“This will be my regular accommodation in Mojácar”
Reviewed 4 October 2013

My work takes me to Mojácar 3 or 4 times each year and I have tried several other hotels (including high-end ones) after my previous favourite closed. Hostal Rincón de Diego is the first to tick all the boxes for me. Ramón is very attentive and helpful, the rooms, although not over-large, are clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The double glazing is particularly effective - a peaceful night's sleep in a holiday resort is not a foregone conclusion! Free off-road parking and a seaview all add to the value! Breakfast was generous - and just waht a long-term dweller in Spain would appreciate. Highly recommended for business or holiday trips.

Room Tip: It's worth asking for a 1st floor room with a sea view.

We stayed in room 6 which was spotlessly clean and had a view of the sea across the road. On arrival we telephoned Ramon who arrived in 2-3 minutes to book us in and show us to our room. The room was simple but had bedside tables, all lights could be operated from the bed. The French windows onto the small balcony were excellent at soundproofing from any activity outside. A wall mounted TV could be watched from the bed and the air con was operated by remote control. The safe in the wardrobe was very useful. The bathroom was modern and a hairdryer was supplied. Breakfast was served in a large and bright room downstairs and consisted of orange juice, cheese and ham, toasted baguette, butter, jams and coffee. Ramon, is a happy and friendly man who offered to help us out with any problem - large or small. He made some good recommendations regarding where to eat and pointed out beautiful beaches on our map. We ate in five different restaurants in the evening and had an excellent meal each time. The hostel is at the quiet end of the shore road and this suited us. As we had a hire car we were able to visit many places in the Parque Natural Cabo de Gata. I would recommend this hostel, the accommodation was very satisfactory and Ramon made us feel very welcome.

Room Tip: Room 6 had recently been refurbished and has a view across the road to the sea

If you want a base to do house hunting in the area this is simply great. Even though the name says hostel, the rooms are to a very good modern high standard. Spotlessly clean with towel changes every day. The bed and pillows are memory foam so you are guaranteed a good nights sleep. Double glazed, soundproofed and air conditioning. Breakfast is 'tostada y tomate y mas': toasted bread, olive oil, tomato, a plate of meats and cheese, plus butter and jam, as well as coffee/tea and orange juice served between 8:30 and 12:00 if you fancy a lie in.
Now to what makes this place special, Ramon. He is very pleasant and helpful owner who will do all he can to make your stay comfortable. He is there seven days a week serving breakfast till lunch when the cafe part closes, then he is about during the day and simply a phone call away for 24/7 support.
I have mobility problems and as soon as he met us, insisted on making a down stairs room available, then brought a chair into the room and a shower stool should I need to use them.
As this place is on Mojácar playa (north side) there are plenty of places to eat and drink at night.
Finally this place is a gem and Ramon is great.

I booked on the reviews from other guests and did not regret my decision! The hostel is situated in the quiet area of Mojacar away from the noise and the busy beaches at the far end of the resort. Although facing the road our room had great double glazing and was very quiet. We stayed in a recently renovated room which was very well decorated with a great bathroom and an extremely comfortable bed!! Breakfast was a simple affair with orange juice, meats, cheese and the obligatory tostada con tomate...plus plenty of good coffee. There are plenty of good restaurants in walking distance plus there a regular bus service up to Mojacar Pueblo if you don't fancy taking the car.

The owner made us feel very welcome and we will definitely make a return visit!

We only stopped here for a couple of nights, and would thoroughly recommend this place.
Ramon, the owner, met us on arrival, and gave us a choice of which room we would like. Although both we saw looked very similar, one was a double, and one a twin, We chose the one that had a sea view. The rooms had obviously been renovated very recently, and were very fresh and modern. Our room had 2 double beds that were very comfy, air conditioning that was very effective and not noisy, and a small flat screen TV mounted on the wall. the bathroom didn't have a bath, but had a modern walk-in shower. It also has a hair dryer in the bathroom.
If I were to be picky about the room and look for a negative, it would be that there was no fridge or mini-bar to store cool drinks.
A basic breakfast was provided by Ramon in his bar area situated at the front of the Hostal. this comprised of fresh toasted baguettes, with a selection of cheeses and cold meats accompanied by a lovely fresh tomatoe puree. Jams/preserves are also available. All washed down with a glass of fruit juice, and a plentful supply of coffee.
Ramon is such a lovely guy, he wouldn't take a penny from us for our stay until we were leaving, and were sure we were happy with everything.

Ramon and his hostal are both delightful. The room was brand new, totally immaculate and quiet. It wasn't big but if you want a comfy bed, cleanliness and super efficient shower at an amazing price this is the place to go. We've never had better value.
