“Exceeded our expectations”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2013

Just returned form a week at the Bahia Grande with my husband and two children aged 12 and 10. We had a fantastic time. The apartments are very clean. The maid changed the towels and cleaned the room every day apart from Monday. We had a one bedroom apartment (319) which was large and with a view out onto the pool and across to the sea. We went self catering as we are vegetarian but most people were all inclusive. The kitchen had all we needed to make sandwiches at lunch and we ate out in the evenings. Reception staff were helpful and well informed about the local area. The balcony was small just 3 chairs and a table but to be honest we either sat by the pool or inside where the air conditioning worked a treat. The beach is a two minute walk and there is always a stack of parasols, inflatables and beach mats by the outside shower to borrow so check there before you buy. We took pool towels but you can hire them for a week. There is a pool table and table tennis for kids. (You hire the bats and balls for the table tennis for a 5 euros deposit then get it back once returned.) You can get a taxi to Sa Coma or other local beaches cheaply. (They will phone for you at reception) Hiring bikes is a good way to get along the coast. You can hear through to the next apartment but if you keep the air con on high then you hear nothing and sleep well! This is a good family hotel which I would recommend. We hope to return.

Room Tip: Email before arriving and ask for a room facing the pool or sea. Room 319 has a good view over pool...

I stayed with my wife, teenage son and daughter for 12 nights on the all inclusive package during mid August 2013.
This is our second consecutive year at the hotel and like the first time we had a great time. From arriving we were met by friendly staff, check in smooth and quick.
The rooms are spacious and cater for self catering option. There is a large living area with two sofa beds, table 4 chairs and wardrobe with 4 drawers ample storage space, sliding door to balcony. Our bedroom was very spacious twin beds put together, wardrobe, safe ( 10 euro returnable deposit, cost 2 euro per day.) sliding patio door to balcony. Room had air conditioning 3 different levels.
The restaurant food like last year was excellent plenty of choice for breakfast ,lunch ,
and evening meal. One night they had a Majorcan evening with local food, another they had a gala night with cocktails and various nibbles on arrival. On Sunday and Thursday morning at breakfast champagne was available, which we took advantage of lovely. Self service beer pump and bottles of wine you could help yourself too.
The pool area as mentioned previously is adequate, although due to the building layout some areas do get a lot of shade. Sunbeds were plentiful and during our stay we managed to get sunbeds and didn't even need to get up at 06-00 am to put our towels down. Don't bring towels as you can order them from reception at 15 euros for each towel with returnable deposit, you can exchange them upto a maximum a four times during two weeks.
There is a sun terrace on the second floor which we used to catch the early evening sun. The bar area serves San Miguel and during the day this was served in plastic cups, along with other numerous alcohol.
The animacion team worked hard and catered for all ages.
The hotel is situated at the end of Cala Millor bay and is only 100 metres from the beach. It takes about 15 minutes walk into the town centre. There are mainly German guests with a smattering of other nationalities, during our second week more British guests seemed to arrive although I can say we had no problems with foreign guests been rude as mentioned previously. In fact my children met a number of Germans of similar age and had a great time.
Overall another superb time was had by our family and friends who came with us for the first time. The hotel is clean, staff are hard working, always have a smile and would I recommend this hotel, most definitely well worth visit, Hipotels well done again.

Room Tip: High room with sea view. Rear room if you want it less noise. Towels from reception 15 euro returnab...

Me, hubby and 2 teenage sons (16 & 14) stayed all inclusive for two weeks at the beginning of August 2013.
Last year we stayed in neighbouring Sa Coma in the Hipotel Paraiso - that was fab which is why we chose the Hipotel hotel chain again; we decided on Cala Millor as there was much more going on for our 2 lads.
Honest review......brilliant! We arrived in the early hours of the morning and were swiftly booked in to an apartment on 2nd floor - more about that later!
We were impressed by the size of the apartment - very spacious, and as always with Hipotels, very clean with all you could need. We even found 4 cheese & tomato salads, 4 sandwiches, 4 bowls of fruit salad and 4 bottles of water in the fridge - much appreciated after our long journey!
The beds were lovely and comfortable - I've never slept so well apart from in my own bed!
When we booked I asked for a high floor with sea/pool view, sadly we were in a room on the 2nd floor at the back of the hotel which overlooked the road and was surrounded by trees - we felt totally isolated. Our boys like to see who is out in the pool to meet up with new friends - but this was impossible. We asked at reception for a room change and they said they may be able to move us in a few days time which we accepted because we knew the hotel was busy - so we just got on with our holiday. We asked a couple of days later and were told to come back next day for a time when we would be able to move. We were given a floor 3 room with gorgeous views of the pool, sea and the surrounding scenery - beautiful!
During our first day or two it was obvious that this was a predominantly German hotel as we seemed the only English family there, which didn't bother us in the slightest, our only concern was whether our boys would be able to make some friends.
Eventually they managed to find three English lads so they were quite happy and further into the holiday a couple of Irish lads, so a little band of mates was born! We noted that initially some of our foreign fellow guests were quite rude when they realised we were English but as with most things it was only a small minority who let themselves down. The others were lovely and we tried to converse as best we could; by the end of our holiday we had become friendly with a couple of German families; nurtured by the friendly competition at the football & volley ball matches!
The food was lovely, very well presented, always a good selection even though a basic theme run on most days there was enough variety to eat something different everyday. They had a chef who at dinner cooked fresh meats & fish for you, always delicious and nice to try some of the local fish. The waiters were very swift in removing your used dishes and very attentive and polite.
If you have children of any age the Animation team, led by Sam who was very innovative and hands on, supported by Sebastian and Fiona were brilliant. There were activities for younger children such as T-Shirt painting, Sand Bottles, Pirates Day and fun pool games. For older children they organised bike tours (small charge) to scenic points in the locality, football and volley ball games where Sam and Sebastian would take part. There was also rifle shooting, darts and organised groups to go on the banana boat (charged).
In the evening the children's mini disco was great for little ones - though it was all either in Spanish or German but it didn't seem to inhibit the English children. The adult entertainment was standard, some of the acts brought in were very cheesey and groan inducing. Other nights would consist of Sam and the team holding quizzes, bingo, talent show and a movie trailer quiz - which too sounds cheesy but Sam was very good engaging everyone in the proceedings.
We thought pool was an ample size and only saw it look crowded once or twice as a lot of people headed to the beach most days - literally a 2 minute walk away! Not enough sun loungers around the pool due to lack of space and a lot of them were in shade due to the layout of the building and there was the usual selfish people who would put towels out very early but would not use their sun loungers until their return from the beach later in the day; but you get that everywhere.
Just a couple of niggles.......Information on the hotel prior to out trip stated 'gym, indoor pool and solarium'. My eldest son is a keen gym user and was told to use the gym he had to ask for the key at reception; when he did he was quite disappointed as the 'gym' was tiny with only a few pieces of equipment which had seen better days and a few dumbell weights. In the same area was the indoor pool. The indoor pool is not in use during the summer months and it seemed the jacuzzi and solarium weren't either. I do feel the indoor pool should have been accessible especially for older guests who may just want a quiet swim and not have to avoid the boisterous antics of small children and their pool games - just a suggestion.

