“Lovely food and cheap”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2014

Having read other reviews we decided to visit this place. We turned up a bit early at midday and ordered some beers (half pints in wine glasses) and to our surprise Tapas of stewed pork and potatoes came out straight away (we thought they'd just opened so wouldnt be cooking yet). We got through another 2 drinks and 2 plates of tapas (local meats and olives, fish balls and fried potatoes) and got speaking to the friendly owner. He then offered us another drink on the house and out came another plate of meats and cheese. All the food was very nice and it was an enjoyable few hours in the sun. To our surprise, maybe even shock, the bill came to 10 Euros. Amazing value and a great time. The only other surprise was how quiet it was, the other restaurants in the town are much more visible and were busier, but it was the off-season.

“Delightfully good restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 December 2013

The location is terrific
The village of Rio Frio is just 2 minutes off the Seville - Granada motorway, and just 3 km from the Malaga - Cordoba motorway. It’s a delightful village with just 300 inhabitants. Home to one of the earliest certified organic fishfarms in Europe, Rio Frio prides itself on being the only known source of the Southern European Sturgeon.
The moment we entered the restaurant we were made to feel really welcome in way that is quite rare in Andalucia. The atmosphere was …. well just happy. No tourists, just Spanish families. We went on a busy Friday lunchtime, but the service was unflustered and quietly efficient, The crew are knowledgeable and yes, really welcoming, and most seem to speak English. Don Francisco, the boss, is a real charmer who clearly keeps a controlling eye on everything.
And the food? The menu is not wildly adventurous, but there’s a much wider choice of more interesting dishes than you would find nearer Granada. We shared the smoked sturgeon as a starter and it was delicate and delicious. The lubina and poached salmon were both perfectly cooked. The wine list was good with interesting Duero wines, and the whole meal was very affordable.
It’s a lovey day out to drive there and eat and drink really well and and be looked after beautifully.

It is going to become a regular for us,

“Matt and Helen”

We visit Rio Frio 5 times a year and always choose casa Raimundo to eat at. The food is fabulous and Cisco who owns it is friendly and welcoming. The food is always prepared to your liking and is always fresh and of high quality. You need to ask Cisco for his menu recommendations. One of us prefers fish and there is always a wide choice, whilst the other chooses meat and would particularly recommend the fillet steak. Service is always fantastic.
Also great for generous tapas with your drinks.

We would highly recommend casa Raimundo . Give it a try.

“Best dinner in Spain!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2013

Visited this restaurant on our last night in Spain, after spending half of our days in Barcelona and the rest in Andalusia.Have to say it was the best dinner we had in Spain!!!We ordered grilled prawns, stuffed trout and the tornedo veal plus some croquettes for appetizer. The prawns could not be any fresher and all dishes were very well cooked and extremely tasty!!!IWe also had two bottles of a great rioja wine!!!This was by far our most interesting and enjoyed experience of Spanish cuisine at a very reasonable price!!!!Highlight of the place is the staff and the lovable owner!!!Very very gentle, happy and hospitable!!!Will be certainly back!!!

“Great find en route from Seville to Granada”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2013

Travelling from Seville I wanted somewhere to stop for lunch about half an hour from Granada. Riofrio seemed ideal as it's right by the A-92, and for a quiet village there's plenty of choice in the way of restaurants. As you come off the motorway Casa Raimundo is at the bottom of the hill on the right. Simple set up, but a very warm welcome from mine host, who explained the menu and helped with the choices. Food was very good.
