After descending 24 stairs to the pool and then another 34 stairs to the level of our room, we found our terrace with no view (the hedge blocks a road below) and tired plastic furniture. We entered the apartment to find a dark small living area, smelling of old cigarette smoke, with a narrow, noisy spiral staircase up to the small bedroom. The bathroom was so tiny that it was hard to close the door. There was not even hand soap, let alone any toiletries. The shower drained way too slowly. There are numerous, less expensive apartment rentals in Mijas, but we chose to pay more and stay at La Jamisa, thinking it would be include more hotel services (it's listed under hotels on Bookings.com), but no daily cleaning was included. Instead we discovered a list of charges: 5 euro for clean towels or linens, 1,50 euro for a clean tea towel, 5 euro use of washing machine. Choosing a place with a kitchenette, we hoped to eat in a few times as well, but the kitchenette was so cramped, we did not want to prepare anything there but breakfast. Free wifi was an enticement, but we could not connect in the living area and it was weak in the bedroom. Wifi was fine from the terrace or the pool 34 steps up. We wished we had stayed at Hotel Mijas, where breakfast would have been included as well as a nice bathroom for less money. Although advertised as "in town," we still have to walk more than 500 steep paces out the gate to get to the roundabout at the edge of town. We paid cash up front for a week's stay, but departed a day early. It was a feat to carry our luggage. My positive comment is that the view from the pool was lovely, but not worth the price of the room.

I had read several reviews that said Thomas would demand the money straight away - well he really excelled, actually met me outside in the carpark with the bill in his hand!! Talk about German efficiency!! The room furniture was very cheap, no air con though he did provide a ( very noisy) portable fan and there were no toiletries in the shower at all, even the cheapest hotels give you shower gel or something these days. But worst of all he only serves breakfast at 9.30 am, no exceptions. We had to leave at 9 so he told us to get something on the way. Nothing to eat or drink at all.
On the plus side the views are great and there is a nice terrace.
But really, it's one to avoid.

Room Tip: If you want a good room, book somewhere else!!!

My husband and I just returned from an ideal Spanish holiday! Villa La Jamisa was the perfect spot for peace and quiet and gorgeous views. We had a rental car and found it most helpful for day trips and getting in and out of Fuengirola. Only downside was the lack of heat in the room, although it was 60's during the day, evenings were quite chilly!! Gorgeous property and Tom was very helpful and responsive to all of our questions before our arrival. Highly recommend!

We have just returned from Villa Jamisa and would like to say how happy we were with the accommodation. We stayed in the Sun Suite and you should note that the balocony is shared with La Suite which could be a bit awkward if you wanted privacy, however, there are plenty of patio areas around te pool and terrace if this is a problem. The pool shelves quite quicky and although quite small was a welcome treat after a long day out sightseeing and was always kept clean. The Bodega La Gamba is quite small (only two tables when we were there but the food, service and views matched any in The Old Town and beyond - you should eat there at least once! Prices are reasonable as well!
Although we saw little of Yutter (who cooked ), Thomas was most helpful and a very convivable host and if you do not hire a car he charges 29 euros for picking up at malaga and whisking you back to La Jamisa within the half hour. If you require the air conditioning there will be an additional charge - when we went it was 38 degrees during the day and 28 degrees at night!!!!

Our anniversary holiday was made all the more enjoyable by the great service of Jutta and Thomas. We stayed in the Buena Vista apt, (so aptly named!) and Thomas supplied printed information we needed for the apt as well as printed directions for sightseeing. The convience of being able to take meals onsight if we wanted was an added bonus for us. The food and wine were excellant, well prepared, well presented and reasonably priced. Jutta prepared a special dinner just for us on the night of our anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future.

We arrived at La Jamisa following Thomas, the very friendly owners, excellent directions. We stayed in the Buena Vista apartment. There was only 2 of us, so we were absolutely thrilled when Thomas opened the door, to see the size of the place. It was like home from home, modern, airy and bright, with a great terrace with spectacular views of the mountains and the coast in the distance. The place is absolutely spotless and appeared brand new. It's a great base to visit Malaga and Marbella and the village of Mijas, a ten minute stroll away is really pretty. Great if you are looking to unwind and relax. I would say it's more for adults looking to do just that. It may be difficult with pushchairs up the hill, although it wouldn't have stopped me taking little ones there, but a bit too quiet for teenagers. We've had a great time and would love to return. We were only there for a couple of days this time, so didn't manage to fit in a massage or a sauna, but I believe Thomas's wife is fully qualified and I would certainly like to fit in some pampering next time. Overall excellent and would certainly recommend for those who are looking to unwind.

For those who are looking for a hotel, Villa La Jamisa is not a hotel. As the name suggests, it is a property run by a German couple. They rent out a few rooms/bungalows for tourists.
Location: Mijas. View: a glimpse of the sea.
I stayed in the double room - El Jardin. The whole room has a low ceiling. Room was equipped with a 2-seat sofa, a tv, a double bed, a wardrobe, a small desk, and a fridge. The freezer did not work properly though.
Shower was quite spacious. Towels were provided but change of towel will entail extra payment. Soap dispenser in the shower did not work properly.
Guests have their own entrance and they get the keys from the owner.
Free internet, albeit slow.
Owner (the man) was somehow friendly. He provided us with a folder containing information about Mijas and the surroundings.
He also provided us with a clear route information on how to get to the property from Malaga.
Property is located on a private street, up the hill, which can be quite dark at night.
Parking space is provided.
A couple of stairs before we finally reached the room.
Breakfast is upon request.
But as Mijas is very close to Fuengirola... why not try the English breakfast in Fuengirola? However, the cafe's only begin to open their door some times after 9 am. So not many choices before 9 am.
