Really liked it here. Room was fab - big, kind of funky, clean lines, etc. just the way I like it. Really clean, which is a big bonus in my world. Bed v comfortable. Lovey sheets & towels. Can't fault the accommodation at all.
The restaurant was fine. Food was ok. I've tasted better, but also a lot worse. I'd say it lowers the quality of the accommodation, but who am I to reason why.... That being said the staff were really nice, so no quibbles there.
The beach bar across the road serves great food for dinner if you're stuck.
Did not get a huge amount of use of the main hotel up the cliff, but why would you need to with the sea across the road.
All in all I really liked it here and would definitely return.

Stopped for a drink and one course dinner. Tables on the pavement next to the beach sufered from the on-beach icecream bar's amplified music and announcer - it sounded like an club 18-30's evening.

Food was tastie but 'stylishly small' portions, service was help and friendly and the kitchen adapted a dish to meet a request for 'plain chicken and pasta'. Bill was more than elsewhere but still low by UK standards. We elected to do desert elsewhere (drove to Ribeira Brava)

Our guide book said Porto Do Sol was a great place to watch the sun-set - it wasn't - hardly the hotel's issue

This was our 2nd stop in Madeira, we got here , parked the convertible and never left. It was sunny every day, the hotel was an EXCELLENT value , right on the ocean with a little inlet for safe swimming in front of it and you get to use (fully use) all the excellent amenities of the sister property, the Estalagem , just up the hill. I will say if you have bad knees or you are out of shape it may be best to stay at the Estalagem as the walk up is quick, but steep. I rather enjoyed it, but i can see how it would not be good for those in their older years or if you have any physical problems . The food at the Hotel da Vila is a different menu from the Estalagem , so be sure to check them both out. Its a great little find in a super sunny part of the island. Nothing bad to say.

Room Tip: all the rooms are great, but maybe try to get one on a higher floor for a better view of the sea

We had such a good time in Hotel da Vila. It is a cute hotel on the boulevard of the small town Ponta do Sol. Ponta do Sol is a good place to stay in order to explore the rest of Madeira. All hotel guest can also make use of the larger Estalagem da Ponta do Sol hotel nearby on the cliff. This hotel is just 4 min away and has a great pool and also a very good restaurant.

The rooms are clean, fresh and have a nice design touch. What really made our stay was the staf of both Hotels. They were friendly, happy and helpful and always had time for a talk.

Try the Yoga sessions the hotel provides. You will love the experience and the view from the cliff top. It is only one time a week but you can ask the yoga teacher if she can come again to teach. She will...

Madeira has beautifull nature. You can go on amazing walks. If you rent a car you can explore the island very easy because the roads are very good. Almost all the locals speak english or try to and are friendly.

Room Tip: definitly on the 3rd floor room 35 or on the second floor room 25

Stayed for a week in September which was not long enough. The service was second to none anywhere. Staff were excellent. It is a hidden gem so much so were are returning in January to celibrate my biryhday can not wait. The sister Hotel on the hill has a beautiful pool sauna and spa all of which you can use they are very friendly. Its taken me soo long to write this because it is most certainly a place you want to keep to yourself, but alas the total service, standard and excellence of all concerened at both hotels needs recognition and above all needs to be celebrated. A resort and hotel that is one in a milion. Thanks everyone you are the best. Graham and Deborah.

Room Tip: Room 35 has beautiful views to the front and side.

It's a very peaceful hotel with friendly staff. Our stay was totally relaxing and we want to go back)).
At first I was surprised that absolutely everything in the room was white but then the combination of sun, sea and white colour proved to be breath-taking. I just fell in love with the place.
I also enjoyed the facilities of Estalagem on the cliff: sauna and swimming-pools were very good.
Other pleasant features include pick-up from the airport and organized levada walks from the hotel.
If you are going there, you will enjoy)).

We agree in full with other travellers: the hotel is great, confortable, the small little village is fine, the beach is beautiful. It's true that the breakfast service is not as good as the bar service during the day or the restaurant. As this hotel is managed by the same group of Estalagem, we could expect more as we have already been in Estalagem. But considering it costs 40% less, it's a great value with the advantage of having the stone beach in front of us.

Room Tip: Our third floor room was great, but we had two beds put together instead of a double bed.
