Really enjoyed all of the information in the museum. Sad to see that so many of the videos and interactive things were broken in the museum.

“Virginia's role in naval history.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2013

The museum is located on the second floor of the Nauticus. Naval history starts with the American Revolution, with the first exhibit being an English 18 pound naval cannon. Moving on the American Civil War, which is the museum's largest section, the Spanish-American War, first naval air flights, WW1, Battle of the Atlantic. Throughout the museum are a large number of glass cases with models, along with paintings, prints & words of naval commanders.

Any person with a passion for naval history should put this museum on their list. Several staff members are available to answer any questions. One member explained in detail one question about the ironclad USS Monitor.

The admissions has a package deal for the Naval Museum, battleship Wisconsin, & the Nauticus. A tour of the Naval Museum will take a hour & half, if photographing, viewing and reading .

The nearest parking garage is the Town Point Garage, 600 feet east of the Nauticus, on 112 West Main Street, with 880 spaces.

THe museum is rich in naval history. I recommend a visit.

Jack L., Syracuse, New York.

I think all will enjoy stepping aboard the historic USS Wisconsin. Im not a history buff and it truly captivated and fascinated me to see the enormous scale of this beautiful vessel. It will definetly impress!

Although the Hampton Roads Naval Museum is located in the Nauticus(which charges admission) it is free to enter Hampton Roads. Although the space is small, there is a lot to see and learn here. There is a canon from the U.S.S. Constellation and a Spainish-American War torpedo and a number of artifacts from the Civil War including the Battle of the Iron Clads. Highly recommend!
