The facilities (room, bathroom, kitchen) were all very clean and nice. Also the location of the hostel was fine. Although it is located at the other side of the bridge than the city centre, there were plenty of nice bars/restaurants nearby (next to the water). Also, it is only a 15 minute walk (over the bridge) to the centre
Our stay last weekend in Hostel Gaia Porto was fantastic. We were welcomed by the owner, which is very friendly man. He gave us many recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants which was great. The hostel itself was very clean, we had a room with a shared bathroom. Thank you so much for having us, we would definitely come back.
I had a lovely two night stay at Gaia Porto hostel. A small, family owned hostel. The owners are very kind and easy to talk to. There is a nice breakfast in the morning,very social. The beds are cozy, the location is wonderful in Gaia, and there is a nice little rooftop garden with a wonderful view of the city. Anything you need, they will help you find. If you want to stay a little bit off the beaten path, and have a relaxing stay, this is your place. I would come back anytime. Thank you so much for a wonderful visit!! ❤️
We arrived early and Joao allowed us to leave our luggage at the hostel before exploring the city. He gave us a lot of advice on what to do in Porto which was great.
When we came back, our luggage was in the room and we were offered one glass of porto wine with a delicious slice of homemade cake.
The bedroom (Douro Suite) has a really comfortable and large bed with an en suite bathroom and even a little balcony.
The hostel is really quiet and well located: Porto city centre is 10-15min walk away and you get to have a nice view over the bridge and Porto itself.
The breakfast was really good and it was really nice to have a chat with Joao each morning.
Joao speaks a really good french too.

We had a great stay. Took advantage of the free port tour. Breakfast was good but would have been nice to have something fresh...ie better fruit or boiled eggs.
Room was clean and we were able to borrow an adaptor. Hosts very knowledgeable and accommodating. Would absolutely stay again but noticed afterwards that it was cheaper to book direct than through a comparison site. (i think i used booking.com)
I've stayed in the hostel already a year ago but I keep thinking about it, as it has been one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. It has a lovely warm atmosphere, beautiful decorations and great facilities. Add to it a rooftop common area and homemade tasty breakfast and you get a perfect hostel. I'll be back.
