steak: dry, almost tough.the mussels were not fresh but came directly out of the freezer The bread (bolo do caco) was definitly not fresh at all - also very dry just as the tuna and the beef. However, the milho frito was delicious. But there are enough places on Madeira where all the food is really good so that I would not go there again.

“Bad service”
Reviewed 25 September 2012

Lovely location for this restaurant - but service lets it down. Went in for a drink on evening and left after 15 minutes as no-one bothered to come and serve us. There were only 4 other tables occupied at the time, not exactly run off their feet!

“Fantastic food and great service”
Reviewed 13 August 2012

This place has the most yummy, well cooked Lamp of the island and it was very refreshing to be served something else than over cooked Portugese potatoes and vegetables as gets served in most places. Our lamb rack came with an excellent oven potato dish and lovely bean salad with a cute edible flower on top. They also have some great Portugese seafood dishes like fresh local fish, squid and limpets which were particular yummy. We tried a quite a few deserts and I simply loved the Chocolate duet, Passionfruit pudding and Apple surprise, but stay away from the Caramel pudding as the texture and taste is just not very nice. The service here was amazing and Sergio especially made us feel so very special with his wonderful wine recommendations, special self invented cocktails and relaxed but professional manner. The location is also very nice as it has outdoor seatings with stunning view over the sea and cliffs.

“Stylish and friendly with great food”
Reviewed 21 December 2011

Firstly the grilled squid. The best ever.
There was vegetarian choice as well as lots of seafood and some meats. Service was attentive, the wine menu good value and the squid so good that we had to come back to make sure it was not a fluke.
The restaurant overlooks the sea and is reached down a path to the side of the hotel. We pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of food.
