We are CLC members and this is our 4th or 5th stay at California Beach Resorts San Diego Suites. We had a superb 1 bed apartment on the ground floor with a large terrace and access to a garden area overlooking the pool. As always the apartment was cleaned to a high standard prior to our arrival. Housekeeping came in every day to empty the bins which is really welcomed as saves guests a trip to the main refuse bins and keeps risk of pests to a minimum. It would be useful to have more information as to what day the maid will do a midweek clean, as had no idea when to expect this. But I suppose we could have asked.
We ate dinner in the Safari restaurant several times and the food was always very good. There is a good, varied selection. Sadly the resort had reduced staffing levels. Not sure why as there were a lot of guests staying and this then meant service at times in the restaurant was very slow. The staff did their best and worked very hard. Not their fault, there should have been more waiting staff for the amount of people dining. The same problem at Sunrise bar at lunchtimes, only 1 person serving drinks and food, resulting in queues. The resort management ought to know better really. When you have a lot of people staying you need the staff to look after them.
The apartments, although great, could now do with some TLC as furnishings becoming tired. Hopefully CLC have this in the pipeline. The bed was also not the most comfortable and often awoke with a bad back. Better quality mattresses would be a great addition.
All in all, we always enjoy our holidays in this resort and I am sure we will visit again soon.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. It is always nice to hear from our members about their holidays with us and I was glad to see that you again enjoyed your time here. We do have an ongoing refurbishment programme across all our resorts here on the Costa del Sol and I have noted your comments. Your feedback is important to us and we look forward to welcoming you back to the resort.

This was our 5th visit back to California beach resort, and this time we hired the 3 bedroom property in San Diego Suites phase one (Apt 750). We had a huge terrace on the top floor with a breathtaking view overlooking the pool and onwards towards the sea.

As always the apartment was kitted out to a very high standard. Our only minor grumble was with the TV and stereo, which were quite dated and couldn't accept VGA or audio in lines from the laptop or iPhone. When we raised this with the rep, we were told that a new furniture pack would be going in within the next few months. That said, it wasn't a problem.

The pool was an ideal temperature, and there was at least one lifeguard on duty at all times who loved to engage with the kids. There was no problem getting a sunbed, and the fellow guests were friendly and took turns watching the little ones. The kids enjoyed the activities laid on by Team Marina, and on one occasion, restarted the evening kids disco again next to the Safari restaurant when the demand was evident.

The food at Safari restaurant was excellent. Whenever I ordered a medium steak, it was cooked exactly right with a small tinge of red in the middle. I suggest you look into the half board option (22 euros per adult, 3 days minimum) as the most cost effective way of visiting the restaurant - ask in the gift shop.

Overall, another wonderful holiday, and in our opinion, the best value for our points.

Room Tip: Although most blocks in San Diego Suites has a lift, the one we stayed in didn't. If you've...

We stayed here as guests of family who are 'Club La Costa' members.
Stayed in Santa Cruz Suites a Superior Garden Suite - 868
Wow! Was the first reaction from all concerned.
From the moment we arrived until departure I would rate it 10 out of 10.
The area would not have been my choice but that did not matter. The accommodation & resort facilities far exceeded my expectations.
The suite was first class - better kitchen than at home with top class appliances.
All immaculately clean & continually kept so.
The Safari restaurant successfully manages the transformation from daytime snack bar to upmarket restaurant at night.
Appreciation goes to the restaurant manager - JORGEN - for accommodating us in a professional manner late in the evening when they were really busy. And to the chef - ISAIAS - for cooking the most perfect steak. He actually came out to meet us when asked so we could thank him in person.
All in all a perfect relaxing break. And we were fortunate enough to have fabulous weather.
Point to note, don't be fooled by the on site signs "Mijas 3.4" they are referring to the radio station & not the fact that you can walk to Mijas in just under 4 Kilometres!!!! Thankfully we didn't attempt the walk!! However, well worth the 18€ taxi fare. Visiting Mijas Pueblo is a must.
Not sure how it works to "buy into" the Club La Costa regime but can only reiterate that you would not be disappointed with this resort & accommodation.
If you are past holidaying to accommodate school children or your children are still under school age then I would certainly recommend you give this resort a try.

