My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 2 night 29th November until the 1st December. Arrived at the hotel at 21:30 and we were greeted by the very friendly, helpful and polite hotel staff. Our room was very spacious and spotless clean, lovely clean bedding, white soft towels and a small collection of toiletries. We had a side sea view which was lovely. The hotel is across the road from the beach and is within easy walking distance to many bars, restaurants and shops. Can not comment on the hotel food as we did not have any meals here due to our short stay as we had places to go and meet people due to us looking to buy a property in Mojacar. We highly recommend this hotel and we will most certainly stay here again.

We picked this hotel because of the positive comments by other travellers and it turned out to be a good choice. The reception on arrival was slightly less than exciting but that was mainly because this is thankfully a mainly Spanish speaking area (i.e. less Brits) and my Spanish is not that good. The room was a bit basic but everything else about the place was excellent - very clean, good location, and the food? - even though it was buffet style that was top notch for selection, quality and quantity. The top dog in the kitchen, Snr Rodgriguez is very friendly and will come and wander about and chat with you in the restaurant. On the same subject, just across the road you will also find Scooby Doos bar and thoughh we don't often eat burgers the ones there were spot on, give them a go with a jug of Sangria on a hot afternoon. Mojacar town is great, pretty whitewashed houses perched on the mountain and fantastic views. Take a little walk down te back streets. The surrounding Andalucian countryside is great - very dusty, mountainous and beautiful, try going into the small villages in the mountains.
All in all an excellent hotel and the only reason that I didn't give it 5 out of 5 was in relation to the room - If you really like the south of Spain as we do the this hotel will not disappoint. No yobs, lots of Spaniards, lots of families having lots of loud but pleasant fun. Worth a go.

We booked Hotel El Puntazo in Mojacar Playa to get away from English people and get an authentic Spanish resort experience. We were not disappointed.
We arrived by taxi (after an ordeal with the hire car I had booked online - buyer beware, there are hidden costs!) which was a rip off really. An hour's journey was 90E, more expensive on account of it being a Saturday!
Arrived at the hotel but had to wait until after 130pm for the room - not a problem though as staff held our bags and we got to enjoy a wind down at the hotel bar. This was very reasonably priced, free tapas with beers (ranging from crisps to olives to nuts), in fact the hotel was one of the cheaper places to eat and drink on the strip.
When we got to the room we were provided a mini bar, which was rather expensive, and dare I say, a little bit mean. For example, the sachets of coffee, which you would think would be complementary, cost 25 cents, sugar 10 cents and coffee mate 15 cents. Needless to say we did not use these on principle and sneaked in shop bought food for snacks and breakfast. This was another issue, I thought I had booked self-catering, but obviously not! Again, the joys of building your holiday online and a fair dose of niaivity on my part! Other than that the room was excellent. Clean, cleaned daily, had a large balcony with views of the sea and of the mountains in the back drop, really lovely. Only real complaint was the fact the beds were two separate singles pushed together, which made cuddling difficult as there was a real danger of falling down the crack!
The pool was small but perfactly formed, very clean, safe and not too busy. There were always free loungers around the pool and the Spanish guests were polite, fun and friendly. The pool was surrounded by lemon trees which had a lovely fragrance.
The food was reasonably priced, we ate at the hotel in the evening on two occasions. The first we were not that impressed, but I think we just didn;t really understand the concept of the buffet. The second visit had lovely, authentic Spanish cuisine, the mussels and gazpacho were excellent, as was the selection of cured meats and cheeses. Wine VERY reasonable at 6E for a very drinkable Rose. The buffet meals are priced at 11E for lunch and dinner. A nice touch was the chef, in full chef whites, checking the quality of food with diners, seemingly proud of the spread he had laid on. The service was excellent with used plates cleared after each visit to the buffet. Beware though, I think you need to know at least SOME Spanish to get by (and why shouldn't you, you are in Spain afterall!). The desserts were delicious and varied, lots of sugary sweet cakes and the like, I aimed to try each one, but was restricted by being too full!
We had a very lazy holiday, opting to DO NOTHING as much as possible. What a place to do it, beautiful people, beautiful sea, beautiful beaches, abundance of places to eat and drink. The prices are not cheap though, but once we got over the exchange rate it was easy to accept the expense for the returns of being there in such a lovely and welcoming place.
Good places to eat we found was Portofinos pizzeria, reasonably priced food and very fresh, for the typical English person's tastes Scooby Do burger bar was excellent, we even tried a kebab joint close to the hotel - very good standard and reasonable. The Albatros was good for the more Spanish fair, especially the seafood paella, chicken wings and deep fried battered mediteranian vegs, mmmmmmmmm! Avoid Isobels but do go for a sandwich and an ice cream at Blu, again lovely service and good quality food.
There wasn't much in the way of night life, we found a rock bar, which was lovely but there was no live music, apparently the mayoress doesn't like it! They also serve food from the grill and were welcoming, beautiful and friendly.
Overall a very positive experience and I look forward to going again, next time I will try to explore more of what this area has to offer!

Good position, free parking, good food, clean and spacious rooms - what more do you want?

The hotel wasn't very busy because it was out of season. I suspect it is popular with locals for holding events but there again it is their country and it is showing that they like the hotel as well.

Arrived late on Sunday and was most welcome by the guy on reception a Spaniard who had trained in the USA.
Room was spacious, clean and well laid out, with very modern bathroom. Evening meal of Paella was excellent as was the standard of breakfast the next morning. All staff were very friendly, particularly the bar waiter. Unfortunately only there one night on route up the coast, beach and bars literally yards away, would like to visit again but would want to be there in summer as weather in October was poor, but thats not the fault of the hotel.

This is a lovely hotel with magnificent views of the sea.. It location on Mojacar Playa could not have been better, within a few minutes walk (5 max) you are in the heart of nice resturants, bars and access to the old town and surrounding villages. The hotel was spotless clean and our room was very spacious, plainly decorated but very comfortable with a huge balcony. The price of accomodation was very reasonable for what you got and the food was nice in the resturant buffet. A very quiet hotel, with great views, good accomodation, central and all at a great price...

The hotel is very well cared for, rooms large and well equipped. Public terrace in nice location, could be nice in clement weather. Food catered for most tastes but nice to have local, Spanish dishes on the menu. The staff spoke excellent English and were very obliging and helpful. Overall excellent value for money by taking advantage of hotel's own special offer. would certainly recomend this hotel for a short break.
