Villa Crusoe

Villa Crusoe is set in Las Terrazas to the east of the historic pueblo blanco town of Mijas, in the hills above the Costa del Sol. It is a modern, very well appointed villa owned and run by Brian and John. From the moment you arrive you are made totally welcome, they are perfect hosts, and John makes a mean G&T!

The room was a good size, very nicely decorated and spotlessly clean, with a proper king size bed (makes a change to the normal 2 single beds pushed together to make a double!), air conditioning, good size bathroom with bath and shower over the bath, plus Satellite TV and DVD player.

Villa Crusoe is set in a small development of villas and is within walking distance of Mijas centre.. but a car is needed/recommended if you are thinking of dipping your toe into the nightlife of Torremolinos and Fuengirola as well as seeing other parts of Andalucia.. the coastal motorway is just a couple of kilometres away making it a perfect base for sightseeing (Ronda and Granada/Alhambra are driveable for a day visit, we did it and well worth it.. but be advised to prebook Alhambra tickets on the web).
Brian and John made the most amazing breakfast spread, and served at a reasonable hour too.. and that was pretty flexible.. the choice was huge, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, tea/coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, toast, cereal, cheese, ham, chorizo, pastries and croissants plus a cooked breakfast if you wanted.. I think that was about it! All served on the patio overlooking the garden.
The garden is well maintained, sun loungers are supplied, along with umbrellas and beach towels. The pool isn't huge, so don't expect to be able to train for the next Olympics!, but easily big enough for the usual dip and cool off.
There is also a hot tub, fantastic late in the evening watching the stars and supping a G&T!

Oh.. lastly, I should mention that Brian and John have 2 lovely dogs... they are the most friendly and entertaining.. and always wanting a belly rub! But of course if you do have a total aversion to dogs then maybe it's not for you.

A great location, walkable into Mijas, although a car is handy for restaurants outside the village. The breakfast is superb, fantastic hosts who are able to recommend where to eat & places to go.
The villa is 5 star, brilliant pool and a jacuzzi to sit in and watch the night sky. The view to the sea from the villa is a bonus.Bedrooms superb,tv/dvd in each room, fluffy towels in the bathroom, and always hot water.

From the first minute I felt like being a part of the family in the Villa Crusoe. Brian and John are perfect hosts! As a single traveller, I never felt like being at the wrong place.
The location of the Villa gives you a lot of opportunities: it is close to the beaches and to the vibrant (night-)life in Torremolinos and Fuengirola. But it is equally well situated for trips to the less touristy small villages and towns inland and to the stunning mountains. Mijas even has a small network of hiking trails. Or just take a day off and stay in the Villa, at the pool: very relaxing but never boring!

If you want an experience completely different from the conventional hotel holidays, then the Villa Crusoe is simply perfect.
