“Could not fault a single thing !”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Our last day of a wonderful, relaxing holiday at this brilliant hotel. Based on previous reviews, our expectations were high, and the hotel did not disappoint .

We received a very warm welcome and free drink upon arrival and were thrilled to be given a suite and a double room next to one another as we were travelling with our teenage daughters. The rooms are very spacious and spotlessly clean. The hotel is very quiet and we never heard any noise at night.

The breakfast buffet is amazing. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels before, and I must admit, this breakfast is the best. The choice is huge ...and quality is superb. The staff are very attentive and friendly.

We had lunch three times at the pool restaraunt, and each time the food was fantastic and the service you could not fault. We thought the prices were very reasonable, and competitive with other restaraunts in town. Their drinks and ice creams were also fairly priced.

The pool and gardens are very large, the sun beds well spaced out so your family can enjoy privacy. There are plenty of sun beds so no need to rush down to find a place early in the morning as we have done at other hotels . There are also quite a few cabanas in the garden which provide comfort and shade! The pool was very clean and the hotel even provide lilos, floats and children's toys. Again, everywhere was spotlessly clean.

The wifi is very good and you can access it in the gardens and hotel...and free!

The hotel is brilliantly located. Just a few minutes to the beach, shops and restaraunts..but far enough away from the main strip that it is quiet and peaceful.

We could not find fault with the hotel at all and will definitely return next year.

Room Tip: Our rooms overlooked the pool and were very quiet.

This is a super hotel. Stayed for a week in August. Staff on reception are very helpful as are waiters in restaurant. Rooms and bathrooms are spotlessly clean. Room had a huge balcony with a table, chairs and two sun loungers overlooking the sea. Free wi fi in hotel and around pool. Entertainment every night in hotel ended around 11 o'clock when area became very quiet, which suited me. Breakfast buffet is superb, something for everyone. Gala buffet on a Friday night was also fantastic. The hotel is in a quiet location, with a lovely grassy pool area- loads of sun loungers and umbrellas. It is a 3 minute walk to the beach. There are lots of restaurants and shops near by. We took taxis to Son Servera market, which is on Friday mornings, also to Porto Cristo, which has some nice restaurants overlooking the marina. Will definitely use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Room 1322 great as it has huge balcony and has a sea view

Just returned from this hotel and had a fantastic time.

5 stars - In my opinion yes. I have stayed in many hotels around Europe between 4 and 5 stars and whilst I respect other peoples earlier reviews that perhaps there wasn't a wow factor I can tend to agree with that to some degree (but only maybe in respect of the architecture which is very pleasing to the eye but not extravagant which I guess earlier reviewers may have been referring to) but stars are based on quality of hotel, customer service and food and in all these areas the hotel excelled.

Quality of Hotel - Hotel was very well furnished throughout and was always exceptionally clean, with hordes of cleaning staff and gardeners, maintenance team always visible but unobtrusively going about their business (always lifting a head to offer a smiling good morning). Room was cleaned every day to high standard and we had baby cot which sheets were changed on everyday). We had a suite by choice as wanted extra space for little one and whilst not extravagant, was spacious with 2 separate rooms, mini-bar, double balcony, double sink, bath shower, robes, desk with chair which was handy as I had to work a little whilst away (AND MIGHT I ADD HERE THAT ANYONE NEEDING WI-FI IT WAS EXCELLENT THROUGHOUT THE HOTEL INCLUDING IN THE ROOMS AND AROUND THE POOL AND WAS FREE OF CHARGE). The room did not have tea and coffee facilities however we were pre aware and I took a travel kettle and tea bags so I could sit on balcony in mornings with a brew :o)

Customer Service - Reception staff always bid you good morning, good evening as do all staff that you come across throughout the day. If you stay in the separate building next to the pool, like we did, rest assured you also have your own reception, always manned with pleasant staff always available to answer your queries and you don't feel detached from the main building in any way. Earlier reviewers mentioned the road in-between the two buildings meant that you feel detached and when we first arrived we had this slight feeling but within 24 hours, the whole area of the main building the separate buildings and the pool area all rolled into one in my opinion and gave the hotel an extremely spacious feel as you are on the edge of the resort anyway therefore got very little through traffic, pedestrians or cars. We only strolled over to the main building for breakfast via the private underpass from the pool in the mornings and across the quiet road in the evenings and was actually quite a nice stroll (less than 2 minutes). During the day our building was right next to the pool, therefore just stayed in this area all day.

Pool Area - The pool area was quite vast with sun loungers well spaced and there was always plenty available. You couldn't reserve beds before 10.00 unless you remained present, therefore we sauntered down around 9.30 every morning after breakfast and had the same beds throughout our stay. By around 11.00 the area was around 80% full with people arriving throughout the day. The main pool was a good size with 3-4 steps and a waterfall area. It was a little on the cool side in the mornings but warmed throughout the day. The baby pool was quite cold to be honest and whilst only up to my knees was a little deeper than I expected. Heating maybe should be provided here but our little one loved it and at 20 months was able to stay in for quite a while but younger babies not able to regulate their temperature effectively would struggle a little in my opinion. There was animacion team available providing childrens activities usually away from the pool area and water aerobics once a day in the pool around 11.00 I think.

