“great hotel and location”
Reviewed 15 May 2013

Had a one bedroom apartment for 10 days at the end of April. Room was fantastic, was one of the new modern ones in block 2. Beds were comfy (except the pillows but generally all hotel pillows are like lumps of concrete) and was immaculately clean. All essentials in the kitchenette - fridge, kettle, microwave, bottle opener! All staff were very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of sunbeds although i can imagine that these get filled very quickly in the high season. Location is great as you are just a block from the beach and promenade and in between Cala Millor and Cala Bona so great for evenings out. Had a drink in the bar a couple of times at the end of the evening, place empties out after the entertainment has finished so service was good then. Can't comment on the food as we did not eat in the hotel. Supermarket is good for essentials and their bread was freshly baked each morning, there is a Mercadona at the other end of Cala Millor if you have a car. We had no problem parking outside the hotel but again in high season it may be more of an issue. The only thing i would have changed is that as we had a corner room with a balcony which got the sun most of the day and early evening it would have been nice to have a couple of sunbeds on there. There is a large washing machine and tumble dryer in the basement (near the gym) which takes 3 euros each which may be handy for those travelling with budget airlines and needing to keep their luggage to a minimum. Indoor pool as well as the outdoor ones which also has a sauna and jacuzzi (not sure if this is open in the summer though) there is another jacuzzi up on the sundeck as well. Overall we had a great stay.

Great hotel in a nice area.
Went out of season so not much open and not much to do - but that's what we were expecting.

Plus points
Spacious,clean room with good facilities.
Excellent bar with a good selection.
Really good pools with 3 different areas for different age groups
Supermarket attached that doesn't rip you off
About 40 seconds walk to the seafront
Recently modernised so the whole hotel is up to date, modern, clean and inviting.
A short walk to some good restaurants (Cala Bona harbour) and shopping (Cala Millor)

Minus points
Aircon wasn't turned on as it can't be run at the same time as the hotels heating, and the older generation wanted it warm so we were quite hot at night.
Food mainly targetted at the 90% German visitors, nice but not good for English kids. We didn't book half board because we had read about this.
Entertainment lacked any imagination, but again this wasn't why we went so it didn't bother us.

All in all a very good hotel for an out of season break, I am guessing it will be much livelier in the summer.

Room Tip: Upgrades to sea view rooms are cheap into the new block (only 10 euro night when we were there).

We went here in august 2011..... great get away. We booked all inclusive and got a big appartment on the ground floor, just above the childs club.
As we left the appartment early we do not know if it was noisy....
We arrived around 22:00, the restautant was closed but we had a great surprise waiting in our flat: A big plate with tapas, fresh bread and a bottle of red wine :-)

We had a livingroom with an attached bedroom, the balcony was a dream, I think about 10 meters long and 1,5 meters wide.

It was not far to walk to the beach BUT we were really dissappointed with the area around the hotel.
We always use to go for a walk after dinner to do some shopping, have a drink etc but both in Cala Millor and Cala Bona all shops shots down at 22:00. Boring as....

At dinner you often had to wait for service, the waiters saw you but didnt bother to come to bring you a drink. The same in the morning, to get coffee or tea you had to go to the bar to order which wasnt appreciated as you should wait for your waiter/ waitress.... No big problem but after a couple of days it was quite annoying..

Originally on the first day of our holiday I'd have given Marins Playa 4 or 5 stars as the room appeared exceptional. However, after the second night ( we left air con on overnight) the room stank of cigarette smoke. This continued 24/7 for the rest of our holiday. I'm not a moaning minney but I do have asthma and after a few days of this it flared up. We complained to reception and asked to be moved as basically the people next door to us literally sat on their balcony 24/7 chain smoking. We worked out that our air con units were centrally controlled and some how interlinked that was why the smell was getting in ( when out on balcony couldn't smell anything even though they were right next to us smoking all the time and our towels didn't smell). However reception said there was nothing they could do and send a maid up with some air freshner.
On one occasion the maids didn't leave any towels yet reception told us we'd have to collect them ourselves- not great when you've just come out of the shower lol. The only other thing was that you couldn't get a dumbed at any time of day. I can't say we were bothered but some people would be. Otherwise, fab holiday- lovely location right between Cala millor and Cala bona which is great for families and couples alike. We like a good pub quiz however Yates and Cheers were disappointing- Yates was taking the Mick easy whereas Cheers' quiz never started- thank goodness actually as when I went to the toilet there was a spray of diarrhoea everywhere - yes everywhere!!
I'd recommend L'olivia or L'olive ( can't remember which lol) in Cala bona harbour- stunning try the prawns on the tapas menu! You have to reserve a table though. I can't say any restaurant wasn't superb to be fair :D
Looking forward to coming again some time :)

This place is lovely, apartments are clean and there is a bar, restaurant and supermarket on site. We stayed in Marins 1, but 2 and 3 were right around the pool - the rest were near but looks like 1-3 best if you have kiddies (no roads/pavements etc.).

Would defo 100% recommend for families as the entertainment was great (esp. "Grease"), weather was lovely and this resort had the best of Cala Millor/Bona without the noise! Short walk to either of these resorts (within 5-10 mins either way ... right for Millor @ the sea & left to Bona - easy!).

We went during school term time (just - mid-September), so maybe a little quieter as kids were littler, but even though quite a lot of towels on sunbeds, this was not an issue. If I'm honest, I think it would be a little hot for a baby/toddler any earlier in the season anyway. Most families were German and there was mainly German TV channels (would've been nice for more English - just 2 news channels but you have to cater for majority I suppose) but I loved it. Just about right I reckon.

Happy with my holiday at the Marins Playa.

We stayed at the Marins Playa Suites at the end of August and loved the hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean, well equipped with good air-con and a fridge. Bathroom was lovely with a rain shower. The hotel appeared to be full but there were always sunbeds, the pools are brilliant. The view from our balcony was amazing and we were so sad to leave that we have booked to stay again in October!

Have just returned from a week at the Marins Playa and my wife and I really enjoyed it,it was very clean, quiet a night and the staff were very helpful. We had no problems at all with towels on the sunbeds, there was one or two but there was still beds available at 10am.
The only thing I could complain about is that there is only 2 English speaking channels on the TV,all the rest were in German.
We booked a studio but were given an apartment in No.1 block so that was a bonus. The supermarket was pretty well stocked and the prices were ok.Maybe my wife and I got lucky because we could not find anything to moan about,we would certainly use the hotel again
