A membership is a must if you're local and love the outdoors! Fun fountain area for kids too! Also a viewing area of the airport so you can watch planes land and take off and listen to the air traffic control tower.

This place is beautiful. It has many different kinds of flowers and trees. Good place to walk around, go for a run, or simply appreciate the beauty around and takes picture. It's calm and very good for kids too. There is a tram that departures every hour from the front of the visitor's center. I took it and enjoyed the ride. I would def recommend going to the Botanical Garden if you are in Norfolk.

The Norfolk Botanical Gardens are a lovely oasis right outside the Norfolk International Airport. There you may refresh your spirit and soul by drinking in all of God's beautiful creation of plants, trees, and flowers with a lovely walking area. For those who wish to ride through the gardens, there is a tram with a guide who will explain each area. There is a nice boat to take you for a cruise along the lake beside the gardens, also with a guide who offers a good history and explanation of the gardens. The Greek owned cafe has delicious food. My favorite is the delicious lamb-filled gyro- uummm!!! Don't miss the lovely rose garden that is used as a backdrop for weddings and celebrations. There is a nice gift shop where you may find an unusual garden gift to take back to your loved ones.
And for the kids - WOW - the children's garden is one to be remembered especially if they wear a bathing suit or something that can wet under the fun splashing fountains. The children's area is filled with nice activities for the children to learn more about this beautiful nature-filled world.

We go every month, even in the winter. Bike nights are a special treat, we love looking at the gardens and getting exercise at the same time. The WOW children's garden keeps the kids entertained and cool with the sprinkler park. We have gone on the Polar Express tram ride at Christmastime, the Night Hike in the Fall and kids have attended Summer Camp- all excellent run programs in an absolutely beautiful setting.