Food - The mealtimes were extremely enjoyable. We were slightly apprehensive with a 20 month old who loves his food but can be a bit messy. We needn't have worried. Tables are well spaced, and to be honest he really enjoyed the experience of dining in an open area, taking in the views and interacting with passers by and we were made to feel extremely welcome. Baby chair was provided and the same table was reserved for each evening meal.
There were 6 separate meal stations:-

Breakfast
1 Fruit Juices and Bottled water and milkshakes and yogurt drinks in abunance
2 Fresh plain and fruit yogurts, bowls of every fruit imaginable
3 Bread, jams, butter, cereals, toasting machine
4 Manned hot food area where chef cooked eggs to your liking, bacon, sausage, waffles, ready filled pancakes of 3-4 different fillings
5 hot food area with beans, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and 3-4 other hot food breakfast items, cold area attached with cold meat cuts and cold fish items, anchovies, peppers etc.
6 Cold food area with wide selection of cheeses and pates etc.

Evening Meal
1 Sweets Area with every different type of cake, ice cream, jelly , fresh fruits, yogurts etc.
2 Cold Salad area with individual dry salads and dressed salads of every variety
3 Cold area of cheeses and biscuits, butters and dressings etc
4 Hot manned area with chef cooking a variety of meat and fish to order, huge variety of raw fish and raw meat that you chose and was cooked to your preference in front of you, also fries, nuggets, grilled tomatoes, onion rings etc. (This area got a little crowded in evening with sometimes a 5-10 minute queue.
5 Hot area with huge choice of meats in sauces, fish in sauces, lasagnes, curry choices, choice of vegetables, choice of potatoes etc.
6 Cold area with pre-prepared prawn cocktail glasses, prawns, cold meats, cheeses, cold fish items etc.

All in all, whatever your preference there was definitely something for everyone and our little one enjoyed toasted fingers in mornings with strawberrys and yogurt and in the evenings he could have boiled buttered potatoes with green beans and peas with a few fries and some salad options washed down with strawberrys and ice cream so we were really pleased that he was catered for.

Also, it was my wifes birthday during our stay and whilst we did not inform them they must have retrieved this information from our passports. When we left the room in the morning, our cleaner ran up to us mimicking Happy Birthday in Spanish and gave my wife a decorative mug filled with chocolate which was very sweet of her. During dinner in the evening, the table had been decorated with rose petals and a candle and we were given a complimentary glass of champagne and at the end of the meal they presented a beautiful cake with Happy Birthday written around the edges in raspberry sauce. It was a lovely touch and my wife, normally quite shy was delighted. We would like to thank the staff for this lovely touch.

During the day, the pool bar food area has a wide menu of delicious salads, hot and cold sandwiches, pasta, pizza, lasagnes, garlic bread, chips etc and all reasonably priced for a hotel. Typical salad was around 8 Euros which at time of writing was around £6.50, pizzas were around the same price and most expensive options went up to about 12 Euros. Coffee was 10 cents over 2 Euros and Sprite was about the same and freshly squeezed orange juice 3 Euros.
Staff were nice and friendly. A little slow on the odd occasion but when on holiday I guess you go with the flow.

Location - You are located in a quiet area, however are literally 3 minute walk to a small shopping area with 2 mini- supermarkets (not the cheapest), A restaurant and a Doctors walk in surgery/pharmacy.

Beach is a 3-4 minute walk in a straight line just beyond the above choices and the hotel is separated by just one street from the beach which has hotels and apartments on this street.

The start of the Cala Millor Shopping area is a 7-8 minute walk from the hotel which would take you 15-20 minutes to get to the opposite end without browsing but could easily spend and hour or more here in the evening in and out of shops. Personally we preferred in the evening to go straight line to the beach/promenade area and walk along the front then walk back through the shopping area. The front is mainly cafe/bars restaurants all facing the sea and the shopping area is one street behind running perpendicular to the promenade. We went peak season and whilst was busy, it wasn't overly so and we never saw any groups of drinkers etc, it was mainly families and couples going privately about their business and the general buzz was pleasing. Other reviewers have said Cala Millor is not the prettiest of places and I can sort of agree when you maybe compare to traditional old towns in Spain and the picture post card places you see in the Greed Islands, however it was pleasing to the eye and the beach and promenade at night was lovely and on a couple of occasions during the day we ventured on to the back streets on the way back to the hotel to keep the buggy out of the sun and we experienced local back street cafe/bars and residential housing with families sat outside which was a nice experience. One old chap was sat sleeping in a chair with his slacks and an open shirt, head down under a fruit free, reminiscent of something out of the Godfather, :o).

