“Average garden, great views”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

The gardens in themselves really aren’t that much, just lawns, some seating & a few palm trees. You wouldn’t go out of your way to visit it.

However the views from the garden fringes, especially over the river Douro, are probably the best in the entire city. You can see right down the Douro in both directions over towards Ribeira, over the Eiffel inspired Dom Louis 1 bridge & also upriver. At one edge is the frightening high upper level of the DL1 , over which you can walk or ride on the metro. Another side is taken with the metro stop itself and the Serra de Pilar monastery, now hosting a small museum. A very expensive 4 min cable car ride from Gaia quayside & Port wine lodges & restaurants, arrives on the riverside, as well as steps for the hardy. So the garden is a place of transit and a viewpoint. Even on a fine day though it’s something of a windy one.

“Nice and quiet place to overlook the Douro and the old city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

The Jardim is located next the Dom Luis iron bridge (built by a Belgian engineer). Yiu cab thus admire the bridge and the city at the other side of the Douro. The Jardim makes it possible to rest in the grass. Don't expect lots of flowers though.

“Beautiful park, with a beautiful view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

This is pretty much on the way if you visit Gaia via Metro or walk over there on the upper level of the bridge. It's a nice place to relax for a while and enjoy the view. Why not even have a picnic...

“Poor gardens but great views”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2013

Small and neat but not much going on except for a strange carved out rock area that might have been surrounded by water but isn't anymore. But the views over Porto are fabulous.

“Rest spot”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2013

Awesome sights of Porto and mostly the Zona Ribeirinha, but the garden itself is a bit neglected. Nevertheless, nice to sit and rest for a short while after crossing the bridge, while enjoying the view.