Just returned from another great holiday with CLC.Once again we had a totally relaxing time in great accommodation. Maybe some of the rooms are looking a bit tired but they are always being well maintained and are spotlessly clean.
When we booked this holiday we requested a two bedroom apartment but we were asked to try a one bedroom and a studio lock off. This was great for us, as it gave our son even more space to lounge around in,and his own kitchen area etc. We were given the two rooms for the same points as a two bed,so that was good too.
Once again, both rooms had everything you needed, from Tv and Cd to cooker and fridge. You really don't need anything that isn't provided.
As the rooms were joined we ended up with a great size balcony as we only had to remove a dividing panel between the two...superb !
The pools on site were spotless and although it was peek weeks we never had any problems finding sun beds.
The gardens around the resort are also well maintained and always looking very pretty, just adding something extra again to your wonderful holiday.
We have noticed that people seem disappointed with the beach. This is probably because they only go to the section right in front of the resort. If you go to this beach via the underpass, simply go up the steps and walk towards the castle. In less than 10 minutes you are in Fuengirola, and on the promenade, where all the cafes and bars start. You then have a great choice of beaches.
The only downside to this holiday was the breakfast meeting. We spoke to a rep' who really didn't listen to our requests. We informed her that we had seen updated apartments last year and did not need to see them again and also that we would not be purchasing any extras this time. We also informed her that we only wanted to be shown their new product of Fractions and nothing else.
Everything said must have gone in through one ear and out the ear.We were taken straight to refurbished rooms in three sections of the resort.Even after stating that we had seen one and did not need to see any more,we were still taken to the next one !! Damn annoying !!!
Then we went to the offices for another sales patter. At this time I had had enough and just sat there looking totally fed up. If there were any potential new customers looking at me I probably put them off joining !
This is the first time that I have been fed up with the sales rep'.Maybe we were unlucky this time.It certainly won't stop us going to the resort and I hope it doesn't put anyone off joining as it really is a good way to holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room, better than pool view.

This was our 3rd visit to the CLC resort in Mijas. I had managed to book the San Diego Suites this year by booking well in advance (2 years!) as demand is high from young families like ourselves. The standard room (T2A) for the benefit of CLC members was absolutely lovely and definitely worth the reasonable points we paid. 2 bedrooms (one double one twin) each with own bathroom, kitchen & lounge area and quite a large balcony overlooking the pool. Always a nice touch to have bread jam butter eggs tea coffee & biscuits ready upon arrival. Our room was ready earlier than the 4pm stated but free drinks in any of the bar areas was given while we waited. As before, the Safari, Sunset & Cascade bars & restaurant were lovely - expensive though. Good entertainment in Sunrise bar every night but warning to parents with very young families - the entertainment lasts until 11.30 ish so it is very loud if your room is beside this area as ours was. As our children are 10 & 12 this didn't cause a problem. Only big disappointment is that there seemed to be people from other areas of the resort using Californian Beach pools which they are not allowed to do. A member of staff in san Diego kept brilliant control for the first few days by asking residents for their room cards to check they were allowed to be there. However someone complained about this ( a resident from a different part of the resort!!) and this control stopped which resulted in lack of sunbeds and people who should not have been there using our facilities. We found this most unacceptable as we had to abide by the rules when we stayed in a less luxurious part of the complex last year. I have complained to CLC and am awaiting a response. Very unfair that Californian Beach residents have to pay many more points than those in other areas of resort but who are getting away with using facilities we have paid the points for! Furthermore, the member of staff who was trying to keep order has been suspended with effect from October for being too strict with the rules! Am interested to see CLC Management response to this. Have booked to return next year and am looking forward to it and hope this issue will be resolved satisfactorily.

I was pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you back next year. We welcome feedback from all our members and other guests as it is important to us to help us maintain our standards and services. As you know from previous visits, our resorts here on the Costa del Sol do enjoy their own pool facilities and we have noted your comments and are looking into this. I apologise for any inconvenience caused on this occasion.

This was a promotional visit after I filled in a questionnaire on the Club La Costa website. We initially thought we were staying in the "Marina Del Sol" part of the resort, but were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to "San Diego Suites"
Our apartment was ground floor. 1 bedroom, lounge, 2 bathrooms and a fully fitted kitchen complete with dish washer, washing machine, coffe maker, full cooker.
The terrace was large overlooking beautiful gardens. In fact. the whole of California beach resort is beautifully kept and all the staff were great. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone.
We had the sales presentation the next day. The holiday club concept was explained to us. No pressure sales, the resort sells its self really, however due to other commitments, we had to decline for now.
We had meals in Safari and Zacharys. Food was excellent in both, Safari being the more formal and my favourite meal the 10 days we were on Costa Del Sol. Hake, King prawn and mussels in a Neapolitan sauce.
Fuengirola is a 30 minute walk. We walked it several times and a couple of nights got a taxi back. About 12 Euro. Nice for a change of scene.
Finally a big thank you to everyone at Club La Costa for such an enjoyable weeks holiday