Clientele - The hotel was multi-national with a variety from most typical European holidaying backgrounds. Everyone was extremely friendly and polite and I could see children from all nationalities playing together in the pool area. Many people would stop and make a fuss over little one at dinner no matter what language they coo'd at him in :o)

Overall, an extremely enjoyable stay. Having not been to Majorca for around 20 years and being our second holiday as a family (Villa in Portugal last year) I am extremely confident we will be returning to Cala Miillor as perfect for families and as the number one hotel in Cala Millor we would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel (Other hotels we walked past in the area whilst many seemed nice, had less acreage and looked cramped around pool areas). The taxi back to the airport (50 minutes) showed us what a green and diverse island, Majorca is.

Room Tip: Main Building is where the restaurant and indoor pool, spa, bar area, entertainment are located ther...

We stayed here for 14 nights and were very happy with the location and the hotel itself. The food was excellent and we stayed bed and breakfast. There was plenty to choose from whatever your taste from toast, baguettes, cold foods, fried breakfast, yogurts, fresh fruit of all kinds, fish, champayne, whatever your fancy it was there. A large choice and always being replenished. We did eat in the evenings and again there was alot of choice for all tastes and various stations where something could be cooked fresh. One night a pudding, but every night different meats/fish. The rooms were very clean and cleaned daily and the rooms were very tidy and had plenty of space. We liked the area as we like to walk and there were plenty of opportunities to do this. We didnot have a car and wanted to explore further so when we were worn out we discovered a little train thing which went around locally from cala millor to costa de los pinos. which was very reasonable at 2.5 euros each for full trip from stop 1 to 16. We also used the local bus service which again was very reasonable and covered most of the island if you so wished. If you go to the caves we went to hams which were 21 each so reccomend you go to drachs which are only 14 each. It was 9 euros to get to palma by bus and the buses are very regular. You can get a bus schedule from reception and they will guide you to the right bus stop. It is very easy catching the buses and saved our legs as had walked most of the areas in the first 1week. I would definately stay at this hotel again and go back to the area. It is very central to other areas around which are very quiet and pretty.

Room Tip: we had a good room as was a suite so cannot comment on what a double would be like.

Just stayed here for a week in July,
One of the best hotels I've stayed in, we had a suite, which we were upgraded to, FOC, It was spacious, clean and everything was replenished every day, the food was outstanding, with plenty of choice for all, and staff were excellent, and friendly, I loved the way not everyone was on top of each other around the pool with lots of space , there was 3 of us which included my 16 year old son, and although there wasn't a great deal for him to do at the hotel, he thought it was a great place to relax, this hotel is in a quiet part of the resort which is just a short 10 min walk from the town centre, I would highly recommend a stay here

Room Tip: Ask for a suite on a higher floor,

Stayed at the hippo campo for our wedding anniversary as my wife could not travel further afield due to an operation. Great welcome after taxi ride from airport. Receptionist said she was aware this was a special occasion so we were given a sea view room. I must say sea view isn't great because the hotel is a little way back from the beach. Holiday in General was excellent room, food ,service the lot would highly recommend . Although full the hotel gives you the feeling it's not busy which makes it very personal and comfortable. One little hiccup no flowers ,chocs ,nothing for our anniversary !!! Shame as everything else was great.

Room Tip: Hotel is split over two sides of road. Ask to stay in main building as this is very quiet especially...

I would return to this hotel for definite as it was everything you could ask for. The hotel was immaculate, but welcoming and relaxing. Everything we asked the staff about they checked, sorted or helped us in a friendly manner without any problem. The Manager was very friendly and very visible throughout our visit, which was nice. All the dining staff were friendly and professional. The chefs cook a selection of meat and fish to order at their cooking station and the choice on the buffet is vast.
The pool and sun loungers are just across the road on a grassed area, which you can access from the lower level of the main hotel. It was relaxed with lots of space around the loungers allowing you to move your lounger around without affecting others. As with the main hotel this area is well maintained and has a lovely bar / eating area which we ate at a few times during our stay.
There were always loungers available when we went over in the mornings at around 11.00am and the towels can be changed daily if required.
It was lovely and quiet in the immediate area, but there is a spar, speedbank, chemist and a few other shops for your immediate needs very close by. A lovely walk along the sea front soon takes you into the bustling Cala Millor strip with shops and eating places.
We didn't have children and were pleased that there weren't too many children staying in the hotel. Those that were there tended to be generally well behaved and although we saw some low key children's entertainment I wouldn't say it's really a hotel for children, and to be honest that suited us fine.
I don't know what else you could want in a holiday, if you are visiting Cala Millor you won't find a better hotel.

Room Tip: We had a level 2 room in the main building, overlooking the pool. This is probably the best view and...
