A beautiful old palace with high ceiling rooms around a patio. It's great to sleep in a four poster bed. We could profit by a nice view on the church which is worth looking at all the day long in the sunshine and especially during the night with the illmuination of the front part.
Something which appears to be unforgettable.

Room Tip: Don't hesitate to select a room viewing on the church and ... contemplate day and night.

Unfortunately it rained through virtually the whole time of our two-day stay in Ubeda, but in some ways the mist and damp added to the atmosphere of this ancient hilltop town, full of worn Renaissance-era and medieval buildings.
The Parador lived up to expectations. It probably isn't quite 'luxury' but was close enough for me. The building has plenty of history and there are numerous plaques around the walls that explain some of this. Our room was on second floor, large, quiet, clean and with nice view of back of the Sacra Capilla del Salvador. Despite the immediate proximity, church bells were not an issue.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
We ate in the restaurant one evening. I ordered just one course, somewhat to the surprise and even consternation of the maitre d', though I was glad I did as it allowed room for a rich dessert. My main meal was also quite rich, a delectable seafood stew ('Andrajos de Ubeda'). My partner had the green beans and pork followed by a cubed lamb dish, and still found room for dessert. All got ticks of approval. it wasn't a cheap meal by Spanish standards but it was well short of over-the-top expensive, too.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the cathedral or the plaza, naturally

The good impression starts the moment you arrive (via a convoluted route) at the Parador which stands on the far side of a small Plaza. It looks like a palace with its simple baroque design and central doorway. Unfortunately you can only park opposite the hotel for 20 minutes after which you either find an on-street space nearby or pay €18 (I think) for private parking off site.
You enter a large covered patio with tables and chairs. A comfortable reading room is off to the left and there is a pleasant bar downstairs to the far right.
Staff were pleasant and friendly as usual. Our ground floor room was wonderful with a lobby leading to the bathroom and bedroom. The bedroom has high carved wood ceiling. We happened to be staying over the Three Kings period during which there was a special menu in the restaurant. Parador restaurants can be mediocre and poor value but this time they excelled themselves. I hope this means their regular menu meets the same standard.
Beware, however, if you are in any way disabled. There are 4 steep steps up to the entrance followed by 11 less steep steps with a handrail. On the ground floor there are also 3 steep steps giving access to the bedroom corridors.

We stayed at this parador for two nights. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. We ate at the parador restaurant on our first night where we chose the special menu for the festival of the Three Kings. There were five courses as well as little 'extras' and the food was very good indeed especially the soup with salmon quenelles and the fish course.

The only downside to this splendid building was the rather steep stone steps to get in from the street particularly when arriving with luggage. Other than that the building is superb, full of wonderful pictures and with information plaques around to give the visitor historical information. Ubeda old town is on the doorstep and well worth a visit.

All in all a most enjoyable stay in a wonderful parador.

we were traveling with a tour so we were only able to stay one night... would have enjoyed a longer stay in this charming town...the parador itself was very nice...our room had great high ceilings and a nice big bathtub... the window opened, but only looked out into a small roof area with the building all around... others in our group got a small balcony or windows to the street... it really wasn't a problem since we were not here long...the bed was a little hard, but all in all an enjoyable stay

Oh my, what a wonderful place to enjoy old Spain. We arrived just as the sun was setting over the lovely church next door to the Parador of Ubeda. The narrow roads meant that we walked the last few blocks to the parador so what a surprise when we came to this special property. The former palace dating from the 16th century showcases many antiques, lovely tiles, a large inviting lobby, a very appealing bar, and a nice restaurant. There are many markers in the parador relating the history of the parador, the antiques, and the art work. Be sure to read these and learn more about the property and the town. The picturesque town is a treasure. Walking around at night and in the early morning was a unique experience. The sunrise was spectacular. A medieval village everyone should visit.

We were 5 people and part of a large group (50) Swedish tourist on a three days tour to Jaen, Baeza and Ubeda. On our last day after visiting the amazing old town of Ubeda with the amazing guide Andrea, we split the group to go to different cafés for a 20 minutes break, we were in need of restrooms and a cup of coffee. The people at the reception were unfriendly enough to make us feel as if we were stealing their money , pointing very clearly that we were not welcome to use the facilities because that will cost them lots of money in water, toilett paper and soap. Notice that we were only 5-6 persons. When we went to the coffee shop there was no one there, we used the restrooms and went back to the coffee shop still no one there, on our way out, this lady was so upset because we left, I tried to explain that there was nobody to serve us, but she was too upset to listen, and repeatedly said that this was a private hotel, in spite that everybody knows that the Paradores are National. I think that if it had been a private company the owners would choose a more service minded staff . Instead of being kind to the tourist that are the backbone of their industry, these people just shoot themselves in the foot with their lack of sensitivity.
