“Genuinely luxurious - NOT”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 for a stay in June 2013

I have deliberated over whether to give this anything higher than a 3. The others in our party wanted to give a 2. We stayed in the villa for a 2 week stay in early June 2013. My group has rented many houses/villas/casas around the world and I would have to say this was the most disappointing. We would not recommend this villa for the money. After reviewing all the descriptions and pictures, we expected a whole lot more than what we got. The “genuinely luxurious” statement in the description is absolute over statement. The only thing that saved this villa from a 1 was the patio area and views.

Firstly, this villa is a tri-level space with breathtaking views off the patio. The patio area is the real living space of the villa with the outdoor kitchen. We spent most of our days enjoying the sea air and sunshine. The outdoor kitchen was handy as long as you did not want to plug in any additional appliances. We tripped the circuit breaks daily. Depending on the location of breaker, it was multiple times a day. The Pool was not heated and could be a little cold when first entered. One safety issue worth mentioning is that there is no hand hold for the steep steps in the pool, getting out was a little tricky when your feet are wet on slick tile. The hot tub was large enough for 4 people, but we were not able to use it. The water was so overly chlorinated that it burned your eyes to get near it without the cover. We attempted one soak and it ended up with blue fingernails, skin irritation and bleached out suits. We alerted Ely, but got no resolution other than to say the pool man would look into it. The main Kitchen in the house was so small and so lacking in basic needs that I would not have categorized it as a kitchen, but an efficiency. It did not even have on standard oven, just a portable toaster oven appliance. I understand that vacation is about indulging, but we went self-catering just so we could eat in on occasion. Luckily there was a BBQ on the patio. The bedrooms were large enough for our needs, but if you were looking for 2 double beds, then you will be disappointed. The Master bedroom is 2 twins put together and not a double/queen as described. The Villa was defined as 3 bathrooms, but what it did not say was that the third bathroom was on the main level where as the bedrooms were on the lower level. Using the 3rd bathroom was very inconvenient for our stay. Water backing up in the showers was also a major concern. Having a car is a must, even though we were told a bus line was near-by, we never saw a bus. We contacted a scooter company for rentals, but in the end decided the area was not conducive to using a scooter (fast traffic on the main road and no intersecting roads to stay off the main highway). The idea that we had to unlock and lock gates going into/out of the house was not nice. We had issues with the locks sticking making it difficult to unlock or lock so we ended up leaving a few unlocked for the duration. The villa is on a busy residential street that has many cars parked on the curbs. A proficiency with backing vehicles into small narrow spaces is a must. The smaller the car the better. The car port is angled so you will either have to back in for easy pull out or pull in for harder back out. Watch out for the Big gates on the entrance to the car port.

Management Response
10 Aug 2014
This is very disappointing and at odds with nearly all other recent reviews. Why did this group take over one year to make a review? Spanish electrics are not as in the USA or UK but we have a new circuit breaker in place so downtimes are very rare. We have never claimed the pool is heated, in the Spanish sun it is extremely useful to cool down! I don't know what this group of ladies expected but 95% of other European guests have truly enjoyed our villa. C'est la vie.

“Beautiful Villa”

I have deliberated over whether to give this a 4 or 5 star review - if there was a 4.75 option I think I would have gone with that!

Firstly, this villa is absolutely beautiful with undeniably breathtaking views! The living area is spacious, very clean and well maintained. The patio area is where we spent most of our time - it was so lovely being able to see the spectacular sea views from the sun lounger, pool and jaccuzzi! The jaccuzzi is heated so being able to go into it when the sun goes down was great! And to top it off, there's an outdoor kitchen fully equipped with a big fridgefreezer, dishwasher, microwave, sink and washing machine plus plenty of cupboard space - no need to keep going in and out for drinks etc plus it was great when we had BBQ's. The gas BBQ is a great little addition too - we made use of that on a few evenings! Each of the three bedrooms has access to the patio area which is a lovely feature.

There are two lounges and both are really comfortable. There is one main TV with freeview channels (including some sport and movie channels) and the other two TV's run whatever is showing on the main one. There is also airconditioning throughout the villa and it works really well! The Wifi access was a nice feature too - it meant I could keep updating all my friends via facebook on what a lovely place we were staying in! (otherwise known as "bragging"!)

The showers were wonderful - really strong and powerful and lovely and big!

It's very, very secure and private - lots of doors to keep locked and you really feel like you're nicely shut away. Some may find this a nuisance when coming in and out of the Villa but trust me, having had our own family Villa in the same area for the last 12 years and being subject to various "gypsy break ins', the security is definitely a good peace of mind!

Ely manages this property and she was fantastic - she really takes pride in ensuring the Villa is spotless and was on hand to assist with anything we needed.

So, the reason I was deliberating over the rating is because of a couple of minor things that are worth taking into consideration - but it's totally dependent on your priorities and also it didn't detract from our holiday whatsoever so that's why I went with a 5!

The bedrooms are very comfortable and there's plenty of cupboard space, however, in the two main bedrooms there aren't any mirrors (the one in the master bedroom is in an awkward spot so it's pretty useless). Being a girl wanting to get ready for going out etc I found this a little annoying but it wasn't the end of the world - I just used the one big mirror in either the bathroom or the 3rd bedroom that wasn't being used. The bed in the master bedroom is actually one of those electric beds that you can control to move the back up or the leg part up which was great but it's worth noting they are single matresses pushed together because of this. Again, it wasn't a major issue but worth noting. The second bedroom had a huge bed but it was very dark in there as the lighting wasn't great.

The main kitchen is very small with hardly any surface space to prepare food - we went self catering on the basis we would stay in and cook a few times which we still managed to do but it was in quite a tight space - not what you'd think considering the size of the villa. Again, this didn't mean we had a bad holiday - it's just worth a consideration. And it was massively offset on the basis there is a second kitchen on the patio!

It didn't bother us at all as we tend to drive everywhere anyway, but it is in a particularly hilly area so walking anywhere is quite an effort - especially uphill in the heat!!!!

Overall I would definitely recommend this villa if you're looking for a relaxing holiday in a very spacious and comfortable home with fantastic outdoor space.

“beautiful villa, fabulous views!”
Reviewed 31 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We had a wonderful week at Casa Poco Loco. Travelling with our two young daughters, who loved the pool area, where we spent every afternoon. The Villa itself is beautiful and ideal for families with all aged children. We spent most mornings at the beach at Cabopino, as there were a few more bars and restaurants here and was an ideal beach for small children. Cabopino was just 10 minutes in the car along the main road.
Strongly recommend La Plaza restaurant ( at the bottom of the hill) Fantastic food and entertainment (it was an Elvis tribute the night we went) They made our girls feel very welcome, a very family friendly place but with fantastic service and menu.
Overall, brilliant Villa, Prime location, spectacular views. The whole family loved it!
