Having just spent a week here, nothing too wrong with the place but not sure how others rate this hotel so highly. On the upside, the location is very good and the staff are all friendly enough. It is right on the seafront with easy access to nice walks along the front to Cala Bona or a about 45mins gentle stroll to Son Severa, especially good on a Friday as it's market day. .

But the hotel itself is very dated, the tiles and signs on the wall behind the bar are the same as in pictures dating back to the early nineties and suspect have been there since built. Food very much the same every evening, quite nice but poor choice and presentation of veg. Expect to pay 17 euros for a fridge and 17 euros for a safe per week, and then 4 euros a day I think for the wifi access, something we declined as any local bar will let you have access for free. Also only hotel that we have used of late that doesn't put a jug of water out at dinner as they charge you for it.

I'm sure the entertainment was good for some so hard to judge, but as a couple in our early 50's, it did nothing for us and we went out every evening. Our room was fine, clean and had a lovely sea view, but did find it odd that our bathroom window actually looked out onto next doors balcony .. an oddity that only occurred on one corner of the building.

Cala Millor itself is lovely, friendly bars and cafes, and gorgeous stretch of white sandy beach, although we did visit out of season and would imagine it gets heaving in peak season

Just returned 2 days ago from a break for my 50th. Rooms small but clean. Bathroom sink small and no pressure on cold tap, just trickled out. Shower not very powerful. Entertainment aimed at their elder clientele, of which there were numerous, bingo etc. kept awake 5 out of 7 nights with people coughing in next room, baby crying and women walking in rooms with shoes on.
As for the food we never had a hot meal yet, it was only warm and not very presentable. Even coffee and tea out of the machine at breakfast was only warm.
On the plus side they have a sun terrace to die for and the resort itself is lovely with lots to see and do. The walk to the castle, though a long one, is well worth it for the views alone. All in all we would definitely go back to Cala Millor but not to that hotel.

We have stayed at The Talayot many times over the past years. We find it a nice friendly hotel with the staff exceptionally friendly and the food very good indeed. Mainly we have had good rooms, and sometimes a sea view without having requested it. Entertainment is not up to the standard that it was at one time, and you get the feeling they are having to cut back. Quiz and bingo are the most popular (if you like that sort of thing) but we did have one night, out of our ten night stay when a very gifted Spanish musician performed and he was very good indeed. The downside is the pool area and unfortunately at the time of the year we were there, there were falling from the trees some very nasty poisonous progressive caterpillars. My husband, unaware of how harmful they were picked one up to remove it from near the sunbed and put it on the garden area. Next day he came out in a very bad body rash and reported this to Thomson rep.
She said it was necessary to call the doctor and this would cost 90 euros. We went back to arrange this after having breakfast and she had left earlier, not according to the time she was supposed to be there. So we had a talk with reception who organised the local doctor to call and he prescribed medication. A few days after arriving home, we had to see our own GP and was prescribed antibiotics. His skin area is still very sensitive and as this is a month ago, we realise that this condition is quite serious. The reason for mentioning all this, is to warn other people, especially with children to be aware. This should be definitely pointed out by the Thomson rep. and I mentioned it to her, after our experience, but she did not seem to be interested. We have written this to bring to light what we considered a serious issue, which is something the rep. ought to be informing guests about.

Second stay at this hotel, and again had a great stay. Reception staff polite and check in was quick. As always hotel was clean and staff friendly. Requested a high/quiet room and hotel obliged. Food was of good quality for three star plenty of choice and cooked correctly. Entertainment of sorts most nights, and yes bingo played for avid fans. Very impressed with cleaning. we had rain containing the Saharan dust, not only did they hose pool area and sunbeds they also mopped floor with disinfectant and wiped all beds with same. Hotel is ideally situated between resorts of Cala Millor and Cala Bona. Cala Millor is the larger resort and plenty of bars/restaurants within a very short walk from hotel. The sandy beach is around 5 mins walk, as the "season" had literally just started their were no beds/parasols on the beach. I believe these are available late April/early May. Again the shops are only around a 5 minute walk. There are also boat trips that are available just before you reach the beach. Cala Bona is smaller and mainly consists of bars/restaurants and a few smaller shops, although it has a lovely Marina. All in all an enjoyable break

Room Tip: worth asking for high room and if your lucky most side rooms have partial sea view
