Hostel Gaia in Porto was the best hostel we have stayed at. Clean and tastefully decorated. Our hosts Joao and Marta were sincere in their efforts to make our stay a good one. It is better than a nice hotel and has a great community vibe. Sharing stories was educational and fun. The rooftop garden was a great place to watch the sunset. A free winery tour, excellent breakfast, quiet atmosphere and good company. Hostel Gaia is a hidden gem that everyone should experience.

Would recommend this hostel to anyone wishing to stay in Porto. The hostel itself is really well decorated, perfectly clean, and a very nice place for relaxing. The room we stayed in was delightful and had a balcony - great for relaxing in the cool breeze. The terraced garden was a great suprise, again really well decorated with great views over the Luis I bridge and surrounding area. We received a very warm welcome from owner Joao on arrival who was very attentive and offered us tips for things to do in addition to providing us delicious cake and port to try! Breakfast was well stocked with good coffee. Location is in the old part of town just a very short walk up hill from the famous port houses at the side of the Douro river. For the price this is an absolute bargain!