One other little observation was that tables laid in the dining room did not have a full complement of cutlery, such as spoons even though cereal, soups and ice cream were available; so if you were availing yourself of these you had to find your own spoons - seemed a little odd to me! My husband has asked me to query why there only very small plates at breakfast even though all the elements of a 'full english' were available, it could not be enjoyed as you had to eat it in stages due to the lack of standard size plates.

However our stay at the Bahia Grande was fabulous, we had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday, met some lovely people and the resorts in this area are clean, well maintained with loads to do. We all agreed we would return - so thank you Bahia Grande for looking after us so well!

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side of the hotel are very quiet and surrounded by trees- great if that's what...

We had a fantastic 9 nights here in July/August. Really great aparthotel, spotlessly clean with friendly and courteous service. The apartments are just lovely with excellent air conditioning and everything you need if you wish to cook. We stayed room only but most guests are all inclusive. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was very good. The location is fantastic, just a stones throw away from a beautiful beach. On the down side it is a bit of a walk to the centre of Cala Millor; a taxi is only about 4-5 euros if you don't want to walk. The pool is on the small side but there are lots of umbrellas meaning you can escape the intense sun when you need to! Highly recommend this fantastic aparthotel and would love to return!

We stayed there from June 9 for a week, we had a one bedroom self catering apartment. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The maid came every day to make the beds and clean. Excellent shower and air- con a must for us. The reception staff could not do enough for us, another excellent, we asked for a kettle within five minutes it arrived. Many thanks to Alexandra who changed our room so we could have a view of the sea and was very helpful on our arrival. Ok the pool is small, but there is always plenty of sun-beds , some in shade some not. We also used the indoor pool and sun terrance as it was quieter up there to read. Resort was excellent and we found a good restaurant just up the road called Amapola.

The size and the layout of the apartment is good. If you're planning to cook your own food - compared to other apartment hotels we've stayed in - the kitchen has most of the utensils, pots and pans etc. that you need for a meal that is not too complicated. The quality of the beds were however very poor - to the point where I was considering sleeping in my son's inflatable Spiderman boat...

We didn't think a lot of the swimming pool and outdoor area, especially for those who have young children. The splash pool is OK for the very youngest, but not really for children who are 2 or older. The swimming pool is not great for any children unless they're able to swim or they happen to be very tall. My 4-year old for instance, who is learning to swim, found it frustrating because he couldn't stand up anywhere in the pool. The entertainment - if one can call it that - was dire at best. I do speak a fair bit of German, but my children don't, and they didn't really think a lot of the majority of songs and instructions being in German.

We stayed here for 10 days all inclusive with 2 children aged 4 and 8, the food was incredible with lots of choice and some items being cooked in front of you , the quality of the food was as good as 5 star hotels we have stayed in before,
The hotel and pool area were kept spotlessly clean as was our room, the room was really good with 2 beds in bedroom and 2 sofa beds in the lounge with a good kitchen that we never used and a modern bathroom,
If I was being critical I would say they should put kettles in the rooms as we Brits like our tea but I am sure if we had of asked this would of been addressed and they should advertise the sauna more as most guests didn't know there was one,
My two boys loved the pool and this was not over crowded and rowdy like some hotels, there was always plenty of sun beds although a large area of the pool is in shade from 12 midday but this was welcomed by alot of guests to avoid getting burnt,
The animation team work hard but the entertainment looked as though there was not a very big budget to pay for acts so if its all night entertainment you want you will be disappointed,
We wanted a relaxing break in a great hotel with good food and drinks and somewhere safe for our boys to enjoy the pool and that is exactly what we got
We Highly recommend this hotel to families but if your thinking 18/30 look else where
