Owner description: Play with us in one of the most recognizable courses on the Costa del Sol. El Chaparral Golf Club is a paradise both for its spectacular beauty and its particular features for golf lovers. You will not find any other golf course similar to this one in Malaga. The quality of the greens on this course is famous among the Costa del Sol golf clubs.

“Could be better”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 via mobile

I will probably mirror other reviewers of this course. It has the potential to be magnificent! It is let down by the neglected condition of some holes. The layout is fantastic and majority of holes need plotting to score well. I was one of a party of eight consisting of low (2) to high (28 bandit) handicappers and we all enjoyed the course. The greens were decent and true. All the staff were friendly and helpful except the green keepers who were the most ignorant set of t*****s I've come across. We were followed for three holes during which they drove their cutters in front of us and left them running despite us putting out on the greens! I would say it is definitely worth playing.

“Such disappointing condition”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Played el chap on a number of occasions over the past few years and always liked the place, BUT
Over the past year the course has been totally neglected and the greens are as poor as I have played on in spain. Such a shame as has the potential to be a terrific course but we have crossed this of of our list and won't come back until they improve conditions. I hope they are reading the reviews!

“Big problem with thieves around the course and car parking area”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

Played here on Good Friday and were advised by starter not to leave any valuables in our buggies at any time. A lock box facility is provided at starter hut which we used on their advice. When we returned to our car in the visitor space at the end of our game, the vehicle had been broken into and our luggage stolen. Some device was used to copy our remote key when we locked the car and they broke in using that method with no damage to the vehicle. We believe the thieves were lurking nearby when we arrived, waiting to copy our signal.
We asked at the pro-shop for a view of the CCTV and were told the cameras were broken and an engineer was to call on Monday to repair them - Easter Monday? Most unlikely.
During our game there were guys lurking around tee boxes who were not playing golf and we were very careful to keep our equipment close to us. They wandered off after a while.
Very annoying as clearly the club is very aware there is a problem, which they failed to address with appropriate security measures.
We will not be back to this course again to run the risk of further loss.

“There are many better options”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

A group of twelve of us played this course last week. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
The course itself is extremely punishing. Greens are good, fairways, bunkers and rough areas are not well maintained.
Any ball missing the narrow fairways is almost certainly lost which is rather frustrating for the higher handicapper. This course appears to have been designed for the single figure golfer who could play it with an iron off the tee. I have brought a golf group to Costa del Sol and the Algarve for each of the last nine years and having played over 30 courses I can safely say this was my worst experience. Will we be back here? No chance.
