Hotel Globales Borneo
Ranked #38 of 60 Hotels in Cala Millor

The hotel is in a brilliant location, right on the beach front. Everywhere was always very clean, the rooms were quite modern and again always immaculate. The staff were always helpful and friendly, especially the staff in the restaurant! Although there were German guests, there were also equally English if you got talking to people. I don't feel this caused any negative effects on our holiday. The only downsides were the food, there wasn't a lot of hot choices at lunch and dinner. And also the bar, as we went "out of season" the pool bar was closed which left only one bar open.
Overall our stay was pleasant, with good weather, good drinks and a clean comfortable room to stay in!

Room Tip: All rooms have sea views!

Visited this hotel 10/5/14 to 17/5/14 not a lot to say really just a few points i would like to raise,i paid £480 per person for the all inclusive package,so not a cheap late deal. I arrived after a 1 hr 30 mins horrendous transfer to find nice clean hotel with excellent reception service. Hotel was spotless and first impressions were good. The clientelle were 80% German but that was fine, they were all nice people, generally in their 70s. The hotel was very very quiet. After the usual evening "entertainment" nearly all the cotton tops went to bed ie 10pm.
Bar service during the day was poor. When there is a queue of 3/4 people waiting for a drink i do not expect the barman to continue to stack coffee cups while we all wait. Most bar staff spoke good German but little English. We were in a party of six, two of whom were in their 70's and a daughter with mobility issues. My wife was "told off" in a humiliating rant by the Bar Person when she asked him for six drinks which she was to take to the poolside where the family were waiting. She was the only person at the bar with my other daughter to help carry the drinks when she made the request but a few people then arrived. It was a one off request but the manner of the bar person was out of order. My wife explained there were six of us and wanted six drinks (not difficult for a good bar person especially when cocktails are pre mixed out of a machine). We got the impression that each member of the family should have come in individually for their own drink which would have made sense if the pool bar had been open. The help yourself coffee was always luke warm, hence most people queued at the bar for hot coffees. The pool bar was closed in May! ???? ok not August but it was a pain walking from pool to inside bar for a drink especially when the bar staff would not allow you a tray for use so it usually meant two trips.
Food was generally good but COLD, breakfast was cold bacon cold eggs and cold mushrooms,i didnt bother 3 out of 7 days, lunch and tea were ok but had to wait for drinks service not because staff were bad but because they were short staffed (and the hotel was not even full). There were various sauces yoghurts and milk on display but no labels to identify what they were. The food trays when empty were not replaced for some time so people had to hang around or gave up waiting. The overall impression was that the hotel was understaffed. If you stood at the end of the bar (being the only place in the whole hotel you can pick up wifi) you never got served. The animation team were very good and very willing if you like that sort of thing.
The room was nice, cleaned when required. The bathroom looked like it had been recently updated but the shower leaked like a sieve out into the hallway. This was common in most rooms not just ours (we had three rooms) and could be dangerous with water everywhere especially in view of the elderly guests. The location of hotel is excellent right by lovely beach.
On the whole an ok hotel but could do a lot better. With the exception of one bar person the staff were really pleasant and hard working and always had a smile. We stayed at the Sumba four years ago and could not fault it, which is why we returned but were placed in the Borneo. We got the impression the hotel is running on a tight budget.

Room Tip: choose a room lower down if you have mobility problems as the lift was sometimes out of service

Great hotel, just as good as its sister hotel (Sumba ..3 previous visits). Spotlessly clean, good food, with friendly staff and a professional but relaxed feel. The entertainment is mixed to cater for all nationalities (mostly German, some Spanish and yes only some English...but not a problem for us). There is a clean compact indoor pool (and also a colder outside one).Plenty of sunbeds so no need to reserve. Right on the beautiful beach and lovely to stroll the promenade. Also great location for shops. The welcome gift of free local champagne was a nice gesture too.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool

If you call this 4star hotel you are ridiculous! The food was overcooked, everyday same, no fish. Terases are made in the way that if you have smokers in other rooms around you cant even open a door, because it smells until your bed. There are terrible karaoke parties until 2 o'clock. The stuff is unfriendly and the hotel manager just dont do anything - we had a black man hair on our sheet and we told her - it didnt get changed all the week!
If you want to have a nice and calm holidays and you are not ok with communist offers of food and negotiations, go somewhere else.

Staying here at the moment and loving it! Food gorgeous, the salads are fabulous. The whole place is clean and tidy and the staff are very helpful.

It is 99.9% Germans visitors which didn't bother us at all, the TV has BBC1. Free Wi Fii in reception, a bargain if you have your own computer with you. Sun beds are free unless you want to be on the beach and it will cost you 15.Euros for 2 sunbeds and a parasol.
This is the place for a quite relaxing holiday if you are happy with your own company or can speak German.

This was our first all inclusive holiday and we weren't dissapointed. The hotel was immaculate, the food well presented and changed everyday. The breakfasts are great! The hotel was full of retired Germans which meant that it was nice and quiet but the catering and entertainment was biased towards them. We slept ok as the beds are quite hard and would recommend not having a room on the first floor as all the noise below travels up through the walls, consequently we asked to be moved.
One negative would be the staff. Thye are not over friendly and at times made us feel very unwelcome especially the old man behind the bar who never smiled at the UK guests?! He was so unhelpful and rude I was quite taken a back. That said, we would go back as the location was fabulous and the sea and sights amazing.

Booked through Travelzoo for a late holiday, all-inclusive. Hotel claims 4 star rating (deserved) and was very good in virtually all respects. Rooms were kept clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Food quality and variety was excellent. Breakfast was far superior to the 4 star Best Western outside Colchester stayed at just a few weeks ago. Luncha and dinner had more choices than anywhere else I have stayed. Whilst most of the clients were German, there was no problem being British. Included drinks were generously served and available all day without question. Evening entertainment was available, but not forced down your throat as in some hotels. Hotel grounds border the promenade road with beach 10 metres away. All rooms seem to have a sea-view from their balcony. Rooms, though smallish, had a fridge, TV and hairdryer, as well as air conditioning. Satff were all friendly and waiting staff were properly trained - this is becoming a rarity in hotels and restaurants around the world. Felt at ease in the hotel - not a stranger or an unwelcome guest there for the money alone.
The only down point was the very average coffee. I have become something of an afficianado over time and am probably too fussy.
Overall, the best all-inclusive holiday we have ever had. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to my friends or in returning there again - can't say that about many places I have been. Hotel is part of a chain - Hoteles Globales, and we discovered that we had (unknowingly) stayed at another of their hotels in Tenerife a few years ago. That one too was really good.
