“fine for a beach holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2008

Have to more or less agree with the other review. The apartments are nice and big and ours was clean. We were on the 2nd floor with a lovely sea view. The location is excellent, right on the beach. Its a shame that the aparts are a bit neglected though. There doesnt seem to be any sort of maintanence, just a couple (husband and wife) who clean the room once a week, no clean sheets and one change of towells. Theres a mop and bucket and brush in the room so i think its a case of *heres your key, up to you how you keep the apartment.* We had to fix the toilet (it didnt flush and there was no one around when we arrived) and i took the shower head off to unblock the holes in it and clean it. (it was fine after that). Fridge was very old and freezer door missing. We also had a struggle with the door key so we had to oil that and the lock. A few of the apartments had shutters missing or broken on the bedroom windows which means you have to keep your bedroom window shut. Just general maintenence that i would have thought they could fix. The *childrens playgound * thats advertised is a piece of waste ground right outside one of the apartments with two old swings and it was full of rubbish and a glass that was there all week. I actually put it in the bin in case a child went it there and got hurt. They were all English staying there and very friendly. We used to chat to each other over the balconys and its hit and miss if your kettle or toaster works or if you have enough dishes so we used to swap them around each other. When we arrived our kettle didnt work so the couple next door gave us theres and their toaster when they left. Quite funny really. Also when we arrived there was coffee, sugar, cooking oil and washing up liquid in the cupbourd which was handy so i think they leave whatevers there for the next people. These apartments are ideal for a beach holiday and we were quite happy as we were on the beach all day so we only ate breakfast in them. We had a microwave and two hot plates so i managed fine. I,d stay in them again because of the location and they are nice and big. But i,d throw a spare sheet and a couple of towels in my case next time. The resort is very German but theres lots of english pubs too and English places to eat. Get Stuffed was great, The British Bull dog, The Sportsman, Rose and Crown and i highly recomend Cala Nau restaraunt for the Hawayan chicken. You can walk along the prom to Cala Bona which is very British but quite run down and grubby. Someone told us its a different council to Cala Millor and they dont keep it as nice. The Germans insist on the prom at Cala Millor being sprayed twice a day and kept clean and it was certainly cleaner and better looked after.

Stayed here for a week in September.
Firdtly, be aware that the resort is geared very much towards the German tourists. 90% of the visitors in Cala Millor are German, and the local bars and restaurants seem to cater for them first.
There is no reception at the Ses Gavines. Your room keys are left taped to the door are you enter the building.
The rooms themselves are large and comfortable, but are rather 'tired' and could do with a bit of care. In our room, for example, the fridge door was coming apart, and the freezer compartment was missing it's door. The stove was also a little old and we didn't use it, relying mostly on the toaster and microwave provided.
A fan, available from the maid for €10 per week, is essential in the warmer months as there is no air-con in the rooms. There is also a safe in the room, the key also available from the maid for €15 per week.
The maid, who was english, comes around 2 or 3 times a week to change the towels, but she didn't change or touch the beds while we were there.
If you are stuck in the room for any reason the TV only receives Sky News and BBC World News, so take a pack of cards.
The actual location is very good, being right on the seafront. This makes it ideal for sun-workshippers as there is no actual pool at the room itself.
The road along the side of the apartments can get quite busy and noisy at times, especially as there is a trike motorcycle tour that sets off and returns from there daily.
The general area can also ne quite noisy in the wee-small hours due to the local clubs and bars.
If you just want somewhere to eat & sleep then this place is ideal, but you get what you pay for so don't expect too much.
