We have just come back from Viva Cala Mesquida Club, I travelled with my husband and two children (14 & 12). This was our 5th visit to one of the viva hotels and as usual we were not disappointed, the hotel and its grounds are fabulous, clean and spacious. There are 3 pools, the main family pool where the activities take place, the chill out pool and another small family pool over looking the sea.

We booked a swim up apartment which meant that we had a garden with a table & chairs, 2 sun loungers and a hammock which led straight out onto the chill out pool. This apartment was beautiful, it was large and accommodated the four of us perfectly. The apartment was cleaned every day (even though it says 5 times a week). The chill out pool was used by children (including our own) but there were only a few and all of them (regardless of age) behaved very well, no one was messing around and they respected the fact that it was meant to be an adults only pool.

The food in the hotel was great (even for fussy eaters like me). They have a great vegetarian selection and meat selection. They cook fresh food on the grill at each meal setting and there is lots of variety.

The staff were very friendly (in all areas) and the common language spoken was English. The resort appeared to be made up primarily of Germans and Dutch which made for a very nice atmosphere in the resort.

The only down side that we can think of was the evening entertainment, however we entertain ourselves anyway playing games and cards so this wasn't really an issue for us.

The resort is out of the way and thats why we chose it as we do not enjoy the more noisier, busier areas, we go on holiday to relax and chill out. This is not a resort for someone looking for nightlife, bars and restaurants.

Last year we stayed at the Resort (which is next door) and we actually enjoyed this one better as the kids were encouraged to get involved in the activities which they thoroughly enjoyed -however there is not much difference between them.

Its worth noting that the reviews for the Park are likely to be reviews for the club as well as they share the same facilities but not the accommodation. They are just across the road from each other.

Room Tip: The swim up apartments are beautiful.

We loved it here been able to use facilities at both park & club meant we were never bored. We went as a family if 4 with the children aged 11 & 7 & they had a fantastic time. The food was great but the vest thing about it was the staff they were so pleasant & helpful & especially the kids club staff they were amazing. The place is kept so clean & I would def stay here again had an amazing holiday.

Our family: english husband and wife in our mid-thirties and two children (ages 6 and 4.5 years old).

We stayed in a royal terrace room during the first week of the school summer holidays at the end of July 2013.

Positives: stunning location next to the beach, sand dunes and mountains (our room had a great view of all three of these), very easy access to beach, clean rooms and public spaces despite being very busy, good kids club (must be over 4 years old to be left without parent) with multi-lingual staff (albeit staff mainly spoke in German as most people were from there), good nightlife/shows and kids made welcome until it finished at around 11pm (although the tables were hard to come by as it was busy).

Negatives: service was poor ( we complained to reception staff about waitresses walking off to talk to colleagues half way through taking our food order on more than one occasion and rude staff at the pool bar), the adult only pool was supposed to be for over 18 s but consistently had children and babies in there with the life guard turning a blind eye day after day, which we also complained about without much change), sun beds had towels etc left on them from very early morning and sometimes overnight without any policing, so it was hard to find a sun bed that was free), even with a royal terrace room, it will only sleep four people and two people are on uncomfortable sofa beds which take up most of the lounge area when unfolded for the stay. Would be nice to have some two- bedroom rooms.

Conclusion: we loved the royal terrace room with the jacuzzi and well-equipped and luxurious terrace area with the great views, but overall would not return to this particular viva hotel as we preferred the service and food at viva blue hotel (also in Majorca). If we go back, we will book at viva blue in a royal terrace room, even though the location and views would not be as good.

We have 6 days left of our holiday here in cala mesquida! Our impession is that it is a great resort if you like swimming pools and the nice beach! Be aware of that cala mesquida is a very small town! We found two super markets where we could buy water, soda, bread, milk etc. Nice since we did not have the all inclusive offer! Resturant we can recommend is the italian resturant la terrazze with exellent view of the sea! We also went to a bigger town called cala ratjada try pasta pasta if you go here! We also tried the resturant at our resort, this was a big disapointment the meat didn't taste anything! I can not say that you should avoid all incl by this experince but take it under consideration! Yes there are a lot of germans here, so what??? I am from norway! So far my experience with the resort is exellent. Would defintley consider this resort again next year!

All-inclusive is not all inclusive. If only for small kids not for yourselves, this is the right place; if you also think about you want to have fun with you as parents, you better re-consider.

Good:
- This one of VIVA we choose is really close by the beach. You can just walk to the beach in 10-15min if you are tired of swimming pool.
- There are nice restaurants close by; in 30min drive you can really have really nice and/or local restaurant there.
- This is the right place if you plan to visit with little kids even babies (under 6-8 year old). They really have nice exclusive small separate swimming pool called "Pirate swimming Pool" for little kids. With slides from very small to big slides (you can check photos I upload), all for small kids. Of course, still the normal children pool area attached with normal swimming pool. So you can still swim at the same time if you want.
- Kids play grounds ARE outdoor and super. Multi-slides, super
- Separated sleeping room and living room, don’t have to worry if you are watching TV and rest of the members can’t sleep.
- There’s balcony in the front and back, you can always sit outside to read/smoke/talking on the phone if you want to.

