We were in town for a wedding, approximately 25 or more of us, some checked in on Friday (11/25) and some checked in on Saturday night (11/26). Well our night became very eventful on Saturday night as there was a Black White Attire Party going on in one of the main conference rooms. The elevators became backed up with guests that were attending this party, but some of these guests of the party were not actually staying in the hotel. We were subjected to rude language, intoxicated folks everywhere, and people publicly smoking marijuana, listening to individuals fussing and cussing from 3:00am-6:00am in the morning. Majority of the wedding guests were on the 18th and 19th floor and we all witnessed and complained about the above issues. We had two family members with children that had to call security twice due to the strong smell of marijuana that was coming into their rooms. For those of us on the 18th floor, we had to listen to a young lady kick and bang on a door for about an hour, listen to party goers coming back loud and extremely drunk. My cousin was in the room next door to us, and she had an intoxicated party goer banging on her door at 3:15 in the morning looking for someone. Some of us had paid for two nights of parking, but only to have nowhere to park in the parking garages due to this large party that was being held at the hotel, therefore we had to park on the street. Security was called several times to the 18th floor and finally around 6:00am it was quiet, BUT this did not help for those of us that had to get up early in the morning to travel. Some of us couldn’t even go back to sleep. Those that were able to “take a nap” woke up extremely anger, irritated and very tired. I think Marriott could have handled this situation better. If the Marriott required that this event have their own paid security in order to have this party, why was there not enough noticeable Marriott security for their very own guests? Then we noticed that the local police was called in for an altercation from those attending the party. The Marriott needs to revisit what type of parties they are allowed to have and make those that are having these parties more accountable for their actions. These party goers were horrible and very unruly. Also there needs to be a policy in place that you have to have a key to get on the elevator or some sort of policy or protocol that notates whom is actually staying at the Marriott and who is not. After all of this madness, I will say this, upon checking out and venting our frustrations to the front desk, the manager, Jeff Corcoran was great. After hearing several complaints and there were a lot, as other guests that were not even affiliated with our wedding party and were on different floors were complaining, Jeff handled it well. He apologized as much as he could to ensure us that what we said he took seriously and he was passing on all of these complaints on to the general/district manager. Jeff went as far to give those that had complained a 50% discount off of our bill. Unfortunately, there were some that had already checked out they were not aware of the 50% discount. I could only give this stay a three, due to everything that took place above. I am pretty sure that management will read this and take further precautions when booking events. Also, I called back today to get the corporate number for Marriott, only to be told by the young lady that she did not know, she put me on hold to Google it and she could not find it and gave me the number to the rewards program and said hopefully they could help you. Now you would think that your staff would know the corporate number. I would not want another guest to experience what we had to go through that night.
