“Door closed”

Couldn't understand why the doors were shut after all the effort in finding the place. It looked like a traditional church on the outside but it would have been nice to have an opportunity to see he interior.

“History At The Heart Of The Village”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

There are a number of reasons for visiting this church. It is a typical example of the way mosques were converted into churches following the Reconquest. On display is a set of masks representing the Twelve Disciples, dating from the XVII century, and still worn each year by those representing the Disciples in the Holy Week processions. Plaster has been carefully removed from two of the arches at the rear of the church, on the right hand side, to reveal decoration from the earliest days of its use as a church, and exploratory removal of other small areas indicates that there is much still to be revealed.

“A Special Occasion Church”

Just to visit the area, its location and its interior make it such an ideal place for a wedding or special church event. The beautiful sunshine also helps greatly.

“A lovely church”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2013

For the main church in the beautiful village of Frigiliana, this lovely building is an appropriate understatement - here, less means more and there is a sense of real spirituality in its architecture. That simplicity carries on into the interior where the adornments are again understated. I'm not at all surprised that the Church is very popular for weddings and greatly admired by visitors.

“A must if visiting the area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2013 via mobile

What a beautiful little village and a must if you visit the area. The small little streets decorated with beautiful potted plants and even the street manhole covers are decorated with pictures. Lots of little shops buried away in the cobbled streets but beware this is a hilly village and there is some steep climbs but worth every second. We went on a cloudy day and was mesmerised by this place.