Bad:
- The room is really smelly, the smell just came out from the sink. Once you use bathroom for shower or use sink with more water, always put the plug back or else you will have a stinky room whole day/night! After we inform cleaning staff to fix it, still not fixed!
- The bathroom never be cleaned, bed/pillow sheets NEVER be changed - this is TOO MUCH for our stay for 2 weeks!! By the way, cleaning lady only come 3 or 4 days per week (says in your bath room only if you miss that...sorry you don't have clearn towel of the day and you can't get it else where in the hotel...) Guess I have better expectation or definition for years wherever I stay in the hotels...this is really way too far..
- When you use kitchen, you need to clean your own dishes or whatever you use in the room (sorry, no dishwash or spoonge to let you wash them..)
- Only 1 bottle of 1.5l welcome mineral water in day 1, you won't have water from your room anymore and you can't ask for more or else they will charge you. Only small bottle with 330 ml you can only ask from pool bar (open from 10h00-18h00 only; actually until 17h30)
- Leaflets says warm food serve until 17h00, but you already can not get hamburger/fries/pizza...from 16h30 on. Be aware for that!
- Trust me, pool bar food is much better quality than the food you can get from the restaurant. All inclusive brings quantity, but not quality I am afraid.
- Baby chair is really unsafe. If you do have small baby, make sure you will push the chair against dinner table, or else your baby really in danger. My 20 month son leans forward to get food from table and the chair literally fell. We are just in time to hold the chair to make sure our baby didn't break his neck and bump his head.
- Don’t trust the time says you can have food, as you may not get them already like 30min before the time they say they closed.

Room Tip: If you are couples /elders without small kids, choose other hotel. If you travel with teenager, also...

Just back from a week at the viva cala mesquida club, which i went to with disabled access holidays. The staff here had excellent customer service skills and were very warm and friendly. They greeted you in all the restaurants and made you feel welcome and at home. The animation team of Marco, Mercedes and the gang encouraged you to participate in all the events and sports. There were loads of pools and always a surplus of sunbeds. The restaurant offered a very varied selection of food in its nightly themed buffets. We particularly liked cafeteria EL PATIO, which had excellent waiter service for lunch. This was like going out to lunch, with authentic spanish music in a roomy cafe patio creating a lovely atmosphere. The evening entertainment was of a good standard with different shows including tributes to Madonna, Elvis, Motown, a quiz night, karaoke night and a mime/clown show. My son of 12 loved it. He was off playing football and water polo with the lads. We took our Ipad and made good use of the free hotel WIFI. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Our one bed apartment had a very large balcony with table and chairs and a lounge with TV and sofa.
As a wheelchair user the staff treated me very well and always sat me near the buffet. One pool had walk in access with a rail so i was able to go swimming. There were plenty of slopes to get around the club. My disabled room had a shower in the bath with grab rails and it was situated near an exit. We were able to enjoy a very relaxing break.
Downsides - the main clientele of the club were German couples in their early thirties with small children, one or two under fives and lots of babies. We felt like we had invaded a German kindergarten convention. They were polite and affluent and certainly no sunbed hogging! But it would have been better for us if there were more of a mixture of ages and nationalities and singles and elderly too. Secondly although near the beach as a wheelchair user i could not use it. I needed wooden walk ways which were sadly lacking. Thirdly, i wanted sea views but found them sadly lacking in the club. Yes if you could go out of the club for a walk there were lovely sea views but within the complex there was nowhere to have a drink and watch the sea or have a coffee while enjoying the clubs position on a cliff. We had booked to go to the resort because of the views, but were told the disabled room was not available in the resort and were offered the club. I was very disappointed at the lack of a view in all the restaurants and bars.
Lastly nothing much here apart from the four viva hotels.

We just got back from Mallorca yesterday and received an email if we could pls rate this resort and the Viva concept. Normally I dont do this but because it did not live up to our expectations I thought I would let people know and decide for them selves.
Let me start by explaining that we are an adventures couple with a small boy of 4 years old. We normally go to Thailand or more adventures locations but due to my work we needed a small week's break and decided to fly some where close by and that really would cater for your kids. So via some references we were told about the Viva resorts on Mallorca.

Let me split it up in categories:

Service: Reception was extremely nice helpful and always with a smile no matter what the issue or time of days. Thanx for that.
Restaurants: The service on almost all restaurants was not great, waiting time for the food was short but waiting to even place an order was sometimes extremely long. I remember that after waiting for 20min, I walked up to the waiter to actually ask if I could pls place an order.

Food: The problem here is I love cuisine, I love to taste new things, and that you will NOT find here. Try to imagine 1 taste and (except for the pizza which was nice) that is what the whole holiday will taste like.
It was a mass production food hall, even the restaurants did not give me the high's and low's I was waiting for. The next problem you are faced with is that there are no restaurants near by the Viva resorts so unless you have a car, you are stuck. And if you have a 4 year old you are stuck as well.
The main Buffet Hall is so loud that all you want to do is eat and run, this was not relaxing. The other restaurants were much better in atmosphere but lacked in quality.

Rooms:
Clean, but small. Babyphone did not work from our room (sea view) to the bar. So once my sone went to bed (as his bed was the couch in the living room) we sat on the terrace or lay in bed reading or watching a movie we brought with us.

Drinks:
Perfect selection, only steer away from the cocktails, these were pre fab. So stick to a brand you know like bacardi or baileys and just order the real thing and mix your self.

Pools:
Great for the kids and for the adults, no complaints and enough sun beds.

Kids:
Perfect for kids, only if you are not german or danish like we were. then there is no one to play with. Eventually my son found some one, but that took a few days and sadly enough he left the next day.

Fellow tourists:
80% German and 15% danish, 5% mix. So as you can understand everything was in german. The english of the restaurant staff was very poor and you had to repeat many times

Overall:
We found that the pool and weather was great, but at day 5 of the 7 we really wanted to go home.
If you just want to lay around the pool and not do anything for a week and you have a kid. Yes fine. but as soon as you want to do something there is just not that much to do. I went diving. But even there i was disappointed. Almost no fish to see.
No we would not book here again just because it was not cheap for a week holiday 2600,- euro for the 3 of us (incl flights from netherlands) and I found it expensive for the quality I received.
for 500-700 euro more we could of had 1,5 weeks in a beautifull thai island resort.
So next year we are of to Bali as a family.
