The building itself is beautiful, and certainly not something you'd experience at a box chain-restaurant. The stain glass windows, exposed brick, open beams, vaulted ceilings, Tiffany-style lamps....all beautiful. However, the carpeted floors and outdated furnishings were dirty (dust hanging from lamps) and in need of an overhaul.
On to the food...The food ranged from not-so-great (their exotic game for this Friday, kangaroo) to quite good (seafood fantasia and she-crab soup). The prime rib was not the worst we've ever had, but certainly not the best (my husband ordered rare, and it came out more of a medium rare-medium). Back to the exotic game thing....VERY COOL idea. Part of why we were drawn to FA was the rumors of exotic game night, every Friday. Imagine our delight when we discovered kangaroo was on the menu. We were with a large party, so we ordered one to share, as an appetizer. Well, the meat was ehhhh, and bordered on gamey...not because kangaroo is bad, but because this particular animal hadn't been properly prepared. Bummer.
All in all, the meal was a worthwhile experience, and we might try it again because our children love trying new foods (back to the exotic game night thing). Some Fridays they serve rattlesnake, ostrich, etc. etc. and the kids thought that was rather intriguing.
