Stayed here the 6th -13th September 2013.
Bit out dated but great value for money. The Staff were all really friendly. The room was nice and had a balcony. It was cleaned everyday and fresh towels were provided whenever we required them. It does need to be updated butfor the price we paid I had no complaints. The pool was small but adequate and the beach was only across the road so the pool was not really required. The beach is fab, really picturesque :) There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area and the promenade comes to life at night. The resort is quiet and suitable for a relaxing holiday. The bus stops just down the road from the hotel so you can travel to other resorts easily.
I found the cost of Mallorca the same as home. Its not that cheap there for eating out but there is a good selection of restaurants and bars in the area.
I would recommend "Neil and Annes" for breakfast. They serve proper english bacon! Yum!
Also The london pub was very nice too. Alex the bar man is lovely and seems to remember everyones face and what they drink. I dont know how he does it :) He also loves to dose regulars with free shots :)
The area is mostly Germans and English so didn't find any Irish to befriend. Maybe other resorts are more suitable for sociable Irish.
There is not much to do in the resort by the end of the week we were getting bored. Its a resort suited to beach worshippers as there isnt much else to do during the day unless you travel to other resorts.
Also the transfer time to and from the airport is about 2 hours which is alot and is very tiring so would recommed resorts closer to the airport.

Room Tip: Request a room facing either the street or the beach so you catch the breeze. Poolside view has no breeze and can be quite uncomfortable in hot weather.

The hotel is a 2 star hotel, so you get what you are paying for, but the perfect location - 2 minutes walk to the stunning beach and closeness to all the amenities makes it a winner hotel in my books.
The hotel is dated, rooms are very basic clean every day and towels change daily; balconies good size and good for small kids. The bars allowed our 3 year old daughter to have a great view without worrying that she might be trying to reach the balcony rail. Also near the hotel is a stop for a little train which she was able to see and wave to every time it stopped and was going under our balcony.
The staff is very friendly which is what I expected from a family run hotel; everyone was really friendly, and even without speaking the same language we managed to have a polite little conversation every time we saw the staff.
The food is all right, repetitive but edible and even my fussy partner manage to eat something every day. Paella was really good, nice salad and pasta.
We would get back to this hotel anytime, good value for many and closeness to the beautiful sandy beach and great location is what makes our holiday. We go on holiday to visit places, admire the views, meet people, get to know the culture and a hotel is a base where we can rest, sleep and eat.So if you are looking for a basic accommodation but clean and friendly this hotel is for you. If you like spend all day beside the pool, have an entertainment at night or a bit of pampering this hotel is Not for you.
Happy holidays for those who are still going this year.

Room Tip: Ask for a see view room as we did when booking our holiday;we were on the 4th floor right on the left corner room number 402. Superb view and nice breeze from the see.

just stayed at hotel sultan for a week, we went half board,at first we thought it was a dump.got a good welcome, hotel room was basic, but it was expected because the holiday was on the cheap.
rooms were cleaned everyday, new towels etc
the deco is dated, but it works well ,its clean and tidy, staff friendly even though the english is minimal.
breakfast was good, cereal, toast ,fried eggs, scrambled eggs, diffrent types of bread ,butter or margarine.unlimited or bottomless drinks, tea ,orange juice etc
downside for brits no beans or real sausage, other that breakfast is superb
for dinner we had various throughout the week from chicken, fish, paella, pork, etc with a range of salad and other stuff you would expect on a dinner table
the hotel is in perfect location, literally three minute from the beach, loads of places to eat out, burger king ,english pubs eg shipwrecked which offers full english breakfast or nice sunday roast with all the trimings
staff were nice and friendly, nice basic swimming pool, free wifi but only works downstairs at the reception lounge,
we enjoyed our holiday, holiday and hotel were ok,

Just returned from a weeks stay at Hotel Sultan, on arrival we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who kindly let us choose another room as we didn't like the view from the one she gave us initially. The room was very basic and quite dated, the door was hard to open and close and I would literally fall into the room due to having to push it so hard to open it! and I had to slam it shut for it to close and lock! I managed to just laugh at this but it wasn't ideal.
The beds were very thin with the poorest quality of bed linen and the thinnest pillow ever! However after a couple nights we got used to it and was ok. The bathroom door had some wood missing from it which looked tacky and horrible. The room was cleaned everyday but bed linen not changed at all, towels were changed once or twice. The room was very basic but clean and ok if you're not too fussed about it being anything special.
We stayed on Bed&Breakfast board and the breakfast consisted of toast, jams, cereals, cakes, croissants, scambled/fried eggs, cheese, ham, salami, tomatoes, one fruit (usually orange) tea, coffee and fruit juices. I must mention that the plates they provide at breakfast are small ones (that you would put just toast on) which we found annoying as we couldn't put everything on one plate and therefore ended up with about four plates between two of us. This is silly! Why not just have normal sized plates for cooked breakfasts?
You have a table number and are designated to sit there every morning, we were in the corner of the room and it was difficult to keep walking around the other tables to get to ours. We would have liked to sit outside sometimes. The girl who works in the dining room was pleasant and always wished us a good day. We did have the evening meal twice, just paid extra each time which was 9euros. Evening meals were much the same as breakfast in the way of being very basic and nothing special, there was always chips, pasta, salad and bread, a meat of some sort and fish, also a different soup everyday. I tried the tomato, noodle and vegetable which were all nice. Evening meal does not include a drink and you have to pay extra for, the bar lady is on hand for that, she is also very pleasant and friendly.
The hotels swimming pool is not on site, it is across the road for some reason! but it doesn't mention that in the hotel descriptions, the photos just trick you into thinking its all together, the picture you see is the back of the building from across the road! The toilets in reception area need looking after, one light doesn't work, there was tissues everywhere and they were dirty, This was a shame as the décor was really nice.
The best thing about the hotel was the location, couldn't be better, literally a few minutes walk to the beach and to the main strip of shops, stalls, restaurants and bars. There is a car rental shop and excursion place right next door. Next to that is a great café/restaurant called Hamburg which isn't much to look at décor/atmosphere wise but is great value for money and lovely food! We ate there twice and would have more if we'd tried it sooner.
Our return flight was early hours in the morning and we left at midnight, had to check out at midday, however when we asked the reception lady if we could keep the room longer, we were able to for a charge of 10euros.
During our stay we did notice that there was a lot of noise early in the mornings from rubbish trucks, coaches, buses etc it woke us up and was a nuisance.
Overall the hotel was basic but adequate for what we paid. It is a two star hotel and a two star hotel is what you get! The staff are friendly and polite and we would stay there again for a get away to the beach due to its great location.

Room Tip: Go on the mini train, its 3euros and takes you all around Picafort. If you want sun loungers on the beach, go and put your towels there early (9am) as by 10am they are all full. Don't eat in Vinicius - pizza was like cardboard, horrible. The higher floor your room is on, the better view.

Don't go here! It's filthy, the food is disgusting, uncooked chicken and pork, hard meat, uncooked eggs, all jelly, yuk! Sheets and towels transparent and full of holes, pillows quarter inch thick, lumpy hard mattress, peeling paint, dirty toilets, it's absolutely vile. Miserable, unprofessional staff, why would you want to go there when you have an idea what it's like? We thought, oh well, cheap and cheerful, we just need a clean bed and shower, but that's not what we got. Please read the bad reviews, they are the truth, honestly. Don't waste your money here, we're not moaners, we are just clean normal people, with standards, of course, everyone's standards are different, but I would say avoid The Sultan like the plague!
