“Stunning Location”
Reviewed 22 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Just returned from Villa Ruiz after a wonderful holiday. The Villa is in a beautiful area ten minutes drive from the main Nerja - Frigialiana Road and therefore only minutes from both. It is in a rural area amidst Mango, Avocado Lemon and Olive trees. The views are wonderful of the mountians and the sea below. The property although being a little dated on the inside is very well kept and the owners could not have been more helpful. We found them a pleasure to deal with. There is a stables just below for anyone who is interested in horse riding. The road to the property is single track with passing places so maybe not good if you are a nervous driver. Other than that we cannot reccomend the property and the owners highly enough. We hope to return soon

“Amazing”
Reviewed 3 October 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed at Villa Ruiz in August 2016 for 14 nights. From the start, this was the perfect stress free holiday. Gerardo, the owner's son who speaks fluent English, met us en route from the airport to guide the way to the villa. When we arrived we couldn't believe our luck! The villa is absolutely lovely - the photos do not do it justice. There is even an amazing sea view from the veranda and view of the mountains from the other side of the villa.

It is well equipped with everything that you will need, from cooking equipment and utensils to a washing machine. The villa is bigger than it appears in the photos and has a lovely rustic feel. Although we went in the Summer, we did think it would also be lovely and cosy in the winter with the open fire burning. There is air conditioning in both bedrooms, but as they both have large shutters on the windows, it is easy to keep the rooms very cool. The shutters also place the rooms into complete darkness, which means no early waking due to the sun coming though curtains - an added bonus!

The pool area is perfect. the owner, Manuel, came and cleaned the pool every couple of days, but was not at all intrusive.

The villa is well situated for Nerja, but a car is most definitely necessary. The road to the villa is as you would expect for the mountain location but is fine once you are used to it. Nerja is a lovely little town and we spent many evenings there enjoying dinner at the various restaurants. The Nerja caves are a must, as is the amazing River Chillar walk.

The communication before our holiday was great and Gerardo gave us his mobile number in case we needed anything during our stay. We had a very minor problem with the wifi and Gerardo was at the villa within the hour to sort it for us.

There are quite a lot of steps down to the pool, and for this reason we wouldn't recommend the villa to families with toddlers or those with mobility problems.

We really couldn't fault Villa Ruiz and would most definitely recommend it.

Lovely peaceful Spanish residence with picturesque views of the surrounding countryside. The property is very well appointed for a self catering holiday and the friendly owners are always available to help if required. Highly recommended and would certainly consider a return visit in the future.

“Far from the maddening crowd”
Reviewed 13 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

What a lovely villa ,two large wardrobes in the bedrooms , plenty of utensils in the kitchen, constant hot water in the bathroom ,shower. Two large terraces with seating for six on each. And a lovely swimming pool .with deck chairs around. But the best part was the peace and quiet ,what a place to relax, away from it all . Gerardo and his family deserve all the good reviewes. Good luck to them .I will be returning if all is well.

“Exceeded all expectations,we will be back!”
Reviewed 10 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We enjoyed a lovely stay in early May with our one year old. A high chair and thoughtfully made up cot were provided for baby. Some groceries were also provided as we arrived late at night and the next day happened to be a Bank holiday. Manuel and his father kindly met us to show the way to the villa. The villa and the service exceeded our expectations. We felt so welcome and would definately come back.

“Two Fabulous Weeks in Villa Ruiz”
Reviewed 23 November 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We wanted something completely relaxing, with everything on site so we didn't have to do too much travelling around. We wanted complete quiet & downtime.
From the first contact with Gerardo and Manuel to arrival, all arrangements, questions and directions were quickly answered and clear.
We had very high expectations after seeing the pictures and reading other reviews but upon arrival we soon realised that as much as all the reviews were positive none could really capture the beauty, tranquility, facilities and the welcome we received and the attention to our queries during our stay.

The villa was situated just a few mins outside Frigiliana, in the valley with fantastic 360 scenery, the village on one side, the mountains behind us, the med laid out on front and beautiful hills all around dotted with white houses and lush fields full of fruit.

The villa was immaculate, with all the accessories we needed though we spent most of the time on the two verandas eating and reading with the rest of the time spent in the fabulous pool, sunbathing or just chilling and reading.

Gerardo and his father would come round once or twice a week to tidy up and always bring us fruit, they were so respectful of our privacy you would hardly see them as they whisked around the garden watering the plants brushing up leaves and tending to the pool.

They were a great source of local information during the festival bringing us leaflets on the events in English and even helping us organise a local taxi so we could both enjoy the tapas, wine and beer on offer without having to drive back to the villa.

We will definitely have this high on our wish list for next years' holiday - as we both sit in the cold Irish winter evenings looking back with envy on the fabulous two weeks we had at Villa Ruiz and envy anyone there enjoying it now!!

Thanks Gerardo & Manuel! Hopefully see you in 2016.
